Fable II is an action role-playing game for the Xbox 360 developed by Lionhead, published by Microsoft Game Studios. The sequel to Fable and Fable: The Lost Chapters, it was originally announced in 2006 and released in October 2008.
The game takes place in the fictional world of Albion, five hundred years after Fable's setting, in a colonial era resembling the time of highwaymen or the Enlightenment; guns are still primitive, and large castles and cities have developed in the place of towns.[4] Unlike the original, the player may choose to be either male or female.
Lead designer Peter Molyneux has played a major role in presenting this game to the public, as he did in the lead up to the release of the original Fable.
The game reached gold master status on September 22, 2008.[5]

Those gamers who are counting down the days until Fable 2 comes out are soon going to have something else to do to keep them busy while they wait. According to Lionhead Studios managing director Peter Molyneux, speaking on the Major Nelson podcast (hosted by Larry Hryb, director of programming for Xbox Live), Carbonated Games is working on three casual games that he describes as being "Fable 2-compatible."
Molyneux told Hryb, "It's a really big thing of mine--why don't games talk to each other?" Carbonated Games, which is owned by Microsoft, has previously worked on games such as Uno, Hexic, and Texas Hold Em, and will be bringing out three new games this summer.
Scotching rumours that the game might be released much sooner than anticipated, Molyneux told Hryb that the three games would be released in the summer, before Fable 2 hits stores.
The three Xbox Live Arcade games coming from Carbonated Games will be Keystone, Wizard's Tower, and Mage Dice. When gamers win, they will accrue Fable gold, which they can then use in-world when the role-playing game is released.
Molyneux had previously explained at his keynote at this year's Game Developers Conference in San Francisco that gold would not be dropped in Fable 2 when enemies are killed (a common gameplay mechanic in RPGs) but will instead have to be earned by doing things such as virtual jobs, or playing as a henchman for another player.
He also added that everything in the game was buyable--including not only houses, but also dungeons, castles, and pretty much anything else the player finds. Buying these things will unlock "a few little quests" as well. And, if the gamer is rich enough to buy all the houses in a town, then the title of Mayor will be awarded. If a gamer buys all of the houses in a region, that player will be named King, and if he or she somehow manages to acquire all of the property in the whole of Albion's gameworld, then the position of Emperor awaits.

Might as well make this an official Fable 2 thread ;)

When it comes to Fable 2, we will gladly gobble up every single morsel of information that Lionhead sees fit to give us. The latest entry of the Fable 2 developer blog doesn't give us much, but something is always better than nothing, right? First, the sixth episode of the Lionhead video diary is now complete. It's currently holed up at Microsoft, waiting to be uploaded to the Xbox Live Marketplace. When the video will actually release is still up in the air, though the word "soon" is mentioned.
Second, we have the brand new screenshot seen above. It is (if you haven't guessed) an appropriately spooky graveyard. We can't be sure, but we'd bet that it is likely filled with ghosts, zombies, or perhaps both.
Finally, Lionhead's community manager, Sam, is having his wisdom teeth removed this week. Best of luck, Sam. Enjoy the nitrous.

With Microsoft's Gamers' Day going on tomorrow, and some of their thunder already stolen, it's good to see that there is still much left to be seen. These new screens are accompanied by some new info as well, though the few new details will likely pale in comparison to tomorrow's news. For now the news is that the game is about 20-30 times larger than the first, it has dynamic weather and seasons, and it won't be the last Fable game. In fact, Lionhead apparently has three more titles left for future release. Whether or not the Fable 2 Arcade games are included in that count was not mentioned (though it seems likely).

We got a tip from Lionhead's community manager Sam about a new "developer blog" post, ostensibly one about Fable 2 prostitutes. You can see the sole image of said prostitutes above (and in high resolution here). Suffice it to say that the image above was seemingly the only article in the blog entry that actually concerned Fable 2's development. The text, on the other hand, is devoted to recounting Lionhead's liquid soap shortage and the resulting lack of hand washing, which is apparently causing a bit of panic. We don't want to spoil it for anyone, as it really should be read in its entirety. Just to whet your appetite then, an excerpt: "The people with the muckiest hands have become the leaders in this new order. "Make my tea or sniff my fart fingers" is a common threat from the artists."
Remember when Lionhead was asking for people to submit insults for Fable 2? We'd say "sniff my fart fingers" just rocketed to the top of the list. Hit the "read" link for the full blog entry.

