USB Portable HD IDE or Sata (whats inside)

hi all many times the portables USB HD are cheaper then the regular internal HD

is there a Data base of whats inside USB Portable HD IDE or Sata

IDE:

MAXTOR ONE TOUCH 3 MINI 160gb is IDE
Gateway 120GB Portable Media Drive is IDE

Sata:

MAXTOR ONE TOUCH 4 MINI is Sata
WD Passport is Sata

please help with your info
i can tell you that the WD Passport are very easy to open
