Okay. I waited till after XMas for the B&M sales. Went out today, 20% off at HHGregg, Misc sales at BB; and a Sony Bravia 42" V Series Open Box 1499 to 899 which I passed on.

So, this is what I want:

40/42" LCD/Plasma
Room: Low light bedroom, but will go to living room later.
1080p
120hz preferred but not required.

Mixture of football/XBOX/PS3.

what would you guys buy?

Panasonic 42PZ80U or 85U (Plasmas) (If you have to have 1080p)
Samsung or Sony are the 2 options you should consider for LCD's.

If your patient wait and around the Super Bowl prices will come down again. Not many deals out now.

Be sure to research LCD vs Plasma and 1080 vs 720. Depending on your room lighting and how far away you sit from the TV you could save a ton.

yeah, i think it might be worth to pay a little more for a good TV.

I just recently purchased at Samsung 40" and i love it. its a nice TV because its got a high contrast ratio. (40,000:1). Honestly, ppl say its not worth it but imo its totally worth it. you should go to circuit city and check out a TV you like and try to find a better deal for it.

I paid around $1150 total.

Thanks guys.

I've been leaning more toward lcd, however not sure I'd be able to afford the 120hz range units so I was going to go back to the plasma for action performance (football, shooting games). If I could definitely find a good 120hz unit in my price range I would definitely scoop it without question.

As for the 1080vs720, I'm definitely set on 1080. I do a lot of viewing via computer and have access to all 1080 material.

What kind of deals does SB sales usually bring?

We got a fantastic Sony Bravia with 1080p, but no 120 Hz, for $898 at Walmart B&M today.
