MP3 Player is a great idea, if she has access to d/l music.

If not, the Hasbro Dream Life is still available at Amazon and has a high ranking among the 10-12 group and it's made lots of 'must have' lists. It's a tv plugin game very similar to sims, but very much targeted to the tween age group. It's on sale at amazon:

By that age, they are sort of outgrowing the whole 'idol' thing (or outgrowing being obvious about it anyway) and more into things like games, social activities, music and anything else that seems grown up to them. Some other ideas: CDs, Movie Passes, Stationary (think cute little colored papers, stickers, markers, glitter pens, etc.)

My 11 year old wouldn't be cought dead in gymboree. My 9 year old wears 14 slims because she's soooo tall.
In fact, I dont' think their sizes go that high.
