Watch Out:
All-Battery is OOS on the R2U batteries so they are substituting with the standard batteries.
I called them (1- 408-739-2833) and they said that they were out of stock on the R2U batteries so they substituted with the higher capacity standard batteries.
They said that R2U will not be available until end of January.
They said that they had over 4000 orders so they could not email everyone and just started substituting with the higher capacity standard batteries.
They were unable to provide the RETURN SHIPPING LABELS for returning the product back to them.
They told me that my best option will be to keep these or return these back to them and they will pay back the shipping charges later.
They are assigning the responsibility for returns on the buyer as they are unable to provide pickup service.
If you do not open your package, you can just mark it RETURN TO SENDER and avoid paying additional shipping.
Do the following now or when you receive your package:
1. Ask if they substituted R2U with standard batteries
2. Most likely answer will be "Substituted with Higher Capacity" and in that case ask for Return Authorization and hand over unopend package back to the USPS.

Why Tenergy Ready to Use (R2U) Battery ? Tenergy ready to Use NiMH Battery is a combination of a rechargeable and a disposable battery, the next evolutionary step for
batteries into the 21st century.
Immediate Use Like a disposable battery.
Because the Tenergy R2U Battery has a very low self-discharge, Tenergy R2U Battery can ship the batteries to the retailers in a charged state. Also in the shops Tenergy R2U loses its charge very slowly. This means the consumer purchases a charged battery, which can be used immediately.
Low self-discharge What makes the Tenergy R2U Battery unique?
The key-advantage of the Tenergy R2U Battery compared to usual rechargeable batteries is its extremely low self-discharge.Once charges, Tenergy R2U Battery keeps its charge even if you store it for 12 or 24 months. ( 85 percent of the charge after 12 months, 70 percent after 24 months ). For a rechargeable battery this is a revolutionary advantage. No more worries about the state of charge of your battery. Just, charge them and keep them. Even after months you will still have an almost full battery.
1000 times rechargeable In contrast to a disposable battery the Tenergy R2U Battery can be charged 1000 times. This saves the environment and your purse. Thus one Tenergy R2U Battery saves the waste of 999 disposable batteries.
But also financially the Tenergy R2U Battery has benefits. Even if you consider the slightly higher cost of the Tenergy R2U Battery compared to a disposable battery and add the cost for the charger and the energy consumed by the charger, the investment for one Tenergy R2U Battery returns easily after a few charging cycles.
Imagine how much money you have spent for batteries in your life. Now there is an end to this spending.
Broad Application Tenergy R2U Battery - the only battery you will ever need, One battery for all applications.
Tenergy R2U Battery is the right battery for all your applications.
It replaces disposable batteries in
Remote controls,
Cameras
Clocks and alarm-clocks
Electric torches,
Radios,
LCD-TVs
Toothbrushes
Shavers
Flashlights
Toys,
MP3-Players
Electronic games
Computer-keyboards und mice.
Tenergy R2U Battery-Excellent performance for your digicam With Tenergy R2U Battery you can make substantially more shots with your digital camera than with any other disposable battery. The main advantages of NiMH rechargeable batteries exist also in the Tenergy R2U Battery:
apr. 4 time more shots than with alkaline batteries
high performance even at low temperatures
down to -10°C during your winter vacation
rechargeable and therefore cheaper on the long run.Charging made easy With normal rechargeable batteries it made sense to charge them just before you wanted to use them. Too much risk otherwise, that the battery did not provide full power, when needed.
Tenergy R2U NiMH Battery is compatible with all of Tenergy Chargers

Bad Review (http://www.amazon.com/Pre-charged-Tenergy-AA-Rechargeable-Batteries/dp/B0018OFCLO)
1.0 out of 5 stars Tenergy.... crappy and false advertising, July 23, 2008
By Mati "Mati" (Chicago) - See all my reviews
I bought 16 of these Tenergy AA's and not one will last more than a week, even if you don't use them.
My low power 2-cell LED flashlight will run them flat in 10 mins, compared to 5 hours with Sanyo Eneloop. This is 1 hour after charging, having cycled them several times over a week to get them conditioned... using either of my Ni-mh chargers.
Very disappointed... a waste of money. The Tenergy rep said I should try Nicad, they don't even try to back up their products. Give it a miss and spend a little more money on better batteries.

Overwhelming negativity thus far. Unless I see some happy campers I'm likely not to pull the trigger on this purchase despite needing a cost effective rechargable battery solution. Batteries and razors, the least consumer friendly markets ever, ugh.

And likely half the quality.
I looked into those at one point as well and there is an amazing lack of third party testing information on those cells.
What I have found is that they have a fairly high self discharge rate for a LSD battery.
Tenergy commonly overstate capacity....the R2U cells are rated as 2300 mAh for AA, but will more likely be 1900 mAh or possibly lower.
I opted to get Eneloops and Rayovac Hybrids.
The Eneloops and Rayovac Hybrids are generally considered the best LSD cells. You can add "Duraloops" to this list as they are rebadged Eneloops. These are Duracell rechargables but only the ones w/ the white top and "made in Japan".
The best deal on Eneloops right now seems to be the $9 off the Eneloop combo pack at Costco...
http://www.cpfmarketplace.com/mp/showthread.php?t=186274
Edit: I also just noticed that this is a two channel charger. This is bad because the cells remain unbalanced. The cell that was fuller to start with ends up being over charged, and the other cell will be under charged. This will prematurely damage the batteries. It's also a huge PITA b/c you can't charge an odd number.

Horrible batteries. I had purchased 20-24 a while back, and these are probably the worst recharcheable batteries. Don't hold charge at all. Today I got some better rechargeable batteries from Costco, and the difference is HUGE! Spend your money on something a bit more known. Just my 2 cents.

Horrible CS when you try to return their inferior products. Batterybarn.com stands behind their products as well as Sam's club with the Energizers. These are not worth the even cheap cost unless you want to get stuck with defective batteries soon after use and short charge state. They did not stand behind their products, they blame you for any problems you might have.

I have purchased a number of no name rechargeable batteries and have always been disapointed. This included some counterfeit Sony's on eBay from Hong Kong.
I have found it is better to stick with something like Duracell rechargeables. You pay more up front but they hold a charge longer and can be recharged more times.

I was going but I am just going to stick with my Duracell ones from 3 years ago. Still going strong. I highly doubt he got a "bad batch". I dont see the need for 24 Rechargeable batteries. Theses are cheap batteries, cheaply made (obviously with the cheap prices and the quantity you get) Seriously this is a waste of money. T5327 code worked for me. I've never tried Tenergy before. I've tried really generic (green wrapper, no printing at all) NiMH AA's and they work fine, but older technology, low capacity ~1700mAH and self-discharge to near unusable in about 6 months. Latest set of Duracell NiMH 2650mAH failed right out of the box.

Your batteries last longer if you slowly charge them rather than quick charge due to heat. 17 hours is nothing to worry about. But if these batteries can't hold charge, you end up with dead batteries even if you didn't use them.

i bought a bunch of the tenergy classics about a year ago and they've done alright for wii, wireless keyboard, remotes etc. I've noticed a faiirly high failure rate (prolly lost about a 1/4 so far) but it was still worth it with the much lower price. I never used the included charger and instead took someone's recommendation to get a la crosse charger (luckily enough there was an SD on it at the time).
I don't know about these R2Us but the classic ones were not great but still worth the price.

The solar lawn lights I got at a box store used low-capacity NiCD rechargeables (800mAh).
I think you'd be safe searching EBay for some lower-capacity NiCD AAs.
Don't bother getting high-capacity NiMH for that application. Somebody's selling 24-packs on there for around $24 inc shipping, for example.

