I'm sure another 100-$150 could probably get me a nice brand name within my specs pretty easily but unfortunately $850 is my absolute price cap. I'm tempted to bite on the Costco Sceptre 46" front page deal, because of it's acceptable specs and reviews, warranty, and 3 month 'no questions asked' return policy. But I want to make sure this is the best deal I can find. So can anyone help me find a better deal?

Yes I know $850 isn't a large budget for a 46" so my expectations on brand names and specs isn't super high. I'd just like a well priced TV that has a nice big 1080p picture.

Please don't tell me to hold off a few more weeks or months for a better deal. I've been planning on buying a flat screen for a VERY long time and only recently do I have the funds to get one. I've been deal watching for over a year now. Bottom line is, I am going to be buying a TV within the next week.

I will do a refurb if the deal seems right, but I do feel comforted by a good warranty. LCD or plasma though an LCD would be preferable. Thanks for any help.

You may want to check PC Richards (if there's one near you).

Last time I stopped by they have some great deals on Panasonic plasma in your range. If you don't mind previous year model...

I dont know what kind of warranty you would want on a refurb, but here's one you could consider. its $856 after tax and shipping, and is probably a better tv than the sceptre you've been looking at - the downside is that it only has a 3 month warranty.

for that price range, size, and with 1080p, i'd go with the Sceptre. unfortunately, the other brands are not that low yet for that size. you may be able to get a smaller one for that price range though.

Costco Online, Spectre 46BV-1080P

$699.99 after $200 off + $10 CA recycle fee + $69.99 S&H + $59.67 tax = $839.65

$200 coupon good Jan 5 - Jan 25. Only available online, you do not need to produce coupon.

Costco upgrades 1yr Spectre warranty to 2yr Costco warranty.
Costco 90 day no questions asked return policy returns S&H and tax (probably recycle fee too).

Beware, 46BV-1080P performs poorly when connected to SD source via AV connections.

When connected to HDMI gives great overall performance, audio and HD & SD video.
