I have two, one for upstairs, a year later got one for downstairs.
Absolutely love them!
Go to a store that has one on display that you can use.
I didn't like the "ball" one.
They are a fixed amount item. Never saw them on sale, only ever saw where you can get a gift card for buying one.
You will not regret this purchase!

Don't know if you have considered this but you can go to Bed Bath and Beyond and use their 20% off coupon (you may have a mountain of these laying around) towards the purchase of anything (including Dyson Vacuums). I just picked up mine (Dyson DC 17 Absolute) this evening for $466.00 (way better than $549.99 + tax).

If anyone have any info on Dyson vacuum cheap deals, appriciate the help ;=)We bought ours from Costco -- we bought "$349.99 after $50 OFF Dyson DC14 Animal" right after Christmas. So far, we are quite happy with it, and at costco, you can always take it back if you don't like it or there is a problem.

Compare the accessories when you shop around. I believe that "dc14" refers to the model, and "animal" refers to the amount of bling that comes with it.
