Exactly. I bought two (2) 500GB internal hard drives from Staples for $42 each about a month ago. I guess I'll look elsewhere for drives this year. Or may be eBay with CB.

Well, I won't be in the country to take advantage of the black friday promo so this only effects me so much. Though Amazon's post price guarantee has stopped, they do make "one time" (I put that in quotes because they do it often) adjustments. I just tried and couldn't get it on here and the guy said if it was more than $20, they would do it. But he did give me a $5 Amazon promotional credit. now I'm only down $8 which isn't too terrible, I'll live.

So I went to Staples in Brooklyn at 11am today. I wasn't interested in any of the door busters or anything, just wanted to pick up a spool of dvd-rw for $10 bucks that i needed immediately.

When i went in, the store was almost empty - a lot of employees and not a lot of customers - ratio was almost 1:1. I figured that the rush must have already happened but decided to take a look around.

I know that there were no major deals at Staples this years but i was surprised to find almost everything on sale was in stock. Saw the WD 640GB external drive for $70 which i thought for sure would be sold out but apparently they had them in stock. Picked one up - probably wont open it for a few days in case something better comes along but seemed like a good deal and i have been looking for something like this for a long time.

Now that im home an realizing that black friday is probably going to be crap for most retailers, im thinkning by xmas they are going to have to start giving stuff away to get customers to spend.

Amazon still gives you the price guarantee sometimes - I think their rule is if the price diff is greater than $20. Otherwise, I argued for them to give me something and they offered me a $5 credit so I took that.
