I am looking for a good deal on a good quality 1080p 42" LCD TV.

It will be used with my HTPC (a mac mini), so something that plays nicely with computers would be preferred.

Thanks!

I am also on the hunt for a decent 42" 1080P LCD HDTV.

I'm hoping to get a decent name-brand display and avoid Dynex, Insignia, etc.

I hear you. The best I have found so far is the Philips 42PFL3603D/F7. If your Target has it in stock you can take it home for $797 plus tax.

Alternatively, you can get it from Walmart either in the store (if in stock) or shipped for $797 + $30 shipping and tax if applicable.

I have been looking at a lot of TV's and this one seems pretty solid. Consumer Reports reviewed the 32", 47" and 52" version of this TV and they were all near the top of the pack.

I am all ears to other ideas, but I am trying to avoid the third tier brands that you mentioned.

I just really do not like the bezel of the Philips. It just looks so goofy (to me).

I have been open to 40" displays we well, such as the Toshiba 40RV525U (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9034626&type=product&id=1218011400290).

It would be nice to get a name-brand 40" - 42" 1080P LCD HDTV for $600-$800.

I'm still looking...

Yes I'm also looking for a 40-42" LCD TV in that price range of $700-800. Appreciate input if any new deals out there over the weekend.

This Sony BRAVIA 40" 1080p LCD HDTV KDL-40S4100 $780 PM @ BB" (http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=512908&t=1106752)deal is very tempting...

If you are looking for a quality inexpensive surge protector to protect your new investment, I would consider this (http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=512908&t=1106838). I just picked one up to go with my new setup. I have a $500 Monster PowerCenter for my downstairs home theater (50" plasma, surround sound, sub, ps3, etc.), but I think for my simple setup upstairs this should do the trick.

I hate to say it, but I went to Walmart, Target, CC, and BB today and honestly the Dynex® - 42" 1080p Flat-Panel LCD HDTV (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp;jsessionid=4XIGC3VZAMQG3KC4D3QFAGQ?sku Id=8719078&type=product&id=1201306784758) looks phenominal for the price. It has been on sale before for $599.99 too. If I could get it for that price with the $99 service plan, I would be happy. Never thought I would consider a Dynex...

Maybe during Superbowl week we will get lucky, I was going to get a 32 and after looking at them, it's just not going to be big enough.

The Insignia® - 42" Class 1080p Flat-Panel LCD HDTV (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8632802&st=8632802&lp=1&type=product&cp=1&id=1194052334530) looks like a solid bet.