Although I don't have any of these new R2U Tenergy batteries, I have about 50 of their regular NiMH batteries and they work fine for my son's toys and other similar gadgets. While they are not great batteries (regularly reported by reviewers as actually being somewhat less than their mAh rating), they are ideal for this type of application where you need a bunch of batteries and expect some to get lost, stick in "abandoned" toys, etc. I have a couple of cheap chargers that I use on these including the cheap one that they ship along for free, and I've still had good success. About half of my Tenergy collection is more than 1 year old and still working fine. Sure, if you have a $1000 digicam, go out and buy Eneloops for $5+ each. However, if you have two dozen kids toys (many thanks to SD :worship:) that glow, blink, and bark, Tenergy cells for under $1 are the way to go IMHO.
I'm looking forward to trying their R2U now that they are cheap enough to make sense. Thanks to the OP, I now have 24 on the way to try. If they are only as good as their regular NiMH batteries, I'll be disappointed, but it will still be a pretty good deal. If they are even half as good as Eneloops or Rayovac Hybrids, it will be a big win.
P.S. I have bought these in several batches for I strongly suspect that I didn't just "get lucky" and get a good set.

I bought some about 16 months ago to use in my bicycle lights. I charge them about 2 times a week, so roughly 100 times so far and they work fine. A few have died, but so did one of a better brand. these hold their charge for the amount of time that my bike lights say they should run. Are they the best? no, but they aren't the crap that most people here want you to think.

For all those who think they flushed $20, here is one more positive opinion, for what its worth.
I have been buying tenergy batteries for years, as well as their "smart" chargers and have had a very good experience. I swap them out regularly with other brands, and do not notice them having significantly shorter lifetime. I have never had a single dud; my failure count is zero. Really.
I don't even really need any more, but I may get them anyway. I recently spent $20 on eight eneloops. Ouch.

This is from CandlePowerForums. IMO, this forum is the best source for flashlig ht and battery info...

I use tenergy(s) in my speedlites and bought these to add to the ones I have. Even considering the bad reviews, you can't deny that for recycling of flash units, these are better that aklalines.

I've had one silver Tenergy (2300mah) fail out of 24 in two years. I've had none of the blue (24 of them) Tenergy (2600mah) fail yet in two years. I've got a fairly good charger that has rescued a couple of nicads that got too old.
I use this charger: http://www.all-battery.com/universalintelligentt6278batterychargerwithlcdforn imhnicdaaaaacd9vbatteries.aspx .
And the reason is I use a load of batteries when camping (I camp a lot) for reading and flashlights. I always discharge/charge quite a few prior to leaving on any trips.
I'm happy with Tenergy, the failure rate for me has been fine, but maybe the 2300's don't put out as much as they are rated for. I can live with that for every device but my camera (4xAA) that only likes the 2600mah batteries.
For those that buy these, you are NOT wasting your money. Even if just one battery is bad, just compare the prices and you'll see.
I'm just a 'user' and don't have any interest in any of the companies, just passing on real-world experience.

I'm frankly afraid to put no-brand batteries in my stuff. :(
I've never had a problem with rechargeable batteries leaking unless it was an outdoor product and the batteries were years old.
I have had multiple problems with Namebrand (2 of the top 3) batteries leaking acid from new batteries, Although no recent problems last 5 years or so.
I have bought Tenergy's old style batteries that they rated at 2600mah. I had like 48 different batteries about 2 years ago. I'm down to about half of them that still hold charges. I have two of the best chargers out there that will tell track how much charge a battery is really taking and new none of them took over 2000mah and most were around 1800-1900 mah. Most of the ones I'm still using for kids toys will hold a charge for 3 weeks under no to very light load.
I have a problem believing that these batteries will again live up to their ratings. If no other company is able to make "very low self-discharge" batteries that even come close to a 2000mah rating then I doubt Tenergy a company know for gross under performance is able too consistantly perform even 2/3rds of their 2300mah (just a note more than half of the "namebrand" companies new batteries also under perform by about 5% and as much as 10%).
On the other hand the cheap price makes them deal, but know it isn't slick. I'll pass on this. I don't need the headache of trying to refresh crappy batteries all the time. I'll leave that to my kids for their toys. My toys get the good batteries that I can count on.

