Many people are spamming the Freebies section with "HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYBODY!!!!" threads, in hope of getting spotted and getting a free T-Shirt. Can a mod move\merge\delete these threads?

HOLY CRAP! I didn't even realize how many there were.. this is ridiculous! Quite frankly, kind of shameful too.. I have a feeling 99% of these people just joined for the shirt.. they say they view it everyday, but their contributions, or lack there of, prove otherwise...

Whoa! Not even close.. not yet at least.. seriously though.. notice all of the people who posted "i use slickdeals all of the time", etc under freebies.. trying to get the shirt.. which is apparently random anyway.. look how many posts they have

most have 2, one for the free t-shirt, one for the give me a t-shirt

shameful...

just clogging up the board for freebies

for those newcomers that aren't clogging up the boards.. welcome! hope they make some contribution.. not just post once and forget about us :(

I guess what is kinda bothering me is all of these people are like "I check slickdeals all the time... I buy so much from here.. oh, that means I need to take more, so give me a t-shirt!"... not that I'm saying I deserve one more than the next person, but what I am saying is that you can check it 2 million times a day and I would think you are less deserving than the person who checks it only twice a day, but posts a hot deal every once in a while.. it's the people that contribute who really make up this site, because if everyone only checked it, there would never be any new posts or deals...

And something else, they post deals that have been posted before so their number of posts goes up and it seems like they are contributing. But they are not...

I think it's kind of funny, in an ironic way, that users here are complaining about "outsiders" glomming in on their t-shirt offer.

After all, we're the ones who say we're "teachers" and "doctors" and "Kenworth drivers", in order to get our free stuff from other sites.

:D

I would like to think that the powers that be here are able to figure out who the fakers are and who aren't. Personally, that long t-shirt thread cracks me up.

well, it's over now... but they keep posting.. so that's kind of funny.. i would've been really angry if it were for some free pants cause I'm not wearing any right now and I don't really feel like moving for quite some time...

I say take the post count out from under our names. So no one can see how many posts we have.

I think you guys are missing the most important part about that thread.
It boost the membership of SD and this is a marketing tool that can help bring in more revenue.
Yes, it's sad that the individuals didn't read the thread and see that the give-a-way was over, but they are still new members.
Plus the chances are we will never hear from a lot of them, but the numbers still count.

I think your mixing apples and oranges here.
It's one thing to feel a bond and kinship with other SD members and this website and want to have a SD tee-shirt.
It's another thing to give false information to obtain free products.
I don't see how you are equating the two.

So you are saying that we should give false information to the kinship of products to obtain free SD members?

What the heck does this mean?

IMO bannoy was trying to make a comparison between two unrelated actions .
What has complaining about "outsiders" have to do with an individuals giving false info to obtain "free stuff".
Teach me Raddish, what do you I missing here?

What I was addressing was the posts such as
HOLY CRAP! I didn't even realize how many there were.. this is ridiculous! Quite frankly, kind of shameful too.. I have a feeling 99% of these people just joined for the shirt.. they say they view it everyday, but their contributions, or lack there of, prove otherwise...

etc...

and pointing out that we tend to do the same thing on other sites to get our free stuff (ie. sending away for free CDs of bands, mousepads from software companies, medical-related doodads, etc) when we all know we could care less about what the particular site offers, does, once we get out freebie. There are plenty of posts about "I don't care what on their free VHS tape because I'm just going to erase it and use it to tape my favorite show". We're denying others (who may actually be interested in what said company offers) those free VHS tapes just like these Johnny-come-latelys were doing to our free t-shirt offer.

The people coming here for that free t-shirt offer are doing the same thing... saying whatever they need to say to hopefully get that t-shirt. They could probably care less about the community aspect and all that... they saw a free t-shirt offer and they jumped at it. Just like we do.

Apples to apples. Green apples to red ones maybe, but apples to apples all the same.

on christmas slickdeals decided to order 25 shirts to be given away for free to anyone who posted in that thread. but many people were creating new threads, and some speculate that people signed up under different accounts in order to have a better chance.
