It starts at Friday at noon till midnight, so mise well watch it and call on each deal lol. Ill be done shopping by then.

FWIW, CompUSA has had very competitive prices for quite a while now. I get weekly emails from them and some of their deals are unbeatable.

It wasn't until recently that I realized that they were absorbed by TigerDirect.

And remember, CompUSA is now owned by Tiger Direct. So maybe all these prices are after rebate. And we all love our Tiger Direct rebates.

Beware CompUSA. They have limited items, poor communication, disorganized. They kindly allowed a line to wait ALL NIGHT for their "minimum 8 per store" laptops. We asked the manager and sales staff repeatedly "If you only have 8, that's cool. We'll go home and sleep." Well, they only had 8. I returned 90% of the stuff I bought out of disgust.

These deals sound awesome, but it's CompUSA.

LOL yeah!!!

they popped out of nowhere!

these are some good notable deals.
GeForce 9800 GTX + 512MB PCIe w/Dual Link DVI $ 189.99 $ 89.99 < question, is that the evga one?
Memorex 100PK DVD+R 16X Media in Spindle $ 27.99 $ 9.99 < price is pretty good.
HANNS G 19" LCD PINK $ 199.99 $ 59.99 <<< GRRR! why pink :(

and thanks OP!

-edit-
which 9800 GTX+ is the better one?

http://www.compusa.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4266278&CatId=3670

and whats the difference?the first one is the newer model. not sure the difference, except the cover is a bit different. i would think either is ok.

edit: here's eVGA spec sheets. i can't find the N879 on it so who knows.... http://www.evga.com/support/specs/default.asp?fam=20

Intel Core i7-920 2.66Ghz 8MB LGA1366 CPU $ 300.00 $ 150.00
Intel DX58SO Socket LGA1366 Motherboard $ 270.00 $ 135.00

it seems you are going to have to be peeled to the web for the deals. my question is, if they are doing the deals at certain times of the day online, how the hell am i suppose to know when to be at the store to get something or do we just go hang out all day at CompUSA?

dzap,

I was exaggerating, but I doubt the items that caught my eye will be available

Expect quantities to be extremely limited and "Sold Out" to appear just seconds after each item is announced.

For those of you who are glued to your monitors for these deals, expect to be entertained by copious amounts of ads, which will generate more than enough revenue to offset the charitable contributions by these two companies.

Meanwhile, you'll be missing out on the B&M deals.

That excel doc confused me even more. It list the 32" TV as 349.99. It also list a very interesting item: Project Gotham Racing, Reg 49.99 as FREE. I kind of doubt that anyone will be giving out free games, so either there's some rebate we don't know about, or there is some other catch that will be explained later. If these deals pan out that would be awesome, but without further details, I'm thinking that I'll probably be spending my black friday elsewhere.

#1) As I stated in my oiginal post...the items that are being marked down are available ONLINE ONLY during the webcast. The hours of that webcast are from noon Eastern Time to midnight on Friday, November 28.

#2) The webcast can be accessed by visiting: www.compusa.com, www.tigerdirect.com, www.com.puter.tv, www.pinkfriday.org and www.ustream.tv, When an item is shown on the screen, a 1-800 number will be shown and people will have the opportunity to make a purchase. Once the item is sold out, that item's deal is done for the day.

#3) Products are available in limited quantities exclusively during the web broadcast and are not available on company websites or retail stores

#4) While the 24 CompUSA retail stores will NOT have these sale items available, the webcast CAN be accessed from the stores so customers can still participate.

#5) If you do make an in-store purchase on the 28th, you will have the opportunity to make a small donation to Susan G. Komen for the Cure if you so desire.

#6) The reason the prices are being marked down is because the proceeds of each item purchased are going to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

#7) In addition to the webcast, consumers looking to receive Pink Friday updates can either text ‘PINKFRIDAY’ to 44636, visit www.pinkfriday.org and provide their cell phone number on the home page, or follow @PinkFriday on www.twitter.com.

And like the person who found it earlier in this thread, if you go to either my first post, or to www.pinkfriday.org/docs and click on Pink Friday 2008, you can see the entire list of items that will be available during the webcast!

Happy hunting, and Happy Thanksgiving!

Yeah, I have a very strong feelin that there's more to this than we're bein told. Im on the hunt for that 60' DLP but there's no way its going for $499, or at a large quantity at least. The prices are probably just opening bids as you said. Im not gettin my hopes up

It sounds like the toll free number will change for each item as they go through the day and the item will be available until it sells out (kind of like a woot off).