As for name brand vs no name: I have lots of different makes of batteries. By FAR the worst AA batteries I own are Duracell. The best are some batteries I bought from a website through a deal posted here on SD four years ago that are silver in color and say 'Powerizer' on them. I have yet to lose one of them and by far they hold the longest charge out of all my batteries, Energizer included. If I could find those again I would buy a couple dozen AAA of the same make.

I bought some Monster Powercells thru Thing Fling a couple of year ago...the still work very well
Just ordered them. I have a MAHA charger, one of the best out there. I hope the bad review is related to the included cheap charger. My MAHA charger has been a work horse for the last five years; it gives me an option to do a discharge before charging it all up.

I've owned the regular tenergy aa's and the r2u type. The regular ones are absolute trash. I charge them with the lacrosse bc-900 at 200ma and on a full charge they last a very short time.
For example. 4 tenergy aa's can turn a 12cm computer fan about 2hrs. I did the same test using 4 energizer 2500ah and the fan kept going over 48hrs.
Moving on to the R2U type. They seem to hold their charge well in my wii remotes, which only get used a few hours once or twice a month.
As long as you don't have high expectations ,you won't be too let down about tenergy brand batts.
The charger is 110v (at least by the markings on it) I'm too scared to plug it in the wall at 220v, but you can always use a small transformer.

I've used the older Tenergy NiMHs. I won't tell you they're the greatest rechargeable batteries in the world, but they work OK for my purposes (portable iPod speakers, bicycle lights, beard trimmer, wireless mouse). They do seem to lose their charge when idle more quickly than some of my name-brand alternatives, but at half the price it's nothing I can't live with.

If you are serious about saving money, throw away the charger and buy the la crosse recharger. I was starting to be disappointing with the short life of the batteries in my xbox controller. I bought the lacrosse and found that the other charge was only getting 800mAh in the battery. My lacrosse puts in ~1900 mAh and now I see good life.

IMO, the BC900 is far superior (more charging options), especially for only 5 bucks. Mine has been rock solid and reliable. The BC900 also comes with 4 AAs, 4 AAAs, C & D converters, and a carrying case, more than worth it for those alone.
Note: Having a cheap charger to jumpstart batteries is useful as well, since the La Crosse is "smart" and won't detect batteries than have been drained too low. You can either short a dead battery with a live one for a little while with a paper clip or stick it in a basic charger for a few minutes before switching to the BC7/900.

Mike,
They are pretty strict with their requirement, and they do check up on your links to see if they're working. They also take a LOT longer then they say to give you the gift certificate. But, if you write a decent review(quality of the review, not of the product), you will get a gift certificate eventually. I have written several reviews for their site and have recieved GC's from them in as little as a week, and as long as 3 months!

I ordered 24 AA, 12 AAA, 12 C, and 12 D Tenergy batteries from allbattery's ebay store after my twins were born almost 4 years ago. They are still going strong. I use them in all my boys' toys, remotes, and other electronic items around the house. I think they are great. I use a radio shack battery charger and have no problems. Now my radio shack NiCads... thats a different story. Just have to give them a little shock from the car battery charger and they work fine for awhile. I guess I'll do the same with my older Tenergy batteries when the time comes. Anyway... I can always use more batteries. I'm in for 1!

Just find one that charges both AA and AAA Batteries. Preferably a Brand Name. I have a Sanyo that works great. I gave my input on why I chose not to purchase this item and I am an avid support/buyer of "off-brand", generic, "knock off" stuff. Even for me, this was totally not worth it. But its your money and your decision.
I also made a prediction of the Future IN THE YEAR 2000 on how people will react when they get this item.

Yep, same reason I am getting them. I had some before (about 4 pairs) and used them in everything. Two xbox controllers, wireless mouse, and our digital camera. High power but low hold of any sort of charge. However, I must have used to a lot because they have started to detoriate in quality.
I figured I'd give these a try anyway. HOpefully it turns out great.

