When clicking on a URL for a thread that has been merged into another, you get an error message on the site. This happens to me often. It happens when a thread gets merged into an existing thread. The original thread ID is gone.
What would be great is if you could instead link the old thread ID to the new thread ID, so that existing URLs would still take you to the same deal. That shouldn't be very hard to do. FW does it by locking the duplicate thread and then putting a link to the new thread. If SD wants to keep merging threads, then at least keep all URLs active and pointing to the new thread.
This is extremely annoying for RSS subscribers, because we see the old deal title, click on it, and get the no thread error message. We would then have to go through searches to find the thread it was merged to. I'd rather it just link the old thread to the new merged thread.