My question is about the text message thingy. I wonder if it will be sent at the same time they show the toll free number in the webcast. If so, no need to watch the webcast all day. :woot:

Okay At first I thought oh these would be put up Friday on the site, but then I read about the whole watching the webcast and then having to call in? So its sorta like a woot-off but you gotta use you're phone?
The netbook I'm all in for even if it's pink the TV is also a good price but not really something I can buy, and the Touch Diamond would of been good if I didn't already buy a Nokia N95 8GB for LESS (and its brand new...it seems)

edit:
After looking at more of the deals and that, I'm sorta really excited over the choices of either the Acer or the Lenevo netbooks or even the NEC projectors might be good, though the 9800GTX really is getting my eye. Hopefully some of these are up and I can have a slight chance of getting them before heading off to work.

Dear "Black Friday" Maniacs:

I am doing the kind favor of providing the scoop on CompUSA/Tiger Direct even though I have and will never, and do not need to crash into retail outlets like a runaway freight train.

I am an attorney who is the Acting Director and General Counsel for the Federal Adjustment Bureau, Among the numerous projects we undertake at the Bureau are a number of consumer related 'wrong doings'. I have a good friend who is an Executive with Tiger Direct and I am making this 'public service announcement' because I cannot stand it when corporations play their time-wasting bullsh#t games with unsuspecting consumers.

Let me first start off by saying that:

1. It is my humble opinion that CompUsa/Tiger Direct may have the best Black Friday deals of any retailer in the country;

2. This assertion has to do with their retail and outlet stores as I do not know quite what to expect online;

3. This ain't the usual CompUsa/Tiger Direct you are used to. Thanks to the 'benevolent' multi-billionaire Carlos Slim buying CompUsa and stealing its assets for himself, thus bankrupting the company, he actually did the American consumers a favor;

4. Tiger Direct used to have okay prices, but nothing to write home about, and CompUsa's pricing used to be so high and out of touch with reality that it was moronic;

5. However, this is NOT the case anymore and these joints are legitimate and I am astounded at this turn around in their business model and their response to our current economic state of deflation we are in;

I am a bit exhausted now, but I will post another response shortly giving you some of my personal experiences at these two (now merged into one) reailers which have occurred within the last couple of days.

Take Care,

Kenny

Yes, the minimum bid will be at least 50% off, therefore they are "available" for that. The spreadsheet from the site itself has in bit letters at the top "AUCTION" in it.

Okay you know what? Stop paying attention to the word AUCTION. They are calling the event a "charity auction" but no bidding is taking place. There MAY be some items that are going to be up for auction, but these 50% items are NOT part of the auction if any. You know how I know this? Because this was done last year:

http://news.tigerdirect.com/2007/11/22/live-tigertv-pink-friday-event/

So once again, stop with the "auction" bs.

Now, on to CompUSA/Tiger Direct ("CU/TD"). I live in Miami, Florida, but I now realize many of you do not live near a retail outlet. However, if you do, then I think it shall behoove you to go to the retail outlet even if their BF deals are not advertised.

Last Saturday my brother just happened to be driving by the CU store next to his house and saw some sort of tent sale. He pulled in and picked up a Sharp 46" LCD 1080p HDTV for $699.99 - an absolutely absurd price. He also picked up a Mitsubishi 60" DLP 1080p HDTV for even less than that although I forgot the price - $499.99, I believe.

Last week I went into that same store and picked up an HP notebook with an Intel 2 Core Duo and a 15.4" screen for $475. Further, yesterday I stopped by a TD store with a friend and their prices on big screen LCD TVs was excellent. I saw TVs by Sony, Toshiba, LG, Panasonic, Samsung, Sharp and more. I was there with a friend who needed to return something and I was not shopping for anything, but since I have been following prices on TVs for at least 3 years now, I checked them out and they were excellent.

In fact, I just found their one day sale sheet for yesterday, which was handed to me as I entered the store, and here are some of their prices: Toshiba 46" LCD HDTV $999.99; LG LCD HDTV (720p) $599.99 for the 37" and $899.99 for the 42". Further, their in store prices for some of their TVs by these same manufacturers were even better.

Furthermore, the store was loaded with inventory stacked in the back two stories high up to the ceiling. There was no bait and switch, one item teasers or anything of the sort. Also, they had excellent prices on their Sony LCD HDTVs - which in my opinion have the best looking picture in the business but are very difficult to find good pricing on because they charge a healthy premium above the rest of the industry.

I have never been a TD fan and that HP notebook was my first ever purchase there, and I think the prices at CU before their takeover was nothing short of completely laughable. However, over this last week or so I have been suprisingly impressed at their new approach to the tech business.

If you live anywhere near a TD or CU retail outlet, I would just show up and see what they have. They have a great selection of all sorts of desktops, memory, printers, all-in-ones, audio players, TVs, notebooks and much more.

