i'd rather just buy an old q6600. the q8200 is $180 on the egg; if you're into some serious gaming or overclocking that ECS board is not a good choice at all. the ECS board will probably only net you $15 on craigslist/ebay. bottom line: not worth waiting overnight in the cold for

The $129 deal even came with a "better" ECS motherboard. The G31T-M only has two RAM slots and reduced audio. Although it does seem to have a IDE which the G33 did not include if needed (Sata only). Might want to wait for the Saturday deals to see what happens.

Anyone else upset about the ad? It's disgusting. Last year Fry's OWNED BF. This year... nothing. Granted, the economy sucks but I still expected much more from Fry's.
I will say though, if the $388 tv is the Emprex 32", then get it... its an awesome TV. I got it at the After-Christmas sale for $397 and use it as my computer monitor and tv in the bedroom. It's great!
PS: Toshiba sucks. They had a very nice Compaq laptop for $298 last year.... what the @$@# is this Toshiba junk?

Just because you don't see anything you want doesn't mean there are no great deals.
The $388 is a "Major Name Brand" (most likley Samsung), I doubt Emprex is even a name brand. That's definately a very good deal if it's indeed Samsung.
The 42" Panasonic Plasma for $598 is a smoking deal.
Try to find me a 21.6" LCD for under $100 without rebate (last year Frys had the same size TV for $140 after a $50 rebate), if this is not a great deal I don't know what else is.
There are also a few Laser printer/coplier deals with the lowest prices I've seen.
Just to name a few above...Although may not the best BF ads from Frys, but still easily trash other competitions this year.
what are you smoking?
obviously you and I aren't smoking the same stuff.

Any thoughts on the "major brand" 52" 1080p 120hz LCD fir $1198? Looks like the item is 5618341 and I can't find any matches searching frys.com for it. The only 52" 120hz TVs on there are a Sony KDL52W4100 ($2099 at Frys now, $1822 at Amazon) and two Samsung LN52A650 ($2099 at Frys now, $2059 on Amazon) and LN52A750 ($1999).

Rumors of LG possibly in the mix, but don't quote me on that. I've heard of massive shipments of Samsung panels to Fry's locations.
Anyway, a two page teaser? If Friday's supposed to be a one pager, is it going to be a supplemental?

I got so excited when I saw that deal only to go downstairs and look at my local newspaper (Atlanta Journal Constitution) and we have a different TV in place of the Panasonic! Its a Samsung 50" Plasma for $898 #5776412. So far I think that is the only difference in the the ad I see posted here and the ad I got. I guess they do have regional differences...
Edit: On the first page of the ad scan, there is a 7" portable dvd player for $48, the Atlanta area ad has an an LG 8" portable dvd player/digital picture frame (it stands up to display like a picture frame) for $48
Also, instead of the Panansonic DVD receiver for $299, my ad has Cobra radar detector for $27.99. Instead of the Rival Slow cooker and the oscillating heater, my ad has a Dyson DC-17 vacuum cleaner for $199.99

These are both good for the SoCal area.
Fry's generally does 2 page ads on Thursday then an 8 page on Friday, BUT this year will only be 1 additional page on Friday and then an 8 page on Saturday.
The "Major Name Brand" TV is a Samsung
The Sony TV prices are before savings, so the prices are $749 for the 40" and $999 for the 46"
Quantities on the Laptop and 21" LCD should be pretty good for each store.
Really good deals on all the printers as well.

Well, given the fact that Friday's ad is only one day, there "could" be some kick ass deals since it is BLACK Friday. Saturday is more of a huge overall sale with much more selection. I think ilikebike is the best person to ask.
Did you not read ilikebike's post? The Friday ad will be Friday only one page. Saturday ad 8 page Saturday only (correct me if I'm wrong), and Sunday ad will be until Tuesday.
Spoke to some other Fry's employees who have confirmed this. Saturday will have a 8 page ad.

Sorry, what time on Friday?
lol. You must be a noob.
The ads come out on the Friday papers. Only problem is that because it wasn't leaked this year, the ONLY way to find out is if you actually get the paper ON Friday morning when they actually deliver them. Hell, the two years I've done BF at Fry's, I went straight to the newspaper warehouse where they were actually BUILDING the newspaper together and then handing them off to deliverers.
The problem here is that by the time you actually find out what's on sale, the line at Fry's is already pretty damn long. While Fry's is known for their plentiful supply during BF, it's up to you to decide whether or not you want to brave the cold and actually camp out. Some people have gone in at noon and get lucky for certain items. But if you actually want everything you want to get, I'd say get in line soon and very soon. It's get crazier and crazier every year. Two years ago, people started lining up at 1030pm. Last year it was 830pm. THIS year I don't even know...6pm? 5pm?
The only way this works is if you get a friend to stay in line while you go and actually get the paper. Once you do get the paper, that's when you actually find out what's on sale for Black Friday. ilikebike has indicated that Friday is a one day only sale. WHICH means that you might have to camp out TWICE and get the paper TWICE for both Friday's one page ad and Saturday's 8 page ad.
For those actually waiting for the paper to be delivered, unless you have someone in line like I've indicated, it's probably too late by the time you decide to stay in line. You can't stay in line and get the paper ad at the same time. What could happen is someone near you gets the paper and they let you take a look at it.
The biggest problem with BF at Fry's is the fact that if ads aren't leaked, you essentially don't know what's actually ON sale. AND, you can't do it alone. You need friends or teams. If you want to get something, stand in line now, and have a friend get the paper for you later. But when you actually see the ad and realize you don't want anything, then it's time to go home because you've just wasted some time standing in line.
thx op, but so far the the 2 pages ad blows
This is just a preview ad. Like I said, the real ad is tomorrow + Saturday.

anybody been able to successful buy something off of frys.com?
Not today, but last year I got several of their Black Friday offers online. If you can get through to look at the ones with rebates, you'll see that several of them aren't one day only. For instance, Nero 9 is good until 12/4, I think. So no hurry on that. Order at your leisure rather than get stressed about it.

Sorry if there's some confusion, but I never said it would be a different ad than on Thursday. Usually on Friday they'll have lots of what's on Thursdays ads, plus a bit more (or less this year?).
The 8 pager is reserved for Saturday, not Friday like in previous years.
Quantity is pretty good compared to other retailers. Most stores should have 40 or more of those laptops, around same stock for the TVs as well.

Why wouldn't it be an LN32A330 like the one online right now? The specs of the "major name brand" online matches the A330 not the A300 (although sometimes you can't necessarily trust that shoddy website).

I've been to the last 3 BF Fry's.
Last year sucked.
The year before was slightly better.
The first year was best.
As far as my experience goes, this year looks to be very very promising. Especially the 32" samsung and the toshiba laptop. Generally, those $300 laptops were either GQ or compaq (last year). Having a good branded laptop for 300 is great.
Though... the front page BYOC stuff isn't too great though. We'll definitely have to wait until page 5-6 are released to know more.
Camera deals sorta blow too. I was really expecting the sd1100 to drop lower than that. The dell deal i got back in oct. for the sd1100is makes this one look like a total rip off.
Anyways, that's my 2 cents. See you guys in line...maybe!

Good enough on both that I can run in an hour or so after opening? I camped out last year for the laptop, was probably 50th or so in line... ran to the laptop section, and they still ran out. Monitors went pretty quickly, too.
And thanks for the confirmation on the supplemental. Will keep an eye out. Perhaps Fry's will save the day, after all.

And the "jokes" about george bush killing BF is retarded. He didn't force people to spend outside their means, told banks to hand out sub-prime loans, cause your parents/yourself to get fired and so on and so on. I'm not saying he's a good president either...he just didn't kill your BF.

i didnt even see the fry's ad last year til after i came from CC at 7am. they had about 10 cpu/mobo combos. last year was good. i need a new board/cpu/psu to complete the cheapo pc i'm trying to build. i have the $20 9700LED from the anniversary sale, the rocketfish case from BB, OCZ RAM and a couple 8600GTS, couple of DVD burners, some hard drives that i have lying around. So when I saw the ad this morning and there was the one combo in it it was a major letdown. Which is why I'm hoping that either in tomorrow's paper or saturday's there will be something worthwhile.
Just to name a few above...Although may not the best BF ads from Frys, but still easily trash other competitions this year.
obviously you and I aren't smoking the same stuff.I'm going to agree with Bestco on this one. Not the BEST Frys BF ad, but it's comparable to last year's and it does beat (even if marginally) other deals going around. In fact, I think if they had the exact same deals they did last year, people would still complain. All of your expectations are so high because all the other deals aren't "that great"
I'll be grabbing a PS3 from Frys. 2 movies, extra controller, and remote easily beats the Game & Movie deal everyone else is doing IMO.

