Would it be better for the community to restrict viewing only to registered members? Members should have "first priority" on deals before lurkers as they contribute nothing to the forum. Lurkers would be able to view the forum and topics, but when they click on a thread, it will tell them to register or log-in in order to view the deal.

Hey hey, sshhhh. I thought of that, but didn't want to post it. That's the #1 thing going against this suggestion. It will be a generous act as SD will be rewarding their hard working members for their participation in keeping SD alive.

I disagree. Before I joined SD, I joined a forum that was "hidden" to unregistered members. After I registered, I was very disappointed. After that, I skipped forums that are hidden to the public. It screams "we are a joke" to me.

I joined SD after checking all of the areas, and finding posts & people that interest me. I enjoyed the "test drive" and registered.

IMO, hiding portions of the site will keep new people from registering. We started as a Community Forum, and we will continue being here for the Community.

Another site does that, and it forces me to sign in everytime and I can never remember my password cuz I never check the stupid remember me box lol.

I say, make all Freebies and Hot Deals hidden for 10 minutes from time of post only viewable by members and after 10 minutes anyone can view them.

It would at least give the members that are on at the time and who participate some edge over those who do not.

This doesn't solve the issue kel_be mentioned about "test drive". Again, if they can get the deal faster from other deal site like FW, why would they signup after "test drive" period?

And less people viewing the forum (unregistered members) means less clickthru revenue.

The people here the longest probably only buy from hot deal since they are more experienced and well informed. So I think SD probably make the most money from those new and unregistered members since they are not as good as picking out those really hot deal and may buy stuffs even if they are just ok deal.
