Hiiiiiiiii SD'ers. The Inspiron 6000 I bought for my wife about 5 years ago is done. Forget the details...
I'd like to buy my wife a new laptop for Christmas. We're talking basics. She likes surfing the web, sometimes photoshop, DL'ing torrents and watching movies.
What's my price range? Whatever really. I spent like $1000 on the inspiron 6000 back in the day (remember those $500 off $1500 laptop coupons). I'm pretty sure a good deal now should be around $400-$500. Yes, no? :look:
Reps will be coming.

Be up very early in the AM and hurry and you might can get one at Bestbuy on their Sunday Sale.
You have to really hurry though, and if you find one, and it says it is sold out online, check your local stores, if it says they have one, DO NOT CALL, print out the specs, and head over there. If you call it will alert the employees that it is there and they WILL hide it.

Other questions...
Do I have to friggin get Vista? If I'm retiring my other laptop, can I legally install the XP Home from that one on the new laptop? :)

It's tricky to try and change Vista to XP, the drivers can be an issue, you might want to check out like geeks.com, they have computers with XP professional on them still. That is what I did with my Dad, because I was not going to try and do Vista with him.
If you have an older copy and a license no you can use it on another computer if you are no longer using the first one I think.