Video: Birds sing and swords swing in Fable 2
Cleaning up after a long day of Spring Showcase coverage, we discovered a short yet sweet Fable 2 video burried under a box of Twinkies. A Twinkie fate that was brought upon the video due to yesterday's news madness. So, being the good bloggers we believe ourselves to be, we embedded the latest Fable 2 footage above for your viewing enjoyment and finished off the box of Twinkies for good measure. Like we said, it's a short vid, but it does a pretty solid job at showcasing some of Fable 2's enivornents, natural sites and concludes with an unlucky chap getting knocked into a well. It's priceless!

Molyneux talks Fable 2, hints at online co-op
GameSpot has posted a video interview with Fable 2 maestro Peter Molyneux in which he discusses (what else) Fable 2. While most of the interview is just Peter going over things we've heard before (XBLA games, one button combat, etc.) there are a few notable bits here and there. First, most of the interview is spliced with footage of the game being played in co-op. Second, at the end of the video, Molyneux gives the tiniest hint at the next big feature reveal. Specifically, he hints that it's related to "playing together," which he enumerates as the third of Fable II's three features (the other two being drama and accessibility). Online co-op confirmed? Oh, we hope so. Finally, Molyneux hints "when the evenings draw in and it's a little bit chilly but not very chilly at night, I think we'll all be playing Fable." So, October then?

New Fable 2 video: say hello to the 'populous'
IGN has posted a rather lengthy interview with Lionhead's Dene Carter, creative director for Fable 2. Alongside the interview is a brand new video that introduces us to some of the non-player characters (NPCs) in Fable 2. As fate would have it, the interview concerns NPC behavior (imagine that). Specifically, the interview talks about the three NPCs shown in the video: Arfur, Barnum, and Giles. While these characters aren't major NPCs in Fable 2 they still have a profound effect on the world of Albion and serve as "morality signposts" according to Carter. "Your interactions with them alter the fates of others, whole segments of the world and, in one case, the fate of their offspring," said Carter, further noting that interactions with NPCs as a child will have dramatic effects on the future, which players will uncover as they return to their childhood home as adults.
All in all, it sounds like non-player characters will play a much larger role in Fable 2 than they did in the original. If you're looking forward to the game, watch the video and be sure to read the full interview. It's good stuff.

Fable 2 does away with HUD and cut scenes
Going HUD'less and doing away with pre-rendered cut scenes are oh so fashionable in the industry these days, so it should come as no surprise that Fable 2 will both both HUD'less and pre-rendered cut scene'less. OXM confirmed these deats after getting a chance to play a content-complete version of Fable 2 where they confirm that "non-interactive cinematics take up less than five minutes of game time" as well mention that no HUD will be used to "streamline the experience as much as possible." Really, who needs HUDs or cut scenes anyway? Eh?

[10:48] Peter Molyneux takes the stage now. "Fable 2 is finished," he says.
[10:51] Molyneux introduces a clip of the game showing off the world of Fable 2. A sparrow flies through the fantasy world and into a walled city surrounding a castle. People go about their business in the very active city as the bird perches on a ledge, and releases the most dramatically depicted dropping the game industry has ever seen. It lands on a small child's head, who's told it's good luck. That, Molyneux says, is the beginning of the game.
[10:52] Now there's a demonstration of the online cooperative play in Fable 2, and a mechanic that will let players invite their friends into the game world without lobbies or other atmosphere-breaking elements. He says you can hack and slash together, go into a bar and get drunk, or otherwise just hang out. Molyneux introduces us to his in-game wife.
[10:53] Molyneux and his co-op partner interact with his family in a variety of ways before the demo ends. One last bit of news: Fable 2 will be out in October of this year, as Molyneux previously hinted.

The demo looked fairly neat, especially with the online co-op interface (though it may be unnerving to have balls floating around everywhere). However, the walk/run animations were terrible. I can't get over that.

Agreed.
This game looks like it'll play a lot like Black and White to me - given that I've never played the first Fable. It's neat to have so much freedom, and I think it'll be fun at first, but after awhile it may get old without direction and objective. The financial side of the game sounds like early Ultima Online where you have skills you'll need to use in order to create goods or perform services.

Fable 2 main quest will be around 12 hours long
We had a lot of fun playing Fable 2 last night (more on that in a bit), so we were disappointed when we heard from several Lionhead staffers that the game's main story would take most around 12 hours to complete. It's not that we thought we were getting ripped off, after last night we just hoping the answer would be a little closer to a hojillion.
Also, keep in mind: That's just for the main story. That's not figuring in the time you'll spend gambling, romancing, trying to get fat and all the other side quests that make Fable so Fabley.

live at E3 2008 Take-Two press conference
10:44 am PT: Just chilling as the press-type folk move on in. Linkin Park is playing,
10:46 am: Strauss takes the stage10:50 am: Strauss takes the stage and isn't saying much. He's happy with the way the year went.
10:51 am: Ben Fedder tells us that BioShock is the most anticipated game of E3. Wait, what year is this? Ohhh, for PS3. Really, most anticpated?
10:52 am: Video time. Showing off a bunch of games we know like Don King Prizefighter, MLB 2K8, The Bigs, Top Spin 3.
10:53 am: Fedder says they're going to show off NHL 2k9 and NBA 2K9. Now Jeff Thomas, a VP of 2K Sports is going to take the stage.
10:55 am: Thomas says that NHL 2K9 is "all about fun." He says you can drive the Zamboni. The game will allow players to use the Wiimote as a hockey stick.
10:57 am: NHL 2K9 looks fine. It's the type of "family fun" the company wants to deliver. Here comes NBA 2K9.
10:59 am: Oh, we just learned that "if you know anything about sports games, you know 2K!" That's a nice note. Let me write that down. Did you know that?
11:00 am: NBA 2k9 for Xbox 360 is being shown. It's actually really good looking. There's a lot of stuff going on. Cheerleaders flipping, crowd reaction, announcers. It's sponsored by Gatorade. Crowd got real quiet when they scored, the reactions are neat.
11:03 am: Fedder comes back out and says Carnival Games has sold 1.5 million copies. 2K Play, the family focused brand gets its time. Carnival Games is being pimped hard core. Now we're being shown a Carnival Games commercial -- make it stop! Carnival Games Mini-Golf will be out this fall for the Wii.
11:06 am: Carnival Games Mini-Golf looks like the same quality as Carnival Games but in a mini-golf setting. So the 1.5 million people who bought the first game may enjoy it.
11:07 am: ZOMG! Dora the Explorer is coming to the Wii for the first time! AHHHHHHHH! Dora Saves the Snow Princess for Wii and DS.
11:08 am: Fedder is talking 2K Games now. Says Civilization Revolution is doing well and is talking BioShock. Now it's just a video of those games. Some Mafia 2 images. Champions Online.
11:11 am: Champions Online is getting a seperate trailer right now to show 2K's commitment to quality games and their move into the MMO market. The game is still expected next spring for Xbox 360 and PC. The images look lik a new version of the City of Heroes/Villian games.
11:13 am: Melissa Myer Miller, a producer, is going to talk BioShock PS3. She's saying that they wanted the PS3 version to be good and now she's talking about the PS3 DLC we wrote about yesterday. She's talking about the "challenge rooms" but not saying anything new.
11:16 am: Fedder returns to introduce Gearbox and Borderlands. Now comes Randy from Gearbox.
11:17 am: Randy is "really excited" to be here. They're showing off the same scenario we saw yesterday in an appointment session. Let's see if they do the same presentation script???
11:19 am: Not the same script. The characters are being attacked by "scags," which are like nasty dogs. The characters are searching throw scag leftovers for loot. Yeah, now they're showing off that the game has a half-million weapons with various alterations to them. Borderlands looks good for being pre-alpha. The game is an FPS RPG.
11:25 am: Wow, these guys are getting a lot of time for this demo. Now showing off an acid gun, throwing grenades. Randy says the game is different every time they play this demo. That appears to be true from what we're seeing. Guy just got shot with a shotgun and exploded, the audience seemed a bit shocked.
11:29 am: Rockstar time. Fedder reitterates announcement of GTA: Chinatown Wars. Video clip plays showing Bully, LA Noire, Midnight Club LA.
11:31 am: Playing a extended clip of Midnight Club: LA
11:32 am: Strauss is back! Hey, Strauss. He's thanking people who helped set up this press conference. Oh no, this is looking like the end. He says the company doesn't want to talk about vaporware, he wants games they can show. Yup ... that's it. *yawn*

