I just wanted to know peoples opinions out there for a good blu-ray player other then the playstation 3. I am looking to buy an entry level player for another TV in the house and I dont see the need of having to ps3's. So far ive been looking at the Sony BDP-S350 and the Samsung BDP 1500. Please help me out with my decision, thanks!

Go with whatever is cheapest. I'm guessing because you said it was "another tv" that this is not the main viewing area and probably doesn't have a nice speaker setup. The more expensive players have on-board audio decoding as well as some other features that won't be a benefit to you on a budget system. I'd check reviews of both, the other problems I have heard of are long startup times for some players.

Wait for a week or less than 2 weeks to get the new release of the Panasonic DMP-BD35K.

I read many reviews that this will be one of the best entry blu-ray up to todate. This one is better than the new Sony BDP-S350 just released recent from sony. This DMP-BD35 (DMP-BD35K >>> K stand for black) will replace the last year model DMP-BD30K (which better and faster than the old sony last year model BDP-S300, and have better audio (bitstream..etc..), also a slot for SD card)

Don't buy the old model DMP-BD30K since the price of this old model DMP-BD30K will reduce in the next couple weeks or so. Also I saw some sites mention that the Samsung BDP1500 will be on black Friday for something like $149.99. It was onsale last week some sites for around $179.99 or so. Also this model was on the package promotion with the free Matrix Blu-Ray DVD Movies. The new model Samsung P2500 is also coming out.

The new DMP-BD35K MSRP at $299.99 as you can see pre-order at some websites as circuit city or amazon. You can google or froogle or compare price at some price comparison site on the web for around $275 to $279.99 or so.

Cheers

I know this may sound a little dumb but having a PS3 is already having a Blu-Ray player and it has all the basic functions.

I mention this in 'risk' because I thought it can help people save money, using PS3 to play Blu-ray while waiting for the prices of Blu-Ray players to drop... :)

The Panasonic DMP-BD35K is around $250 every where right know and also free with the purchase of some Panasonic Plasma TV currently in promotion. If you want to buy it in local stores so that you have 30 more days to return incase you can find it cheaper on Black Friday or incomming holiday instead of buy online. Currently Local Fry's have it for $249.99 and Sears have it tonight for $250 minus $10% plus tax came out almost as online price. Amazon had the 7.1 channel with onboard memory Panasonic DMP-BD55K for around $320 or something a week or two ago with 4 free blu-ray movies.

If you want to go high end, then the Samsung BDP-2550 or 2500 (same player), otherwise I agree with above, the Panasonic DMP-BD35K looks killer.

No matter what, you really want a BluRay player /w an Ethernet part (aka Cat-5) as that means the player will most likely support BD-Live (which will be overrated) and most players will automatically update their firmware too, which helps since BluRay is still a budding format and many times new discs won't play on players /wo an update.

The best price seems to be at http://www.jr.com/panasonic/pe/PAN_DMPBD35K/

I agree with Burtonsnol...go with the cheapest. Technology will change quickly...plus it's the spare TV.

This Samsung - BDP1500 is killer, plus you can get it at B&H photo for < $100!

The buzzillions site sucks... none of the top 3 prices were right and the link to B&H is to a dvd vcr combo player... the samsung 1500 is $209 at B&H

I like the Panasonic DMP-BD55. Plug it into your network and you can play DivX files and MP3's.

Avoid the Sony BDP-S350. I've read that it's already having problems reading the newest BDs. Try going to wize.com for your research.

Honestly - I'm not usually a huge fan of Sony, but really loving the BDP-S350. For the price you really can't go wrong.

Probably because people are not updating the firmware on the system.