Their stores are very well stocked and if they do not have the item you desire, they will ship it free to your house, not to the store. That is what happened with my HP notebook. I found it online, went to the store and they were out of stock so they shipped it for free to my house and it arrived within 3 days.

Further, to my utter amazement the staff was extremely helpful, courteous and attendant. I do not know what caused the total 'about face' in their way of conducting business, but I am more than pleasantly surprised.

I do not know what this whole online web broadcast will turn out to be like, but I do not get the feeling they are trying to play games with consumer. Furthermore, do not feel rushed by any retailer to get their 'stuff' now or else it will go up in price or be unavailable. Any retailer conducting legitimate consumer oriented business will have the same or even better deals up to and even after Christmas. Further TD/CU has very good online deals so you can just shop online after this crazy weekend if you do not live near a retail outlet, and their shipping charges are usually very reasonable.

Hope this helps,

KFC

Thank god somebody deleted that guy's post (KFCCON or whoever). That stuff was hilarious! I actually just registered because I wanted to comment on how hilarious his posts were, thinking he could just come in here and bash a community of people who are just trying to help each other.

That's all, just wanted to register & say hi cuz you guys are all awesome!

Can't wait to see how this thing plays out!

I'll likely have a window open on another PC while at work just out of curiousity. I wouldn't do this at any other time though.

I think KFCCON123 works for TD/CompUSSR.

I've been to the Miami store, and we must have been in two different places b/c it was nothing as he described. Haven't been to the NC stores yet, but I might go tomorrow since I'm not doing anyhting else.

I agree, I mean, I've had good service but those deals he posted were nothing like what I've seen at either store. And I would generally go to Compusa atleast once per week, and probably twice a month for Tiger living in the Miami area. I've been to both of the Miami stores (The one near the Falls, and the older one)

Well, Well, Well - just like I said. Just saw CompUSA ad for in store BF (actually PF) specials here in Miami, FL. Sharp 46" LCD HDTV 1080p = $899.99 and once you get to the store (and it just depends what each individual store happens to have in stock) they may have some that are classified as "Open Box", but for some reason some of these are still new in the box and will go for $699.99. Same possibility for all of the Mitsubishi DLP models 60" through 73".

Sharp deal is guaranteed to be a minimum of 15 per store and one per person, and a store manager may even order one for you if they are sold out.

Just trying to help out the beaten down American consumer with something I have no beneficial interest in, but just happened to come across from my brother who called me at 2:00 AM this morning. In fact, I obtain the new Pioneer Elite Kuro models straight from Pioneer at wholesale; thus I do not even purchase the makes, models and class range of products sold at CU/TD and I almost never go out to shop, much less at retail establishments.

Therefore, I spent some of my own free time and followed upon on information I had obtained to pass it along to those who may need it to be a good Samaritan. As usual, no good deed goes unpunished.

Waste of time and above all a downright fraud and deception. As has been discussed, do you really think that it will be easily possible to be one of a few (out of thousands upon thousands watching the webcast) to get a $5000 Sony subnotebook for $1000, among other items? And of course TigerDirect is trying to mislead people into thinking that (part of) the proceeds of their purchases at the "real" TigerDirect online/retail stores will go to For The Cure, which is downright despicable.

Of course I never expected TigerDirect to have the highest ethics either.

Well I'm sorta all for the pink package's and that, as for the people saying "you're wasting your time and you won't get any of these" well whats the different between this and a woot-off? not much, someone will get these products, it's only a question of it being someone on this forum or even you.

Just looked at thread again and saw your post. I checked and you all have the same deals we do. Sale starts at 5:00 AM and ends at 10:00 AM.

Go to "www.compusa.com". Then go to upper right hand corner and click on "Store Locator". Then find your store, click on it. Then on the right hand side in middle of page find "View Our Latest Newspaper Ad", click on it, and a 5 page file will load and you are there.

Now, on to CompUSA/Tiger Direct ("CU/TD"). ...
Further, yesterday I stopped by a TD store with a friend and their prices on big screen. ...
Further, their in store prices for some of their TVs by these same manufacturers were even better. ...
Furthermore, the store was loaded with inventory stacked in the back two stories high up to the ceiling. ...
Further, to my utter amazement the staff was extremely helpful, courteous and attendant. ...
Furthermore, do not feel rushed by any retailer to get their 'stuff' now or else it will go up in price or be unavailable. ...
Further TD/CU has very good online deals so you can just shop online after this crazy weekend if you do not live near a retail outlet, and their shipping charges are usually very reasonable.

Hope this helps,

KFC

Sooooooo ... anything further? :D

Keep in mind that there is a shipping charge for orders under $100 and/or more than 50 pounds. I was looking at there non-Black Friday deal for DVD media and they have 100-pack of Philips DVD-Rs for $9.99. But unless you buy $100 worth, it's a steep $13 shipping charge.
