Good deals..Just make sure you give them a false phone number. Otherwise you can expect cold calls a few times a year, trying to get you to buy expensive coins.

Thanks for the post above, I'll check with them in the morning too.

If I've already gotten in on one of those deals before from Universal Coin, can I call and get another one of the deals or is it only one deal per person?

I got one of the gse and one ase from the smithsonian ad. The coins are nice, they come in the round plastic holders and are not in slabs or ngc rated. Just loose uncirculated coins in plastic cases. Have received a fair number of phone calls from the company. Still getting calls from the universal offer i did before, they seem to be the most persistent. Not a bad way to pick up a couple of coins.

Any other good offers these days? I think these are all one time offers per customer.

yoshapman-I placed 3 different orders (the 1st one i was able to get the gold and silver but the other 2 just had the silver available) to my address but I used three different credit card #'s. I placed each order 1 day apart and I ordered them all early in the morning. I just received my first order today (I ordered the night the deal was posted).

02-08-2009, 04:28 PM
I used the info from the previous post using a different credit card to order. My name appears slightly different on the cards, but same billing address. The new deals are also limited to 1 coin each. I was a little bolder this time and asked if I could order both deals at the same time. Didn't seem to a problem and the customer service rep didn't have an issue. I guess I'll find out in 3 weeks.

I placed order for 2 offers at least a week ago, and my cc has yet to be charged, is this typical?

cvp33
02-10-2009, 02:41 PM
Yes, typical. Mine was charged about a week prior to shipping. Seeing that it usually takes about 3 weeks for delivery, I'd expect that you'll be charged approximately 2 weeks after you place your order.

How good a deal is an AEG coin for $87 each?

cvp33

How good a deal is an AEG coin for $87 each?

Not bad. $120 on ebay is pretty average. So you could clear about $20 per coin after fees.
$1,200 sales - $871 investment = $329 - $129 ebay/paypal/shipping expenses = $200 net profit. $200/$871 = 23% ROI or profit. Not bad. Sure beats a 5% CD.

Just got off the phone with The American Eagle Reserve. This was a "follow up call" from my order yesterday.
Nice guy - he tried to sell me a 2.5 Indian Gold coin which I turned down. Not too hard of a sell.
He said he'd ship out 5 - 1/10 oz AM Gold for $550 Shipped ($110 apiece, mixed dates, still not bad)

$2000 easy in my opinion.

$3000+ in 6-7 years. Silver's climb will be even more historic. $100/oz isn't out of the question.

Use a virtual credit card for these jokers. They're going to send you a 30 dollar eagle to "evaluate" and send back to them in 15 days or they're going to charge you for it. Then they'll send you another 30 dollar eagle!

I don't see anything on this page about signing up for a coins on approval service, but other people have reported this.

Was shipping included at that price?

I was confused at your post but now I understand. Instead of ten 1/10 ounce Gold Eagles they offered you a 1 ounce eagle for the same price. Which is the same amount of gold, but the smaller coins would have a higher premium per coin. Spot is 920 today, so not a good deal.

APMEX now has American Silver Eagle's for spot + 3.49

http://www.apmex.com/Product/48687/2009_Silver_American_Eagles.aspx

Any quantity. With shipping, it comes out to $341.35 for a roll of 20 (based on the spot price at the moment, this will change).

This is significantly cheaper than the ~$400 the rolls sell for on ebay.

I'm looking too, but thought a bump might not hurt!

I've been buying 1 oz Silver American Eagles - Brilliant Uncirculated straight from APMEX.com lately. Their prices have ben EXCELLENT.

Quoted directly from their website:

1 oz Silver American Eagles - Brilliant Uncirculated
Any quantity only $2.99 over spot!
Dates are of our choice, and are limited to stock at hand.

I hope someone has some luck soon since it's been so long since I've gotten one of OUR SD's on some coins! I'm finally ready to buy some REAL gold, and a deal hasn't come around!

Qty Item Price Ext. Price
20 1 oz Silver American Eagles - Brilliant Uncirculated $15.84 $316.80
1 2009 Silver Eagles - MS-69 PCGS (First Strike) $32.85 $32.85

Sub-Total $349.65

Payment Type S & H Processing Time
Personal Check $12.95 10 Banking Days
Money Order $12.95 1-5 Banking Days
Bank\Cashiers Check $12.95 1-5 Banking Days
Credit Card $23.44 2-5 Banking Days

Really not bad pricing at all, I'll go with the money order since I've done business with them before. It saves almost $11, and it's even faster processing time!

http://www.apmex.com/

I again, as mentioned before, would like to thank everyone who has contributed to this thread, and those like myself, who are still trying to find more and better deals to keep this thread alive!

Thanks in advance also, cause all of these bumps lately will definitely amount to something.... I can feel it!

The primary purpose that the Fed is a private corp is to keep it separate from partisan politics. The Chairman of the Fed does not get replaced with each administration and the economists jobs at the Fed are primarily to balance monetary and fiscal policy to prevent hyperinflation/deflation and to keep credit flowing.

