There is no bedmo vegetables and if you google the telephone number and address in the whois you come up with a beevy of scam website the person has previously created

Are you sure you aren't googling the "Domains by Proxy" address and phone number?

Domains by Proxy is it's own business: http://domainsbyproxy.com/
A business that hides info:
Domains By Proxy was conceived to deal with one of the biggest shortcomings of the Internet — the loss of privacy. We believe you should be able to keep your personal information private when you register a domain -- and now you can, by switching your “public” registration to a “private” one, using our patented private registration process.

I am NOT saying Bedmo Vegetable is or isn't spam (yet),
but I couldn't even find a phone number for Bedmo,
just the address on the site:

Bedmo Vegetables
P.O. Box 0241
West Union, OH
45693
United States of America

The company doesn't exist.
This follows the pattern of other scam sites:
1. They offer nothing on the site except the freebie
2. Form submits without any information (you receive a thank you without entering any info)
3. They do not offer any company info and the only way to reach them is through email
4. They do not request an email

Now, I know that some will say well whats the harm, they don't request email and all the other information they can get from the telephone book. But they would have to go searching in specific areas and by going on their site, you are freely giving them the info to do what they will. Why?

I tend to agree with you, twynk, it does follow that pattern...

I just can't find definitive proof, as we often can.

thanks for your time! - not arguing with you - just trying to get down to the truth of it.

I agree with twynk as well and I think that for some reason, whether it's gathering information or what... these people are posting these "fake freebies".

I researched the actual olive oil (http://www.sabatinotartufi.com/) and wrote them with the link to the "free sample" offer. I honestly don't think it's legit, but by all means, if you feel it is, then enter your info and see if you get the free sample.

good luck.

Ok. I emailed the company that sells the actual olive oil (http://www.sabatinotartufi.com/) and pointed them to this website. They wrote back:

"Dear Vegaslove,
I forwarded your email to our security dept.
We really appreciated your attention.

If you need to purchase truffle products please call us directly and we will give 15%off .
Best Regards
Federico Balestra"

THIS IS A FAKE WEBSITE PEOPLE. You will never get your free sample of olive oil. I do not know why they're gathering names or information or what... But if the olive oil company has never heard of them.... I doubt they are real.

Thanks for emailing them and reporting back,
but
their reply does not give evidence that Bedmo is a fake site.
Bedmo could purchase olive oil at the grocery supply and give it away without the olive oil manufacturer being aware of it.

Your email reply from sabatinotartufi just says that their security dept will look into it.

AGAIN - I am not saying one way or the other yet,
imho, there is still no solid evidence for me to say this is a spam/phishing site,
though it may be.

They are probably gathering mailing addresses for those kinds of *home businesses* that specialize in work at home scams. If you've given them your address, you are in essence giving them permission to send you things, same as when you give out your phone number. These sites that pop up from time to time, offering samples, usually even say they are not affiliated with the company who makes the product for which they are offering the sample. I do not know anyone here who has EVER gotten one of these samples from ANY of these fly by night sites. If they're offering a sample, and that is the ONLY page on their entire site, then they are BOGUS. If you cannot even find a product info page, let alone a catalogue page to actually ORDER products, common sense tells you they are NOT LEGIT. It's just common sense people. Anyone who wants to continue insisting this company could be legit needs to find a sample of Reality Check!

I signed up with Quality Health through Start Sampling years ago and never got anything from them. Even trying different email addresses, mailing addresses, and "real" names, the result was always the same - no free samples.

I did not see ONE person insist this was for real.

I posted a couple of times that I could find no PROOF that it was spammy,
and repeatedly said, I could find no reportable proof one way or the other.
Sometimes the things that only SEEM suspicious come through - and sometimes they are spam.

pejo2004's report is the closest we've come to proof, since pejo2004 is a trustable source of info.

Thanks for the report, pejo.

and thanks for sharing suspicions, tlspenser...
I just have a difficulty making any declaration without reputable proof.