While roaming the E3 showfloor earlier today we noticed that a demo version of Fable II is playable on two of Microsoft's kiosks there. We have an appointment to check out the game with Peter Molyneux tomorrow but we're as eager to play the game as you are so, ahead of what will likely be a more substantial Fable II story 24 hours from now, here's a rundown of what we saw:
The E3 demo version of Fable II appears to be comprised of six distinct demos; Childhood Male, Childhood Female, Combat Ranged, Combat Melee, Combat Will (that's magic), and Combat All-Rounder. We were invited to choose one and, after being told that the all-rounder character was the most powerful one available, we opted for that one.
Upon learning that our chosen demo would take place in an area known as Wraithmarsh we were unsurprised to find our no-shirt-wearing tough guy wandering through a sinister-looking marshland on paths flanked by dead trees. It didn't take long for our canine companion to prove useful--he found and directed us to a treasure chest that we might conceivably have missed otherwise, and then ran on ahead and started barking when he realized that there were enemies in the marsh ahead.
As we neared the enemies the Lionhead representative who was talking us through the demo encouraged us to experiment with all of the different attacks at our disposal. Mixing up your attacks not only causes enemies to drop more orbs for you to collect, but, on this occasion, it afforded us an opportunity to switch between sword, shotgun, and spell attacks on the fly for the first time.
Each combat style is mapped to a different face button; X is melee, Y is ranged, and B is will. Tapping any button causes your character to ready the relevant weapon and then subsequent moves are performed by tapping or holding the same button and by pushing the analog stick in different directions. We were certainly able to mash our way through the first couple of encounters pretty mindlessly, but it seems unlikely that you'll be able to make it through the entire game without at least some semblance of skill and understanding of how the combat really works. For example, you'll need to learn to use your block move effectively if you're going toe-to-toe with enemies using melee attacks, and when using magic you have to master both area-effect spells and projectiles.
Magic appeared to be one of the more interesting combat disciplines as far as the E3 demo goes, if only because we were shown how you'll be able to customize your arsenal as you progress through the game. You'll have five spell slots available to you, and by dropping different spells into them you can decide which ones are tied to which controls. Furthermore, all spells appear to have area-effect and projectile variants so, for example, when you learn to control fire you can hurl fireballs at enemies or create a ring of fire around yourself.
After fighting our way through the marshland and across a bridge than fans of Fable will recognize from early in that game we were told that we were nearing the end of the demo. At that point the Lionhead rep hopped into our game for some co-op play, simply by hitting start on a second controller linked to the console that, presumably, already had his character information saved onto it. Our new companion's arrival into the world was instant, and while we certainly glad of the company ahead of the final battle were a little disappointed that she didn't appear to have brought her dog with her.
With that said, we hadn't really been paying any attention to our own mutt while in combat and, when the co-op play started we noticed that the camera's priorities changed. In single-player the camera did a good job of keeping both our hero and his dog in shot at all times, but when the second player joined in she effectively took the dog's place and our pet, while still in the game, would often wander out of view for short periods of time.
Loitering around the Microsoft booth after finishing our playthrough of the demo we noticed that other E3 attendees appeared to be having quite different experiences, presumably because they hadn’t opted for the "Combat All-Rounder" version of it that we had. One guy appeared to be playing through a level much like the one we did but as a hero sporting long robes and a katana. Another was sedately exploring a picturesque village, contemplating house prices (Manure Manor is up for grabs it seems), swimming in the river, and even taking time out to pose for a sculptor in what appeared to some kind of rhythm-based minigame.
We look forward to (hopefully) bringing you more information about that stuff after our meeting with Peter Molyenux tomorrow.

Fable 2 hits US Oct 21, Europe Oct 24; Pub Games Aug 13
Lionhead dropped a veritable bomb today, announcing the release date for Fable 2 along with its XBLA Pub Games. On top of that, we now know the entire contents of the Limited Collectors Edition. Fable 2 will hit US shelves on October 21 and will land in Europe on Oct 24. The Fable 2 Pub Games will arrive on Xbox Live Arcade on Aug 13. Pub Games will be available for free to those who pre-order Fable 2 "at participating retailers", while those who haven't can snag them for 800 Microsoft Points. We're not sure which retailers are participating, but we imagine we'll find out soon enough.
The Limited Collector's Edition of Fable 2 will retail for $79.99 and will include:
* Bonus DVD
* Bonus in-game content
* 5 printed "Fate Cards"
* 48-hour Xbox LIVE trial card
* Collectible Hobbe Qee figurine (you remember Qees, don't you?).
The bonus DVD includes a "Making-of Feature" and a concept art viewer. The in-game content includes "'The Hall of the Dead' Dungeon, 'The Wreckager' Legendary Cutlass Weapon and Otherworldly Bonus." We're not exactly sure what Fate Cards are (like Tarot cards maybe?) but all in all the Collector's Edition sounds very hefty indeed. Now everyone has just over two months to start saving for it.

I'm planning on making Fallout 3 a day-one purchase, but I've been trying to decide between the 360 and PS3 versions for a few weeks now. On the one hand, Bethesda has gone on record saying that their primary development platform was the 360. They're also planning to release DLC exclusive to the 360. On the other hand...well, I need more games for PS3.
What platform is everyone here planning to buy it on?