This would be impossible if the Fed were actually a Governmental Organization. I'm always amazed that they don't teach this in Jr. High School anymore. It makes me wonder what it is they do teach in America;s schools these days

These are the lowest premium bars I saw that were under 100oz...just .99c over spot regardless of quantity ordered:

10 Ounce Sunshine Mint Silver Bars - .99c over spot (http://www.apmex.com/Product/43309/10_oz_999_Fine_Silver_Bars___New_Sunshine.aspx)

1 Kilo APMEX Silver Bar (1000 grams, 32.15oz) - .99c over spot (http://www.apmex.com/Product/51412/IRA_Acceptable___KILO_999_Fine_Silver_Bars_APMEX.aspx)

Shipping only goes up slightly when ordering more than one bar, so it makes sense to buy a lot. ;)

I think that it's a good deal in that if you're only buying 1/10 from a dealer, you're going to pay at least that much when you add S&H. Buying 10 for 1250 per ounce, shipped, it may also be a good deal. As always - YMMV - check your favorite broker.

If you follow boards / forums with buy / sell treads, you may be able to do better.

These are actually "CIRCULATED" ASE's and not necessarily 2009's. The ad states that coins may have "....some degree of wear. Most of the coins have abrasions, scratches, and tarnishing that can be seen in the pictures." This really negates any numismatic value these coins would have and relegate them to bullion status. Not a bad deal by any means but not a slick deal to be sure. Littleton is still the best value @ $15.90 per ASE if you can get your orders to go through.

No ad needed just follow the link. If you're patient this is a pretty good way to get some cheap bullion. Not a lot of it granted, but cheap. $15.95 per ASE + $.25 coin = $15.70 net. These regularly bring $22 to $24 on ebay and melt is still north of $17.

Been reading through this thread but did not see how this is a slickdeal, is this just a collector slickdeal or could this be used with credit card with reward programs?
In the last seven years, the dollar is down 40% and silver is up 400%, what's in your pocket? ;)

i got this the 2009 ASE from Littleton coin today. It also has another coin in it, it doesn't say that I need to send it back if I don't want anything else from them, can you tell me where that says?

yes i got mine from this order today. the quarter that was sent with the silver eagle is a free gift.

Looks like there is no coin that you have to send back this time!

I had 2 outstanding orders with them.

I received my single ASE from Littleton. It had a free quarter and nothing to return. :woot:

I also received a snail mail from them returning my funds and telling me that the offer is no longer available. Oh well...

I guess this one has dried up!

Try ebay - you can get bullion at below spot in most cases, especially when bing cash back is very high (as it was yesterday).

I just put in an order at Littleton's yesterday. What I did was asked if they still had 2009 silver eagles (which of course they do, but to hell with paying $35), and so far so good. Can only get one tho (due to market circumstances, or some cr**). Anyway, it's in the mail. Thinking of getting my brother to order one for me too, but I don't know if I want to waste his "new customer" status on just one ASE...

I just called. They sounded like a party in the background. The fellow that answered the phone said that they were swamped and that they'd call me back as soon as possible.

I gave him my name and number.

I don't really expect a callback. But it would be nice...

This deal has been posted a few times here on slickdeals with mixed reception.

The United States Gold Bureau offers 1 American Eagle for $9.95 (http://www.usgoldbureau.com/free-silver) shipped if you sign up for their newsletter.

I just got my coin today. Took about 2 weeks. This is a great deal. If anyone knows where you can get 1oz of silver shipped for less than ten bucks, please share.

Free ounce of silver eagle

Investment Rarities is offering a free ounce of silver eagle. This is the company that got me interested in silver at the beginning of this year. They will send you 2 silver eagles for $20 hoping that you will read their newsletter written by Ted Butler. You can call them at 1-800-328-1860 and tell them you received an ad in the mail for 2 silver eagles for the price of one. They might ask you for the code above your name. It is M734. If they ask for the code at the bottom right of the coupon, it is $20-0408. I got my free silver eagle in about 3 weeks when they offered it the last time. This time they made you buy one to get one for free. Still a good buy.

I just took advantage of this offer and it was a pretty easy transaction. The operator was actually really nice and we bs'ed for a bit about silver, gold, etc... They try to get a feel for what you're interested in and how they could serve your needs further. I just said I was collecting coins and not interested in stocking up on boullion or anything just yet. Two silver eagles for $20 shipped and about 10 mins of my time? Yes please. Cheers!

This one came in email, so I can't post a link. It looks pretty good, though.

2010 Silver American Eagles, MS 70, only $110 per coin.

This is from the same company that does the non-registered Silver Eagle sometimes, but this one is a certified coin, so it's worth a lot more. I see these on the Web all the time for $125 to $150 at least. They take orders at (800) 775-3504. You have to know the vault code, though. Tell them it's "pemssae70" and they'll give it to you.

Without knowing who certified the coin it is hard to give a price BUT the top two grading services are PCGS and NGC. A PCGS MS70 graded 2010 Silver Eagle went for $69 on Ebay yesterday. You can get one from either company for $65-75...

I filled it our last week.

They will call you to ask about payment. I gave them the CC number that I rarely use, so there's no issue if they somehow lose the information.

They tried a semi hard sell for more graded coins. I just kept telling them that I buy when I see a good deal and that an ounce of silver is an ounce of silver, so no thanks on the additional graded stuff.

I got an email the other day telling me that my order has been filled and I should receive it shortly.

Waiting patiently...

They are no longer honoring this. Now, you are asked to open an account with them and purchase their over-priced, graded options. As much as I don't mind a small hassle to get a loss-leader item, this is far too great of one. In speaking with them the first time on Wednesday of last week, I've already received two phone calls and several e-mails. This is the first time I've strongly suggested an AVOID on something like this.
