My brother has been telling me he doesn't have too much space on his laptop harddrive, so I wanted to get him one for Christmas! I know he doesn't want an external one for sure though! So when I'm looking for a laptop internal harddrive, will all of them fit into his laptop? I'm not too sure exactly what kind it is, but it was a toshiba he got from best buy about 2 years ago.

Do u need a SATA or PATA drive? You can find that out from laptop config. I think it would be PATA drive since it is two yrs old but there is no harm in checking

Two years ago I would guess is SATA, but it's definately around the time that you'd have to know for sure before you bought one. If he'd be happy with an external drives, there are plenty of deals:

Mmk, well I kind of want it to be a surprise, so I don't really want to tell him I'm buying it for him. I might be able to look at his laptop when he's not around, so how do I find out if it's PATA or SATA?

The easiest way would be to just get the model of the laptop then look for "[model] specs" in google. It should say either SATA/Serial ATA or Ultra ATA. If you can't find anything, pm the model to me and I can help dig it up.

Thank you so much! I'm not exactly too computer savvy, so I was wondering where I could find the model of the laptop? Like is it one of the codes on the bottom stickers or where exactly should I look?