Thanks man, but first I need to come up with funds... I'm not going to bother with getting stuff for that 'extra' $10 off while I am acquiring money for parts, because you know what? By the time I can afford all of it, that $10 off will mean nothing... because the price will be $50 lower!
Perhaps that is an over exaggeration, but I do think that when it comes down to me buying components, I will order them all within the span of one weeks time.
However, I have already bought my monitors for my new computer, and that is only because I can put them to good use until I can buy the rest of my machine :D
Thats perfect thinking and the same way I went when I built mine...I bought everything I needed within one week.... I bought most of the stuff I needed from NewEgg and some of the stuff has a limited return time on it or a limited time to mail the rebate in (the 8gb of OCZ Ram i bought had like a 12 day window from the day you ordered it not the day you receive it to send the rebate form in lol) and you really cant put your rig together and test everything works and is compatible with all your other parts unless you have everything at the same time.... that and like you said the longer you wait the lower prices will be for when you do have enough money to buy everything, but of course they will also have nicer stuff out that is more expensive too! thats why since i put mine together a month ago ive been avoiding the hot deals section a little so i dont see a better deal or a better product then the ones i got :lmao:

Since we're turning this into a PC building thread, I just want to say that it's so awesome how much money you can save by recycling some old parts from your previous computer. I just spent $450 upgrading my PC and now it plays everything at max settings @ 1600x1200 (native resolution of my monitor). Everything I can play on max settings (except for crysis which plays at 29 fps on high 1600x1200) I kind of wish I had a 1080p TV to hook my PC up to.
E8400
P5Q pro mobo
ATI 4850
2 gig of ddr2 ram (I'm running vista 32-bit that I got for free way back from slickdeals)
Everything else I salvaged from my previous build (HSF, case fans, HDD, 500W power supply, case). I've spent more on console gaming this gen than PC gaming. For those of you that are looking to take the plunge, this is probably the best time to invest in a gaming PC. I've never seen PC component prices this low.

I would do the same, except for the fact that my computer case is BTX form factor... my cpu fan is a solid piece of aluminum can, I have one fan going 25rpm, and worst of all, my on/off button panel is proprietary... god damn you DELL!!! did I mention 230w psu?
However, if someone found me a miniBTX mobo that has SLI or crossfire, and like atleast 1333 fsb front side bus, plus 45nm compatible for cpu, I would forever be in debt to you. Provided it doesn't cost me more then $150ish :)

I'm so glad I got rid of my dell.
I just wanted to add that you can actually build a really nice computer for $700 if you're looking into a new PC. That case on the front page is definitely quality.

I'm looking to spend about $100 only because I want some more expensiv e parts in mine that don't seem to go on sale all too often... 780i mobo is one of those parts.

Thermoelctron I agree that case on the front page the Antec 300 is a kick @ss deal fro $36 bucks! Heres what I got basically:
Antec 900 case
Antec 850 PSU
Intel q6600 Oc'ed to 3.0ghz (i am constantly converting and burning private video :bounce: and can do so and play games without slowdown with this chip even when im dloading)
8gb OCZ Ram (running windows vista 64 bit)
Asus p5q deluxe mobo (Crossfire ready)
Visiontek ATI 4870 HD
Western Digital 640gb hard drive
LG cd/dvd burner
Microsoft USB reciever to make the 360 controller work with the PC
heres what else i want but will have to wait just awhile longer since both my bathrooms are currently being completely redone:
Sunbeam Core Contact Cooler so i can oc to about 3.2 - 3.4ghz and stay cool (on sale now for $33 shipped AR)
another ati 4870 card to crossfire (when they drop to about $150)
A tv tuner card to turn my pc into a dvr type machine as well.... I see that TIVO and I think Nero are releasing something like that this or next month thats supposed to be great.
And two (2) 1 tb hard drives
then I will be done for awhile (I HOPE!) I really had fun putting it together its a great "hobby" like thing to do hunting down the best prices on the parts then getting them delivered and being happy opening them and putting them all together I wish it wasnt so expensive or I would build more since it was so much fun... maybe i can convince my friends and family they need a nice htpc/gaming rig so I can build a couple more...

