Benefits of the W:AR Collector's Edition:
- The game, usually $50
- Hero blister pack $15 ( http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/armySubUnitCats.jsp?catId=cat50031&rootCatGameStyle= )
- Hardback art book $30.00 ( http://slickdeals.net/?sduid=160240&sdtid=903992&sdfid=36&u2=http://www.amazon.com/Art-Warhammer-40-000-Novels/dp/1844162842/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1221749119&sr=1-5 )
- Hardback comic $12.99-$15.99

So close to $110 worth of stuff for $80. Not bad IMO

Tips and Tricks:

Increased Scenario XP
If you're a melee class that wrecks people, ungroup yourself for more xp. When the scenario loads up, right click your portrait and select "Leave Scenario Party." You'll generally end up with a LOT more xp than other people. In fact, if you continuously see an individual who seems to be getting an extraordinary amount of XP compared to everyone else, that may very well be the case.

Let us know how it is! I'm an ex-WoWaddict (I've been clean for 438 days now), but wouldn't mind poking around in something new. Age of Conan just didn't satisfy.

Unfortunately, wasn't able to get any W:AR time in last night. GF and kid over, and even though I could have stayed up after they went to bed, the lady and I had some angry make up... wrestling? to attend to.

EDIT: I will warn you though, my reviews will be a bit biased by the following:

- I love PvP and I've played a CRAAAAPPP game for YEARS simply because of its PK mechanics (Asheron's Call)
- I love Games Workshop.

I went to the BB and didn't see any copies of the game... and then I saw one big box that looked very warhammerish (I should know...). Sure enough, it was the collector's edition, and even though I was going for just the game, I didn't even hesitate for a second.

I've been into warhammer since... either 1992 or 1994... I forgot how old my first catalog is... but I can check when I get home because I STILL HAVE IT lol. As a matter of fact, I still have EVERYTHING warhammer that I've ever gotten over the years.

Wow, good find! I was trying to get my hands on a CE. I just went to their signing session in Fair Oaks Mall and had my Standard Edition  signed.

Yeah... that's about the only decent thing about my town; it's big enough to have a BB, but small enough that the majority of "hot items" are still available due too lack of interest found in the town overall.

I bet some people saw the CE and were like, "eff that, I'm not paying $80 for that," but like I said, to me, this is probably the only CE (except for maybe something w/warcraft/diablo) that would ever interest me, so it was awesome :).

A-ma--zon's Pre-Order arrived 10 hours before the official launch time. It was a pleasant surprise and definitely a good service.

I am still wondering where I can see my ping with the server....

I played the beta, and while decent the lag and bugginess made me decide to wait a month or two and see if they ever get it worked out.

I got fooled with age of conan, never again. And wotlk is out in nov so i may not pick it up at all.

I did like the pvp and being able to level. but it seemed everyone no matter how crappy they played earned tons of renown.

Alright so ive been an avid fan of warcraft for years as have most gamers. With Warcraft, Warcraft 2, and even Warcraft 3. And of course World of Warcraft was a major addiction. But i need to say for sure that Warhammer has the best outlook ive seen in a long time for an MMO. The fact that its a realm vs realm pride and that low level chars aoutomatically find an average level in response to others in the zone. (Ex: if you are a level 2 char in an RVR match with a majority of chars near 8-10 your 2nd level char will be boosted to an 8th level char in Health and Stats. Though it is better to have the abilities from the higher levels open.) It is true that you can fully level your char with RvR. Because in each match you make in range from 4k-5k xp not including the repeatable quests for the different Scenarios. And also you make a decent amount of renown. Renown is the PvP building block for this game. You have 40 character levels, but you then have 80 ranks of renown. And you only gain renown by participating in physical open RvR in your zone or through Scenarios. This includes captureing keeps and eventually the rival faction city. With those renown ranks you also open RvR gear for your renown level. This alone makes this game one of the best ive ever seen for PvP type gameplay. And then there is my favorite part of this game hands down (Insert Drumroll here). Guilds, they honestly make for my favorite because of the fact that it levels with your guildies. As you earn renown so does your guild in turn levels with you. I think that there are 40-50 guild levels and for every level it opens somthing new available to the guild. Including heraldry, guild banners (i will touch on this in a moment), and many other options ive never seen in other games. But the biggest thing is that you can litterally take keeps for your guild once you hit the required guild level. This means you take that point and then post your banner on it which drapes your heraldry over it in banners and also causes your guild to constantly receive guild Xp. But the guild banners also have a large play. You can upgrade them more or less when you get your first to have tactics (Aka Passive Buffs) of which you have a long list of. And these buffs become active for ALL of the same faction on your server once it is planted. It has a rather large radius and it helps to have to rally others. As a side bonus if you have enemy faction players die in the radius of the buff it also levels the guild. These are all just some of the top things that i love about this game. Im sorry WoW but your time is done. Now its time for the Age of Reckoning. If you have any questions about the game im sure i can answer them if they are posted.

