Sony Japan is to release a Bluetooth wireless headset for the PlayStation 3 on October 3rd, with a worldwide rollout expected to follow shortly thereafter. Although any USB headset is compatible with the PlayStation 3, the new device will be promoted for use in games such as Resistance 2 and MotorStorm: Pacific Rift.
Priced at ¥5,000 ($46), the headset hooks over either ear and runs for a maximum of eight hours before needing a recharge with the bundled cradle. The headset features noise canceling technology when used in "High Quality mode," with on screen indicators that display the current connection status, battery charge level, speaker volume and mute status.
Sony also announced today that the recently unveiled PSP-3000 will be released on October 16th in Japan. The design update features a higher-contrast LCD display and a built-in microphone.
The new PSP will launch for the standard price of ¥19,800, alongside a new "Value Pack" for ¥24,800 featuring a 4GB Memory Stick Pro Duo 2 and other accessories. A North American release is also scheduled for October, but no specific date has yet been announced.