After seeing this thread I decided to do some research regarding a good charger to help prolong even crap batteries. This seemed to be the best I could find with stellar reviews in multiple places online. It comes with 4 AA, and 4 AAA batteries. It also includes 4 C sized, and 4 D sized adapters to let you use the AA batteries in all your devices. Its $37.99 and eligible for FSSS or prime.

The La Crosse BC-900 is the top of the heap IMO. I used included and free chargers for years before I bought this charger and the difference was night and day. I had a name branded *cough*Duracell*cough* charger cause three of the four batteries during a single charge to leak/explode. That could have been REAL bad and it was at this point I decided to get a real charger. The plus side is this will allow my batteries to hold a better charge and last longer plus it shuts it down when they are charged reliably so no chance of exploding batteries.
BTW, in case anyone missed my posts DO NOT BUY DURACELL RECHARGEBALE BATTERIES AND CHARGERS. Garbage.

Agreed. I have bought 2 sets of 24 over the last 2 years. None have died and are perfectly adequate for tons of kids toys, Wii remotes (remotes run for hours and hours of play time), kids leapsters, and even digital cameras. I even bought 10 AAA and they shipped me 20 by mistake. I use a 6 hour Energizer charger and have never had a problem. Just my experience, but for a buck a battery I have been happy.

The New Deal ...$18.69 after 15% off coupon (blackfriday) but no charger. (thanks verbage from FW)... (I confirmed FREE SHIPPING - must click on the links on the shipping page to get it)...
Actually, they sent out a Black Friday 15% off code "blackfriday", so the price is $21.99 - 15% off = $18.69. I ended up biting on this myself yesterday. Code is valid through today (30 Nov).
Item link is http://www.all-battery.com/cardnimhaa2300mahreadytouser2urechargeablebatterie s3cardstotal24xaa.aspx.
When I went back to look at it just now, I don't seem to see anything about free shipping. But when I ordered yesterday I assumed there was, and just went through the checkout that way, and it seemed to be free (I was charged $18.69). Whatever the case, if this does not work for you, there is also apparently blanket $2.49 shipping for any weight/quantity of items. So if you have to use that, the total will be ~$21 vs. the $20 from during the week.

I got mine a couple of days ago... I think on Friday.
I put 4xAA batteries in one of my alarm clocks and the battery shows up low on the alarm clock. I didn't charge them first b/c they're supposed to be "ready to use"...
We'll see how they do. I have about 60 rechargeable batteries in total now, if not more. :) The only thing is my other rechargables used to drain a TON after not being used for a few months. I used to keep all my batteries charged, but it was pointless b/c they drained when not in use.

Ordered and received mine already. Good deal.
Got some last year and I haven't had any probs. They seem to work about as well as all the other brands that I have with the same rating. But assume that they didn't hold a charge quite as long ... for less than $1 a batt how can you lose? I do wish that the charger light went from red to green to show you that it was fully charged, though. Which is why I don't usually use their charger with the batts.

I have just finished testing 8 of these batteries. I use a LaCrosse charger and charge/discharge them at least three times. All of the 8 batteries test between 2125 and 2225 Mah. I consider this within the tolerances of 10% error. I haven't even opened the included charger but I suppose that a 24 hour charge will be just fine. Very happy at this point. Just remember that they should be discharged and recharged at least once to get near 2300 Mah.

Doesn't matter. Maximum charge capacity comes after several uses on a new battery so you will get maximum charge after a few uses. The refresh feature on this particular charger basically simulates several uses by fully charging and fully draining and repeating.

The LaCrosse I have charges up to 4 at a time. I only tested 4 right out of the package and they yielded about 1600 mah at that time. EVERY NiMh battery I have tested was that way. In my opinion, new batteries just won't get up to their maximum capacity until cycled a few times. The only batteries I have found that test to their advertised capacity after cycling are Sanyo but.....they are NOT the type that keep their charge over extended periods.

