Hi,
I am looking to open a traditional IRA account and have few questions. Can someone please help me out?

- Which brokerage firm would you suggest to open an IRA account that may give me some $$ for opening the IRA account with them? I am planning to invest into ETFs, some individual stocks, etc.

- I have a SIMPLE IRA account with one of my old employer that I would like to transfer/rollover into the newly setup IRA account. Would that be possible avoiding penalties and taxes?

Search the forums for "Sharebuilder" . . . they almost always offer your $50 free. Generally, there should be no penalties, taxes or fees for rolling over IRA's.

vincent_vance - searched for sharebuilder in all forums here and googled..but couldnt find that $500 offer you are talking about

$500 would be really awesome... so far the best i found was $100 with TDAmeritrade...

Aside from incentives, I really like Sharebuilder. I have a ROTH IRA there.

If you plan on investing in ETF's and stocks then transaction fees should be your number one concern. The fees from the number of transactions over the lifetime of the account would far outweigh any start-up bonus you might recieve.

I use Fidelity and love it.... but that is mostly for how easy it is to use their website and the great mutual funds they offer. For you I would suggest you check out firsttrade, scottrade, tradeking, td ameritrade.... they all have lower trading fees than fidelity (i haven't used any of them, so I can't recommend a particular one).