You must have a fairly old Dell because I think they quit using BTX form factors several years ago. I jumped on that on Dell deal earlier this year that had 399.99 + ship + tax for monitor and computer. I have everything but the video card since I'm eagerly waiting for another sweet deal on the 4850; however, it seems like NewEgg has a 9600GT for 59.99 free ship. So I'm currently contemplating that.
i'm lazy so I just buy one of those Dell desktops that end up on the front page. I just change the GPU, swap out the PSU myself.
My Q6600, 4850 PC, 2 TB from 1 year ago (obviously not the 4850 part, and bought one of the 1TB HD recently) probably cost me just a little over $650

I really liked Wasteland and Fallout 1 & 2. I had been trying to avoid reading the Fallout 3 pre-pre-previews or watching the alpha and beta gameplay video clips until the actual retail version ships, at least that was, until yesterday. I do not know if my lunch had to much MSG, if I had too much Dew today, or if my slight headache effected my vision, but the short gameplay clips (a few minutes total) already started to give me motion sickness. Hmmm...

Microsoft just made an interesting announcement today regarding the Fable 2 Collector's Edition, by revealing that the retail price has dropped from $79 to $69, but they also removed a few of the edition's limited items.
Due to "supply chain issues", the Collector's Edition will no longer include the premium packaging, five fate cards or the adorable Hobbe Qee figure. Sad, depressing and crappy news! The new and $10 cheaper CE will be comprised of a copy of Fable 2, a making-of DVD and bonus in-game content ("The Hall of the Dead" Dungeon, "The Wreckager" Legendary Cutlass Weapon, and Spartan armor with energy sword). The new price for this less collectible CE is $69. Just think at how amazing that Hobbe figure would have been ... humph!
Finally, Lionhead is giving away a sampling of Fable and Fable II music tracks for free through Sumthing Digital. The album download will be free beginning October 6th and can be accessed by entering promo code "FableCollection" over at SumthingDigital.com.

Yes, you are correct. There are a few games that I like a bit better with controllers, like Assassin's Creed and Resident Evil 4.
I have a 360 and 4 controllers, but I almost never use it anymore. The only stuff I have it for is X360 exclusive games. I originally got it for Gears of War at release, and the promise of Halo 3 (disappointment) and GTA4. (awesome)
I only use my computer now for games... it is just so much more fulfilling and complete. That, and the mods that will come out for Fallout 3 will ACTUALLY fix it, just like what happened with Oblivion. I honestly could not play Oblivion until it was fan fixed, unlike Morrowind. (The best ES game IMO)

Poor old Far Cry 2 is getting ignored... it will own all three if the PC Gamer review is any indicator. And that is coming from a long time fan of the old fallout games, and both Fable and GoW.
I agree that there are simply too many games coming out in the next two months. Red Alert 2, FO3, Fable 2, GoW2, FC2, Saint's Row 2, Dead Space, Resistance 2, (not looking forward to the last three, but a lot of people are from what I've seen) Left 4 Dead, (yeah!) Call of Duty World at War. That, and Spore, Crysis Warhead, and Stalker Clear Sky are already out since late last month.
Sheesh.

Fable 2 CE no longer will have much of the content.
I preferred mine some time ago from Amazon for $67, however since they dropped most items, I changed to the regular ed, and combined with the $10 Amazon card, much better deal.
If you were to keep the Fable LE you be paying $20 for the content (which includes the $10 card) which has been posted already while back, but is still being offered.

Just barely stopping short of confirming downloadable content for Fable II, Lionhead ... um ... head Peter Molyneux told VideoGamer.com that it would be "pretty dumb" not to have DLC planned. Declining to officially detail what that DLC might be -- it doesn't officially exist, remember -- he did say what it might be if Lionhead was planning something. What it shouldn't be, according to Molyneux, is "just a whole load of new weapons and armour." Molyneux states that the content should be "a bit more tangible," adding, "it would be nice if you didn't have to wait months and months for it as well."
Just what is the mysterious and unofficial DLC? More missions perhaps? New locations to explore (the Limited Edition comes with an extra dungeon, after all)? A racecar bed?

... this shift towards DLC (while the game is still in development) should be shunned by all gamers; develop the entire content that you want for the disk and THEN think bout DLC.
the only way imaginable I can find it acceptable would be if it were a.) free or b.) the addition of the DLC would severely hamper delivering the game on time.

Lionhead announced today that the Fable 2 online co-op patch is locked and loaded on its end for day one of release -- now the developer just needs to get through Microsoft certification. This means when gamers try to enter Albion for the first time in their respective regions (beginning with North America October 21st), there should be a patch happily waiting to be downloaded.
At least reviewers will now be able to test out the online co-op feature and give an informed opinion soon after. We'll raise a virtual pint down at the Cow and Corset with a friend when Fable 2 releases for Lionhead's hard work on resolving this issue.