I agree with what R4ver2z said and more. I didn't know much about the guild elements of the game, thanks for giving the details of that information. But I would like to add more to this review of the game, one my my favorite - public quest.

Public quest is the idea that you can quest together with people in the same faction in the same area without grouping together. Say if the objective is killing 100 mobs around the area. I killed 1 and then some other guy killed another, that's 2/100. This in a way promotes people in working together to achieve a common goal.

In addition, I am currently on a open RVR server which means that anyone is fair game on the opposite faction. If the other faction is here doing the same quest, then whoever gets to 100 first, goes on to the next part of the quest. So it's a blast working with people of your own faction killing the other players and mobs at the same time.

At the end of the quest, everyone who participated in the quest gets to roll on the chest and the top 6 rollers gets the loot. The people who contribute the most gets a buff on their roll so they have a greater chance in winning which I think is pretty fair.

All in all I think this game promotes unity more than some of the other MMO's I've played. Wow is really loot oriented that it really wasn't about the fun anymore at the end.

Yeah I will totally agree with you on the public quests. They are great fun especially when there are a bunch of people in the area to do it. But I wish the difficulty would scale with the amount of people participating. When it's only 3 or 4 some mobs are too difficult. But with 40 it becomes trivial.

So I had a good chunk of time this weekend ( currently L-13 R-11) to sit down w/WAR and I have to say, it's AWESOME!

I didn't read a single thing about game functionality/classes/races/stats/etc before playing, so I jumped in pretty blind. That being said, it was fairly easy to pick up and run with. There's an abundance of things to do... from RvR to Quests to personal character development (filling your "tome" with your deeds/actions/titles/achievements). In the latter aspect, it seems they took a page out of Xbox's book w/achievements.

I mainly focused on rvr in scenarios though...and there's a nice little trick.

Which brings me to my next point. I don't know how they did it, but they actually made two separate and completely viable forms of advancing your character. Questing allows you to advance at a decent rate of xp, and the gear you get from PQs and Influence from completing the PQs is very well laid out. Concordantly, the gear you get from renown, and the rate at which XP is earned from scenarios and complementary scenario quests is also very well laid out. If you grind quests, you might end up getting a little more XP, but your renown will be lower, and vice versa for grinding PvP. Either way though, both trees are perfectly viable forms of advancing your character and implemented better than any game I've seen.

Clearly though, at level 13, I still have a long way to go... so we'll see what's in store. Side note, my guild leader hit level 40 on sunday.

And if you go up and down the coast with the rare candy in the 5th item slot and hit the glitched it turns into 99 of them. Hmm *Throws a Master Ball at you*. Now whats sucka. j/k. Damn those middle school pokemon memories. Thanks for the reply.

Wow, Rank 40 in a week... thats just retarded gameplay time. But yeah, the game is so intense and has such a gritty feel to it. I dont think WoW will be happy in the slightest because i can see in the near future that this game will have a nice sheen to it. And it will dominate a large chunk of the Blizzard subscribers. As of right now though at least they are consolidating the other MMO's. Ive now met people from almost every MMO. Ive met people from Asherons Call, WoW, Dark Ages of Camolot, Lord of the Rings Online and many others. I even met somone who was still playing Ultima Online on a private server who finally left it for this.
I see a true war on the Horizon with Blizzard and EA Mythic for the power of subscriptions in the next year. We truely are in for a treat, because now they both have to step up there game.
Anyways, all i know is im so entirely happy that there is a new breath of air on this front. Its been too long.

I played Asheron's Call on the Darktide server. Some of the people I was playing WoW with are AC:DT kickbacks who've been looking for a decent PvP game and this is a very strong contender. I'm reserving my final comments until after I've been 40 for awhile to see how the "end game" is.

Course, in all fairness, I could go faster through questing, I'd just rather PvP.

What PvP grind? The game is based on PvP, actually its technically RvR. Guarding keeps, attacking enemy keeps with a guild or friends, sacking the capital city, capturing objectives and scenarios. How is pvp a grind when that is what the game is?

So, wondering how many people are still playing warhammer? I quit after a week or so I found the casting lag too annoying.

Has this been improved/fixed?

What are your opinions about the game now?
