Best Canon HF100 Camcorder Deal? [Archive]

I was hoping prices would drop after Christmas, but they seem to be stuck at about $530. I need to go ahead and pull the trigger now (twins coming!). Any opinions on the best current deal? Perhaps a good combo deal with an SDHC card included?

Thanks in advance. I did some quick pricegrabber searching last night but didn't see anything exceptional. Thought I'd ask the experts before buying.

I've also been waiting for a deal on this camera-- hoping it would drop below $500. The best I've found currently is from Abe's of Maine (http://www.abesofmaine.com/item.do?item=CNHF100&l=CJ) for $520 ($530 - $10 off $75 coupon code "FRIEND10") with free shipping and no sales tax to NY. Only downside I can see from Abe's is the return policy (only replacement if defective).

I think I'll hold out another few weeks for this year's Canons to come out-- maybe the HF100 will drop a bit after that.

Thanks for your help. I guess I will just try to find a combo on newegg, jr, or amazon. Thanks for pointing out the return policy at abe's. For $10, I think I will go with one of the other big names.

That price just seems too cheap. Most other sites have it for just over $500. Anyone have experience with these guys?

The new Canon camcorders are out but no pricing or shipping dates yet. As soon as they are officially released, I would expect the HF100 to come down. This is what I'm waiting on. I would keep my eye on B&H.

it looks like the new Canon camcorders are coming out May 2009, I would expect a price drop at that time.