Just a head up for those who was not sure that Fry's Ads descrition :"MAJOR NAME BRAND 32" LCD HDTV #5562150) cause of the servers crash or other reason.
I want to confirm it is a Samsung 3 SERRIES 32" LCD Monitor Model LN32A330 (PLU# 5562150) for orginal price on the box at $599.99.
I was at Fry's on Wednesday to check out the palletes that they put out for Black Friday and where the sale items will be in the store and did see and wrote down (mostly TVs) the item # along with descriptions...etc... as I predicted and posted in Slick Deals on another thread yesterday.
Fry's Ads sometimes very stupid that I see for year on their weekly Ads. They just listed the item # and sometimes the brand name but not the model # (which sometimes give me hard time to do price matching...etc....and also want to know exact model that they have since not all items are available online as in stores!)
This is more crazy on Black Friday Ads since many TV items listed as Major Name Brand >>> Who that Fry's think is in their "MAJOR" category ?!?!?
Anyway, For Your Information!
Cheers.

If fry's is trying to keep this a secret its pretty dumb. People have to see what is for sale before they will commit. If i have seen something good in the ads,i might feel compelled to wake up early tomorrow and drag my sleepy butt into their store. Now i'll just go to somewhere that i know for sure things are on sale.

Fry's was my last holdout but this ad is miserable.
Case is point: 50PZ85U panasonic plasma was $1399 + free panasonic bluray player 2 week ago for the regular Fri-Mon sale.
Currently, it is $2399. LOL.
Similar issues at Bestbuy, sears etc. Deals are somewhat warm at Walmart but the stuff there is mostly lowend.
I don't know what strategy these retailers are using. Maybe they are playing a game of chicken with the consumers. Or maybe they threw in the towel and are ready to have 20-30% revenue decrease this quarter. In that case, let all stay at home and conserve cash for the tsunami that's coming.
Anyway, SD saved me a lot of time and reach consensus that the deals this year are not worth thinking about, much less swipe my card.

Or maybe retailers know that simply the name "Black Friday" will get many Americans to the stores. And they're waiting to do some major discounting closer to xmas, when it might have a bigger effect.

Not being one to stand in line, I went to Frys about 5:45 AM. The entire lot and parking lots around the store were completly filled. I figured any great deals would be gone 1000 times over, and any deals that were left wouldn't be worth standing in the check out line for. I just went home.

It's the LG Scarlet 52LG60. My wife scored on in the TV line. I waited in the laptop line and was disappointed by a quick sell out. Not the sheer quantity of deals this year compared to last.

I purchased the i.connect 4 port usb hub for 5 - 5 MIR = FAR. I realized after I went online to retrieve the rebate that it goes to City of Industry. Now what is bought is bought, and I have to deal with this rebate. On the form, it wants the serial number. If you go to the back of the usb hub, they certainly don't make it clear (I'm sure it's a great way to deny the rebate). For me, it has S/N: AB123 1234567. These two are obviously not the real S/N in case they are unique, but in the first one the first two are letters, followed by 3 numbers, etc. Anyway, I just want to ask if anybody knows which one is the serial number. I feel like the second one (the sequence with 7 numbers) is the correct one, but then what the heck is the AB123 junk? They purposely made so many spaces in between the two set of numbers to further the confusion, and the phone number always puts me on hold (45 minutes and going strong).
I'm sure I can't be the only one that got suckered into this deal, so I hope someone is more knowledgeable and/or has dealing with this before.

I picked up the Sony DVD Home Theater for $199. Its $225 at Dell today; $249 BF at Circuit City; $250 at Amazon. bought online to pick up in store, and the email said I had to pick it up within 4 hours. Luckily, its only a mile away (and I'm not working today.)
Then, when I get there, it took them 20 minutes to find it (even tho it ws supposed to be picked by an employee and put in the cashier's corral). Still, I didn't have to stand in line to get to a cashier.
