I bought the KitchenAid 4.5 QT bowl-lift stand mixer from Wal-Mart on Black Friday for $130. Sears and Kohl's also had this same mixer available for a little higher prices. This version is apparently a new mixer created specifically as a budget Professional mixer for sale at retailers like Wal-Mart, etc. and does NOT appear anywhere on the KitchenAid website. It is MOST like this mixer, only with a 4.5 QT bowl and only comes with the one paddle: http://www.shopkitchenaid.com/product_detail.asp?HDR=standmixers&T1=KTO+K5SSWH

What I'm wondering is because it ONLY came with the standard paddle, which dough hook and whisk attachments should I buy for this mixer? There are different types available and I'm not sure which I should be buying? Did anybody else buy this and have already figured out which to go with?

That's actually a tricky question! You need to buy the attachment for the correct bowl size - in your case 4.5 qt. But there are differences between the tilt head and bowl lift attachments. The problem is that I don't see a bowl lift in a 4.5 qt size. I would probably try to call KitchenAid to see if they can help you.

I've sent an email 2-3 days ago, but have yet to get a reply.

I bought one but haven't used it yet, it's my birthday gift that I'm not supposed to know about. Killing me to try it, I have to admit. Only six more days! :D

I love mine! You don't have to knead pizza dough, the mixer does it all. About the paypal thing. I ordered from Toys R Us getting a discount from paypal, my order was canceled I called Toys R Us to find out that paypal crashed on Black Friday due to overwhelming responses and automatically canceled orders..

I looked on the Kitchenaid website and didn't find any forums on their site map. However, I did email them for customer support and got the answer to my question. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. And THANKS a BUNCH to "udoobu
L8: Grand Teacher" for giving me two thumbs down. Maybe you should read a post fully before trashing it for being in the wrong forum??????

Please note: the 4.5 QT stand mixer that is available on the Wal-Mart website for $198 is NOT the same model that was made available on BF for $130. These are two completely different models, one difference being tilt-head vs bowl lift model. The one that was available only on BF has an msrp of closer to the $250 - $270 range.

Ummm, yeah, thanks so much for your words of wisdom. I posted it in the BF forums (not HOT DEALS) hoping that people who shopped on BF would be looking there.

So what did the answer end up being? I am curious if they made special attachments for that model or if you can use a different one. Glad you got an answer.

BTW...thumbs up for posting in the CORRECT location :)

Thanks for the thumbs up...

As far as the correct parts, I just asked specifically about the wire whisk and the dough hook, because those are the attachments I wanted. These are the ones:
