View Full Version : HEADS UP for Smarty Pants Know It All Panelists
Hello, Know-It-Alls,
This is an AMAZING OPPORTUNITY for your kids!
We’re looking for KIDS who can tell us what they think about a VIDEO GAME. (We're only looking for certain ages, so not everyone will qualify.) This opportunity is for both boys and girls, and they don’t need to be video gaming gurus. If your child currently plays video games, then we’d like to send him/her a video game (that s/he doesn’t already own), have them play it for a few days, and then answer questions about it. Afterwards, your child can KEEP THE GAME and we’ll send you a $15 GIFT CARD, too!
It’s our coolest research project ever!
There are three steps:
STEP 1
Click on the link below. You and your child will complete a survey together where we’ll ask you a few questions about your child’s video game ownership, habits and preferences. We basically need to be sure that your child qualifies to participate. If s/he does, then we’ll send you a video game for your child to test.
STEP 2
The video game will arrive in the mail with instructions. Your child will need to answer a few short questions online about their initial impressions BEFORE they can open the game and play it. Once that’s done, they can play the game to their heart’s content for the next few days!
STEP 3
After your child has had 3 to 7 days to play the game, s/he will need to answer some more questions about it online. Once s/he completes that survey, your family gets to KEEP THE GAME and we’ll send you a $15 GIFT-CARD!
IMPORTANT NOTE: We’ll be sending out HUNDREDS of games. Still, this is a project that almost everyone is going to want to do, so we MAY get MORE responses than we NEED. If you qualify and we don't use you, we will enter you into a drawing for several prizes. Either way, just know that we're signing up families on a FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED basis. So get started by clicking on the link below!
Sorry! Link is user specific.
My son qualified and he's so excited because he qualified. :) Now to keep him from bouncing off the walls for the next couple weeks until the mystery game arrives...:)

I had this email waiting for me this morning. I finished it around 9am.
OP, your son shouldn't have to wait too long for the game because it said we would receive them between Aug 7 - 15, I believe.
Hope all the kids get something they like. I am curious which platform we will get because we have them all lol. Daughter is hoping it is for the Wii because she plays that the most.
LOL in kid time that's weeks. ;) He's already asking if it will be in today's mail. He so wants it before school starts. It will be for the Wii, DS, or PSP from what I remember reading. Whatever it is he'll love it.

Is there a sign up link? My DD would love this! :)
I've been looking for the sign up link but I can't even find a direct page to their website. :( I know I was sent a link to sign my kids up through a survey I took through Vision Critical a long time ago so this might be an "Invitation Only' panel.

I registered and got the survey today also. My kids didn't qualify. It's funny...it asked me for the ages of my kids and then said I was disqualifed. I'm pretty sure that when I signed up, they asked for my kids ages. It's funny that they would bother with the survey.
Oh well...I'm just glad that I got signed up with the program now!

For those people who might get this survey, here's a little more info that might help you with the screening. ;)
I think they are looking for kids between the ages of 8 and 11.
You'll be shown a list of games for two different game platforms. It will ask you which games you own, then it will ask you which games you don't own, but have ever played.
My son only owns one of the games they listed, but he had played 5 other ones. The ones he had played were (in his opinion), the best games on the list.
When he qualified, they said they would select a game for him from the group of games which he had never played before.

When I sat my son down for the survey I said, "Now promise me that you won't be disappointed if you don't qualify, but this one is for a video game PT."
He gets a ton of PTs from KidzEyes, but he makes frequent comments about wishing they would send him a video game PT. I almost did his portion of the survey without telling him, just so he wouldn't be totally upset if he didn't get it. I'm so glad he did.

The clothing one I did several weeks ago but DQ. My kids don't wear clothes from the places that the survey was about. They are all in AE, Hollister, Abercrombie, etc., so we DNQ.

