I just checked the Fry's ad from my Newspaper, I read all the disclaimers and theres nothing in there that says Instore Pricing only.

As a matter of fact, there is a statement at the bottom that says.

The 21.6 inch monitor is already sold out as well, it sold out before I could finish checkout as soon as I saw this post. While the price is good the quality of the monitor was iffy at best, but since this was going to be for the kid's computer it would have been good enough, oh well.

The strategy was to order everything you could on-line, select in-store shipping and pick it up at your leisure within 48 -72 hours with no shipping costs. If you were going to go to the store anyways and wait in line, this reduces the number of items you need to rush after.

However, all the people that selected in-store pickup will also take away from from the total inventory at the store. Meaning people waiting in line now have less of a shot to buy one.

im not surprised by people who ordered online followed by Frys screwing you shortly after. This happen to me last year. I ordered online to secure what I wanted, I picked for in store pick up. Later said because of stock insufficency, etc etc.. weak sauce.

Okay, I just got my laptop today. It looks pretty cool, but there is one thing that really pisses me off.

On Black Friday, the page for the laptop said it had a Firewire port. This computer clearly doesn't have one.

I checked Fry's website today, and it doesn't mention the Firewire Port on there anymore, someone took it off. You can clearly see from the wiki on this page that someone copied and pasted from Fry's website that it did say it had one.

Now, the Firewire isn't a dealbreaker, but I was really excited to be getting a computer with one so I could upload my videos right to the laptop.

Do you think that Fry's will offer me some kind of discount, since they didn't honor their word?

I don't want to send the laptop back, unless they want to give me a similar one w/ a Firewire. Am I screwed or what?

Just got off the phone with Fry's customer service, and I spoke to a nice woman there who tried to help me. She checked the items old cache to see if the specs had indeed changed, but she couldn't find anything.

She said the best she can do for me is to check with the supervisor of that section to find out if there was indeed a problem w/ the specs of the computer and if there was they would reimburse my shipping ($15 or so).

Bummer, I really wanted that firewire, my brother says they make Firewire to USB connections so I guess I just have to check that out instead...

Oh well.

For those of you that got cancellation emails....

I filed a complaint with the BBB stating that Fry's tried to pull a bait and switch, since they still had a Toshiba T3200 in stock with a different item number. Fry's was pretty cordial and offered to honor the deal. Very happy with how things turned out.