Just a FYI... I live litterally ten minutes away from them. I actually went to pick up a order a couple of years ago at their office in Sunnyvale, CA. ...This time around, since it was free shipping, I had them shipped to me. It took nine days. Postage sticker says the 24th of November and I got the batteries on the 2nd of Decemeber. ...and it was shipped in the flat rate priority box. I'm guessing that are sitting on the order before calling USPS to come pick them all up.
As for the batteries... Charged up eight and started using them in my Canon speedlites. So far so good. I'm happy.
Thanks.

I just recently got the BC-900, and based on my experience with other batteries that's not bad at all, considering the price. My Sanyo (non-Eneloop) batteries are listed at 2500 and clocked in around 2350 after a refresh, so 2100 out of a listed 2300 from a no-name brand seems pretty darn good to me.

I just received my order of 72 batteries.
They did not ship R2U batteries.
They substituted with the standard 2600 mAh batteries.
I called them (1 - 408-739-2833) and they said that they were out of stock on the R2U batteries so they substituted with the higher capacity standard batteries.
They told me that the R2U will not be available until end of January.
They were unable to provide the RETURN SHIPPING LABELS for returning the product back to them.
They told me that my best option will be to keep these or return these back to them and they will pay back the shipping charges.
They are assigning the responsibility for returns on the buyer as they are unable to provide pickup service.
Anyone else in the same situation?
I ordered only because of the R2U types.
I simply want to dispute the charge with my CC.

Yeah, I'd definitely charge that back. There's absolutely no excuse for them subbing in a different product without your consent first.
I did get the product as advertised, but I'm going to be wary of these guys in the future.

2600s here as well. I called them and they said they would ship the correct ones in January and issue a pickup tag at that time (so don't open them is what I was told), or I can mail these back to them and they'd refund the shipping in addition to the cost of the batteries. What kind of messed up company ships the wrong, inferior product purposefully? I wonder how many orders there will be where people won't know the difference and think they received what they ordered.

Same thing here, I have not read the thread since ordering the R2U batteries, and opened the package I got today. I also got the 2600mAh standard batteries. When I called they also told me I could either keep these or wait until end of Jan and send these back for the R2U's. Very disappointed with how this was all handled. Now Im stuck with a bunch of batteries I can't even use for 2 mos...

I received my 24 batteries last week. I did receive the 2300 mAh R2U batteries. I guess I got lucky. I'm sorry to hear it did not work the same for some of my fellow SD'ers. Now I hope they are at least average...

I too was lucky enough to receive the R2U batteries. I got in on it right away though so perhaps that played into it.

I got the 2600 non-RTU's as well. I complained over the live chat customer service and was told same thing as above...wait til end of January or return now and they would reimburse price plus shipping. The problem is their website return policy makes it clear you MUST have an RMA# to return. I've requested an RMA# twice over the last week and I have yet to get even an email response acknowledging I've requested one. I'm also worried about a company that's automatically subbing an inferior battery (that they like to call a "higher capacity" battery) remembering to credit me for shipping back to them. I can easily see them denying that in the future.
I agree with above statements...it's just wrong to sub another battery without letting us know. They could have at least just canceled the order like most places do. I'm sure a LOT of people don't even know they got the non-RTU batteries.

Update: I finally did receive an email today. It was from a person's name, not all-battery or Tenergy so I thought it was spam. They are sending me a prepaid return label

I got the 2300mAh batteries and I have to say, I was skeptical after reading a lot of people's reviews.
They were SO wrong. The battery holds charges very well. This was always the issue for me when using those NiMh batteries. I have used the batteries in my wireless controller and I've only charged it once. Of course, I can't comment much on fast they degrade but based on the current performance, I would be surprised to find out they degrade fast.
Great deal, great price.
Also, the deal was posted a while ago...so it might not work anymore for those that aren't sure if it is dead.

very very very.. very.. very.. very happy with these batteries. they look good
initial refresh charged them up to ~2000. after several weeks of use they now charge up to ~2200.. very comparable to the overpriced, over-hyped eneloops.
