One of my threads was deleted today, and I still have no idea who deleted it. No one came forth as to who deleted it. I think this website should implement something similar to the warning system, where it will send you a PM explaining why your thread was deleted, who deleted it, and a way to dispute whether or not it was creating harm to the community or not.

The procedure for issuing a warning is different that removing a thread.

Yeah, but I was thinking along the means of making it more similar, because they are kinda along the same lines, right?

Hmm, alright.

Well, do you get my point though?

It's up to that moderators discretion, if they wish to send a PM or not.

What about this, a PM explaining who deleted your thread, and you can bring it up to the mod to discuss the issue at hand.

Like I stated:
It's up to that moderators discretion, if they wish to send a PM or not. There is no way of knowing who removed the thread. You'd have to send a PM to the moderators in that section & await a response.

Is there a way of making it known? I know I know, i'm being a pain. .. but I think it could clear some problems.

Is there a way of making it known?
I honestly doubt it. It's very very easy to remove posts, so I don't think there is a way to really know or program to set up to automatically notify the OP.

What version of vbulletin is this?

Edit:NM I give up, I can't find anything in vbulletin addon in any version which would support this...

Not a bad idea to send PMs when a thread is deleted...especially if it can be automated... but the better idea, methinks, is to not post things that will be deleted (or accept it when they are).

I think I have had things deleted before, but it really doesn't bother me. If people want a discussion board where they can say anything they want, they should start their own (kind of a "my house, my rules" concept).

:iagree: also.
:scratch:As long as it's not a lounge/podium post, in which case it doesn't matter as a whole anyway :annoyed:

Still not over... People still don't know why their posts were deleted.... here is an example:

http://forums.slickdeals.net/t22246.html?&highlight=delete+duplicate

Although I feel this video is disgusting, other people may feel that it isn't disgusting, and should be told this.

As seen by this thread, this individual still probably doesn't know why his thread was deleted.

As for the others, some moderators may have gone a little delete happy during that time, with no responses even after the users have recreated their posts/threads only to see them deleted again. I am sure that to this day they still have no idea as to who deleted their posts.

I highly suggest you implement my suggestion into this website, it would help provide people with the opportunity to know who deleted their post, and they can communicate to the moderators who don't tell them why their post was deleted. This would allow for the users of this website to realize what they did wrong and would prevent similar like posts in the future, rather then them still being out to the open to as why their thread was deleted. Some mods expect the members to know what they did wrong, so they play it off like "You know what you did so I am not telling you".

We should be notified as to who deleted our posts, either automatically, or manually, so we can communicate to them and figure out why.

I agree. A deleted post is really no big deal. But when a thread goes away? That's more than just slightly annoying. I think some kind of notification is only proper. Especially when, as was mentioned, certain mods get delete-happy. When a thread breaks a rule, it's no surprise that it gets deleted. When it's not even close to breaking any rules, but instead simply doesn't make a mod all warm and fuzzy inside, it's quite frustrating.
