View Full Version : Security Popups
I am getting this message on every page refresh from both "hot deals" and "coupons" forum:
"Your security settings do not allow websites to use activex controls installed on your computer. This page may not display correctly. Click her for options.".
It started just about maybe 3 hours ago. Any ideas what this is? Is this caused by the new banner ad?

I've been getting it too and it looks like to me (i'm not sure) like its coming from mediafastclick and tribalfusion which are 2 of of the most common results I find in my spyware results when I scan.

The easiest way to clean crapped up computers is to download HijackThis (free), and follow the instructions. Don't attempt to fix things yourself, post the HjackThis logfile on a site like GeeksToGo, and one of the geeks there will walk you through it.
They will suggest that you dl and install Adaware and/or Spybot S&D (both free), as well as an antivirus program. I use AntiVir (free, there are others, as well).

The offending banners have been removed. Thanks to Tufargon & Geeke19 for identifying them.

they never popped up on mine either but it was telling us that there was something "trying" to pop up and that they were known as spyware. Mr SD got it fixed anyway. :worship:

I haven't had any such problems since I started using this (http://www.monroeworld.com/operafilter/download.php).
There are of course more general purpose (http://www.proxomitron.info/) solutions.