Like what? I thought that was the end too. It said the child qualified and would be sent a game, then it asked for address, then the last thing it asked for was the income and ethnicity info. Then the "Those are all the questions we have! Thank you for your participation!" message appears.
I think you might be mistaken, FabulousNYer.

Nope. My son is about to lose his mind, waiting for the game to arrive. A package arrived this morning and he called me at work to ask if he could open it. I didn't recognize the return address he read to me from the label, so I told him to go for it.
He opened the package only to find my 3-month supply of BC pills!!!

I think when companies offer PTs to children they should make an *extra* effort to ensure a speedy delivery. I know it's only been a little over a week, but my kids ask me every day if the game arrived yet.
I googled this company and I see no real history (good or bad). I really, really hope this offer is legit. Otherwise, I'll have two disappointed kids in my house and some of their friends will be disappointed too. This was the first *deal* some of my friends actually did...I'd hate for it to be one that goes bad and then they are skeptical of everything I tell them .

Well aren't you just wonderful. Why won't you listen to me and stop responding to my posts? I've asked numerous times now. You are negative and never have anything good to say.
And FWIW, my kids know the deal with freebies, surveys, PTs, etc. They've seen me doing it for years and they know you can never count on anything 100%. That doesn't change the fact that they're kids and they're excited about getting these games, so they ask about it.

My son, my daughter, and my niece all qualified for this. They agreed to share whatever games come, so there is no fighting.
So far no other games at the other addresses. My kids will be so excited when they get home.

Glad to hear it. It looks like they'll enjoy it, since they like WiiSports and WiiPlay.

They won't even have time to play this game until we get home after practice, and by then it'll be an hour before bed  I bet they get up really early tomorrow to play!!!

anyways I did mine thru saynation as well.
I went to saynation today, and its says due to an overwhelming response some who qualified will not receive the game. it says they need boys age 6-8 to still send the test to.
funny thing is my girl is 6, and the rating on the game says everyone 10+ due to CRUDE HUMOr.
does anyone else wonder if they should actually let the child play it if it says the rating is too high?

It's probably ok unless you are very conservative with your child. "Crude Humor" in kid's games usually refers to fart jokes, potty talk, etc.

Then after all the questions were done, it asked me for the shipping address. After filling it out, is asked me for the household income and then when I clicked continue, it said thanks for participating in the study! or something to that effect...

You should be good...that's the way it ends.
The only reason you *might* have to worry is if you were one of the very last people to qualify. Another survey site offered this same opportunity and apparently they had too many people apply. They posted a message that some of the kids who qualified wuold not be getting their games. The other site also indicated that there is still a shortage of 6-8 year old boys. So if you have a 6-8 year old boy, it might not be too late to get in.

If it's any consolation, my son has played the Olympics game at a friend's house and he claims it's the only bad Mario game ever made. He was happy that he had played it before, because it meant that he *wouldn't* receive that one.

That game (Playground) is so much fun for kids. It lets them move around too which is good instead of just sitting there fixated on the TV/game. I would have loved to get that game, but since it was one she had already played, of course it wasn't an option for her to get it. I am buying it for Christmas though.

My son's been playing the Playground game since he got it yesterday. He likes it, but not as much as some of his other Wii games. He says the Wii Remote is a little awkward to get used to in the way it's used for this game. So the one-day test verdict on this one is that it's not going to be a game that gathers dust, but it's not going to go down in history as a favorite either.
My daughter hasn't tested it yet. Her room is filthy, so she's stuck there until she gets it clean!

My 6y.o. has been checking the mailbox every day. She is so excited. The game game today -- yippee! Opened it up and it is rated for Teens!!!
Is is legal or ethical for them to send a teen rated game to a six year old? I am going to email them to see if there was some mix-up.
My son received Mario & Sonic at the Olympic games for the Wii and likes it so far even though he says it's a little hard. From the Know it All Panel.
Daughter received Mario Party 8 for Wii from Say Nation and she loves it. :)

We got the same game, my son hates it and was very disappointed that it wasn't Mario Party 8 or Mario and Sonic Olympics. I told him that he can't complain about a free game and at least he'll get the gift card and can use it towards a game that he would rather have! A good learning experience for him (in my opinion). I tried playing this game myself and it is very hard to play and control your person!