The good
Beautiful art style
Excellent writing, voice acting
Extremely well-developed world
Tons of quests
Incredible tapestry and breadth of great gameplay systems
Great achievements
Local and online co-op
The bad
Some visual bugs and slowdown issues
Co-op visiting player can't use actual character
Combat can be hit or miss
Breadcrumb trail is hard to live without but makes you lazy
Lacking depth in some areas
Generally not very challenging
The ugly
Deciding to put off questing for that rare treasure you've been seeking for weeks on your one day off from real-life work because the townspeople want your blood for overcharging, your wife is pregnant with your third child and she wants more money and nice furniture for the family, your ex-wife is sleeping with the blacksmith at the store you own, and your first-born son is attacking the neighbor's chickens with the toy sword you gave him.

We've received a couple reports this evening that some copies of the Fable II Limited Collector's Edition package do not contain the cards required for the in-game DLC content. A GameStop source tells us a company wide email notes that cases bearing an orange "48 hours of LIVE"' sticker include the cards, but copies without the sticker do not.
Although we've only heard about this being a GameStop issue so far, the same situation could be occurring at other retailers. We've contacted both Microsoft and GameStop for comment.
Allegedly customers are being told by GameStop to contact 1-800-4MYXBOX if they receive a copy of the CE without the card inside. We contacted the number and were informed that it was the correct place to call if we didn't receive the DLC card in the box. Midnight launches start in about 15 minutes on the East Coast, so we'll probably hear more about this issue soon.

Some copies of Fable II Limited Collector's Edition missing downloadable content cards

We have identified that some copies of the "Fable II" Limited Collector's Edition are missing the downloadable content (DLC) cards, which give access to in-game bonus content. This represents a small fraction of the total number of "Fable II" games shipped and sold, and is contained to the Limited Collector's Edition of the game in North America. We are currently investigating the scope of this situation and regardless the outcome of the investigation, we are implementing a plan to address it. We will have a means to deliver replacement codes by Oct 28th so please check back then. We apologize for the inconvenience.

I may be going out on a limb here considering Little Big Planet, Far Cry 2, and countless other titles will be hitting store shelves over the the next few months, but I don't care. After playing through the world of Fable II and considering the impression it made on me, I can say, without a doubt, that Fable II is 2008's game of the year.
Now, I know that CNET's Dan Ackerman told us all last week that Dead Space should top the list for this year's best game, but I have to disagree.
But then again, Fable II is an acquired taste. It's not the kind of game that will make the world rejoice, but it's the kind of game that any person who enjoys a fantastic storyline, even better gameplay, and a living, breathing world, will enjoy. In other words, the Wii gamer--someone who only enjoys playing Wii Sports or Wii Fit--will probably look at Fable II as a relic of the past that holds little merit. But for the rest of us--those that love gaming and enjoy varying styles of gameplay--Fable II will sit atop our lists as one of the best games we've ever played.
Trust me. It's that good.
I won't review everything about Fable II here (you'll have to wait for this Friday's Digital Home Video show for that), but the game's storyline is second to none. That said, it's extremely difficult to describe it without giving away too many details.
So, let me just say that you can play as a man or woman in Albion 500 years after the conclusion of the original Fable. Much like the first game, you're forced to make a series of tough decisions each step of the way as you progress through the game and every single choice you make will have a lasting impact on your notoriety, the way villagers think of you, and whether or not you'll be able to progress through the story. Some decisions are easy: do you want to help the villagers or kill them? Others are far more difficult: do you want to sacrifice someone for the good of your mission or help them and forgo the job you were sent to perform? For better or worse, the choice is yours.
But it's that choice that makes Fable II such a compelling title. Maybe you'll decide to get married and buy a house for your spouse. Some houses (usually those that are cheaper) won't appeal to your upper-class wife, so you'll need to go find a job to make enough money to buy the nicer home. Or maybe you just lost 100 Gold in a game and you're sick and tired of losing so you decide to kill the person running the game. When that happens, you get confronted by the Sheriff and his henchmen and maybe you decide to kill them instead of paying a fine to stay out of jail. Or maybe you decide to pay for your crime and perform some community service. It's all up to you.
Unlike the first Fable game, which suffered from a somewhat dull world, the new Albion is much bigger and far more entertaining. Regardless of where you are, what you've done, or who you've become, Albion is a living, breathing world that won't stop for you or anyone else. If you decide to be evil, villagers will react to you and run as soon as they see your ugly face. If you decide to be a good person that never does wrong, villagers will offer you gifts and become attracted to your dashing looks. And all the while, you can enjoy having praise heaped upon you, marry two women in 10 minutes and put them up in houses across the street from each other to make them fight, or spend some time working for the Bowerstone Market blacksmith. Every one of those decisions will change the way people look at you.
But it's the main story and solid fighting mechanics that sets Fable II apart from the rest of the games released so far this year. Without giving too much away, the story is superb. It's a tale of revenge, deceit, retribution, and patience. It's a story that will rival any RPG ever released and will make you actually care what happens.
Much like the story, fighting in Fable II is fantastic. You can wield crossbows, melee weapons, swords, cast spells, or shoot guns at enemies and along the way, you'll be happy to know that you can target any enemy you want and attacking has never been easier. On some levels, Fable II's fighting mechanics remind me of the God of War's, but I think the latter's is slightly better.
For as great as Fable II is, it should be noted that it's an easy game. You don't really "die." Instead, you get "knocked out" and lose all experience points that you didn't collect during a fight. Once you wake up, you're back into the fight where you left off and will stay there until you kill all the enemies. In one difficult area in the game, I died three times during a fight and wasn't forced to start over or face more enemies. That may be a problem to the RPG faithful out there, but I think it made the game more enjoyable.
So why is Fable II the game of the year? Two reasons: I don't see too many candidates out there now that would be deserving of such a title and the game's storyline, consequence engine, fighting, and lively, graphically gorgeous world make it almost perfect. And that's before I even mention the fact that Xbox Live will play an important role in extending this game beyond your home and that a dog accompanies you throughout the game to help you in your quest.
Most games today fail to impress me on too many fronts. Some titles are boring, others have poor control schemes, and still others lack in gameplay. But Fable II is different. It's a game that not only impressed me, it made me wonder why more companies aren't willing to go the extra mile to create a living, breathing environment that will have a direct impact on you as a person.
Once you play Fable II, you won't want to put it down. Trust me, it's that good.

