hi, first of all, i've spent quite some time and effort doing research, rather than just asking ppl to do that for me.

what i need: 3 adult round trip tickets from RDU to SAN, leaving in late apr or early may, staying for 2 wks

what i did: searched kayak.com, orbitz.com, cheaptickets.com; searched ebay and craigslist for ppl selling their frequent flyer accounts

what i found: best price is about 230$ after tax from continental airline, could not find individuals selling either frequent flyer accounts or tickets

230$ is an ok price but not great deal, especially when i'm buying 3 tickets. could you plz help me find some better deals or post other tips(like a specific time to buy or search tricks to get lower price)? thanks in advance.

try the name ur price option on priceline.com you will get tix for less than that amount for sure...only thing is , you will know airline name and time of flight only if ur amount quoted matches what they have...

one tip is start really low , some ridiculous amount like say 40-50 bucks or something, cause its pretax amount anyways...then if your quote is not accepted, the system will tell u in the next screen that you have to quote at least xx amount...thats ur hint, choose that xx amount next time you quote and confirm with ur credit card account only if you find the TOTAL amount post tax less than 230, which in all probability you will...

but just remmeber , ur card will be charged if the amount you quoted is available ....so quote only if ur sure that ur ok with not knowing flight time and airline name in advance... but of course, if ur price is accepted rightaway in the next screeen you get to know the flight name and timing..but thats the only gamble but IMO a very safe gamble if you r sure of teh dates but are ok with the timings part as long as its on that date.

well i tried 5$ but here's what the next screen says:
Change Something About Your Request
We're sorry, but we couldn't find a Priceline partner airline willing to accept your offer price of $5 for tickets to San Diego, CA. You have not been charged for Request Number 593-265-401-68.

A change in price alone is not sufficient to submit a new ticket request. Select one of the options below that works best for you.

I am willing to depart from or arrive at an additional airport.

Departure Airports
Best deal airport selected RALEIGH DURHAM INTL, NC (RDU)
GREENSBORO - PIEDMONT TRIAD INTL, NC (GSO)

Arrival Airports
Best deal airport selected SAN DIEGO - LINDBERGH FIELD, CA (SAN)
Best deal airport option Not available for this trip
I am willing to travel on a different day.

Departure Date: graphical calendar Return Date: graphical calendar
I am willing to fly on a non-jet aircraft.
Remember: We will always search for flights on jet aircraft first.
I am willing to fly during off-peak hours ("red-eye" flights).
Remember: This means there is a chance my flights may depart as early as 5am on the dates I requested or as late as 2am the next morning. Note: If departing in the evening, there is a chance that my flights may arrive anytime on the day after departure.
I am willing to make 2 connections.
Remember: We will always search for non-stop flights first.

it didn't tell me what's the lowest price hint. :(