Yep, it's terrible. My dh could hardly play it let alone my dd. She'll have to keep trying to get to the 3 hour mark, but I doubt I can get her to play it much more than that. I told her the same thing about getting paid to do it and to not complain so much. We already have the Olympic one and Brawl, so I figure that's why we got something different.

I didn't think anyone still had a PS1 let alone play one. Maybe she meant PSP. If it is for PS1, then it makes sense that the game is from 2001. I don't think they make new games for it, do they?

I was going to suggest that those of you who got Billy the Wizard could complete the entire study (since you committed to it), then trade it on Goozex.
However, it doesn't look like this is really a viable option. There are currently 6 people offering it for trade and NO requests for it. Worse yet, it has NEVER had a trade request in its history. It's worth 350 Goozex points, which is VERY low for a Wii game. Sounds like this game was the consolation prize for this study.

I agree, don't know how I'm going to be able to get him to play for the full three hours, although we did spend about an hour and a half trying to figure it out so I guess we are at least half way there!
I was hoping to take it to Game Stop when we're done and maybe, hopefully get at least $5 for it - LOL!!!!

I wish it was enough incentive for my daughter. We have TWO new games here and she still didn't get her room cleaned enough to play them. I figured if she knew her brother was getting to use them and she wasn't that it might motivate her, but it didn't. She made progress, but not enough.

This went into my spam folder. I almost tossed it. It came from Sara Beth Hunter
You have been selected as a winner on the know-it-all panel! I am the person at Smarty Pants taking care of getting you your prize. We could either send you a $20.00 gift card to Target or a $20.00 check. Which would you prefer?
I'm not sure which I'll pick. Congrats to everyone else you made it.

New Survey Panel... I got in!
Hello, Know-It-Alls,
We have an exciting new opportunity for you and your kids to act as online consultants for kids’ clothing ideas! One of our clients—a MAJOR clothing retailer—wants us to put together an online group of moms and kids who know style. This is going to be a lot of fun, because you’ll get to preview ideas for kids’ clothing and outfits that aren’t available to the public yet. We want you to tell us what you like or don’t like, what works, and what doesn’t.
Your opinions are going to determine whether certain clothes are actually introduced!
As a THANK YOU for successfully completing the online surveys (there will only be three or so over the next several months), you will receive gifts from this retailer reserved exclusively for our online consultants! Also, we’ll keep you in mind for any in-person consultations that may need to be done in your hometown.
This is an incredible opportunity, but it’s first come, first served.
NOTE: This is only for families with children of a particular age group. So, if it says you don’t qualify, then it’s nothing personal…it just means that your child isn’t the right age for this one.
We look forward to hearing from you!

Great! You qualify to be on our kids' clothing panel. Over the course of the next few months, there will be just a few surveys (probably just three). We'll send you pictures of kids' clothing and outfit ideas that we'd like your opinions on. Once you've completed each survey, you will qualify for a special discount or gift from our sponsor. Can we include you on our panel?
Those are all of the questions we have for now. Now that you're on our special kids' clothing panel, you'll hear back from us in a week or two. We'll have some clothing ideas to show you. Keep an eye out for us!

Hello, Know-It-Alls,
We have another survey for our kids' style consultants!
This survey is just for YOU (not your kids). We're going to show you some clothing ideas from a MAJOR RETAILER, and we would love to get your opinions on them. The clothes you will see in the survey are made for 8 to 10-year-old GIRLS.
PRIZE: Once you complete this survey, the retailer will send FIVE (5) lucky winners each a $50 GIFT CARD TO THE RETAILER'S STORE!
