Amazon sends email to remind you to review a product you purchased from them. I guess writing a review for Amazon won't be such a bad thing.
Amazon Vine Program (http://www.amazon.com/gp/vine/help)
Amazon Vine is a program that enables a select group of Amazon customers to post opinions about new and pre-release items to help their fellow customers make educated purchase decisions. Customers are invited to become "Amazon Vine Voices" based on the trust they have earned in the Amazon community for writing accurate and insightful reviews. Amazon provides Amazon Vine members with free copies of products that have been submitted to the program by vendors. Amazon does not influence the opinions of Amazon Vine members, nor do we modify or edit their reviews.
Good Luck!
I heard about this..kind of cool..were you invited wadafak? I don't write amazon reviews so I don't think I would ever be accepted..I heard it's great though with those high-end reviewers that review hundreds of products in amazon..

Ironically I was sent an email *just* this morning to give feeback on a couple things i purchased lately. I got no invitation to join htis program though. I always give feedback on things I purchase, and make the reviews detailed. I would guess it is a major YMMV.

Yeah, I always kind of wondered what the magic number of reviews was to get in this program. Writing a quality review takes some time after all. People who manage to write up hundreds of them on Amazon definitely deserve to get something out of it.

I did not get an invite to join, but a friend at work did. She had about a hundred reviews on amazon. But besides writing the reviews, other amazon users rated her review as useful. To be invited you need to have reviews that other users found useful.

I recently received an invite to join. I've only written 14-15 reviews, so apparently it's more of a quality than quantity thing.
There is a long list of freebies to choose from. While most free items are books and music, there are also items worth $500-$1500. Each month, there is a newsletter showing what's available.

The good items get taken almost immediately though.
I opened my newsletter and tried to get one of the better items roughly 10 minutes after it was sent, and almost everything that wasn't books was gone. It almost feels like they send it out to old members first and then new members get shafted with the leftovers.
I'm excited about getting invited to join Amazon Vine, but unless you're interested in reading books you've never heard of it's not that great. Free stuff is cool and all, but the resell value of books is basically $0.00

I think it has to do with how long you've been reviewing, how good the reviews are, what the reviews are for, and how much posting you do in the community.
I've only got about 20-30 reviews, but they're mostly for pretty obscure things that had few or no reviews before I made my post. Expensive camera lenses, obscure books, that sort of thing. I think a good review for something that they don't have a lot of reviews for is worth a lot more than a review for something that already has a bunch of reviews.

How long were you a member of Vine for before you were uninvited?

They never uninvited me, just banned me from amazon all together so I couldn't log in.
I still got the vine newsletter though, but might as well be spam?
They did clear it up for me so I've been unbanned.
Weird...