I found how he tried to present it weird - I know what he was trying to say but he didn't say it correctly.
I think he meant the casual gamer won't appreciate this as much - and the "casual gamer" is the Wii audience. (Even that point doesn't make much sense).

Yeah, that's what I'm trying to say, but probably not expressing properly. He basically says "if you like games heavy in story and good gameplay and encompassing worlds, you'll like this game. Therefore, if you like the Wii, you won't like it." Or perhaps with slight less exaggeration, "if you like Wii sports, you won't like it." :scratchh: The first sentence makes sense. The second sentence comes out of left field and is something I'd expect on a system fansite blog, not on cnet.

Got an email about a fable 2 promotion. Go to http://fable2.xbox.com/experience.aspx?lang=en-US play the video, then accept your reward, it gets linked to your xbox live account so when you play Fable 2, and your connected to xbox live, you'll get your rewards.
So far I got 3:
3 Piece Chicken Suit
Book & Ink
Lion Head Tattoo
Seems you can just play again and again to get different rewards. You can press the >| button at the bottom left to skip most of the scenes. It will make you play the ones that you have to select something though.

Fable 2 will be receiving much-needed patches for its Abbot Quest and co-op bugs sometime soon, reports Kotaku. Lionhead Community Manager Sam Van Tilburgh commented that "some [bugs] (like the Abbot Quest) have been fixed already." He said that some of the issues being brought up on the forums "aren't with the game necessarily," which could be referring to the game freezing for some players. Though the patch is done, he does say "there is no news yet" concerning when it may arrive. Given that this is a game published by Microsoft Game Studios, it will probably be certified quickly.
Some buyers of the Limited Edition of the game have reported that they're missing their DLC codes for the Master Chief armor, and Van Tilburgh says that issue should be resolved tomorrow (October 28). In addition, the Lionhead Community Blog will be updating throughout the week with codes to download Fable 2 Pub Games for free. Unfortunately, it's first-come, first-served, and you'll be competing with the entire internet. So good luck with that.

Once filled out and submitted, Microsoft will email your Fable II DLC redemption code within' five business days. Easy as cake! So i played this game, and my final verdict is that this game totally blew chunks compared to the first, the gameplay was short, the gameplay was crappy, it was full of bugs, the storyline sucked, the ending sucked. It was supposed to be a game all about choices, but it was extremely linear. There were like an astounding grand total of like 6 different enemies to fight "yay more flying beatles!" ... the supposed ground breaking multiplayer was buggy, the camera view sucked, and was awful .... Overall i hate this game and regret ever purchasing it :)

It all started for me when I first bought a house and a message appeared on the top saying something about buying new furniture and wouldnt go away no matter what. If it did go away for a minute, it would come right back up when i was running around.
Now it says something about I need a key for something... but this is just when im running around fighting or doing random quests.
