Hello All, I'm new so forgive if this is an inappropriate forum or request.

Anyway, down to business.

I've been asked to make plans to be in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for the week of March 20-27th.

I've never been there and have no clue on the layout, good areas, bad areas etc so i'm just wondering the best value hotel with good access to entertainment (a bar and a beach).

Live in Huntington, WV presently so if there are any airline deals from any airports within a couple hours drive that would be amazing.

All help and traveler tips appreciated!

Las Olas and Riverwalk areas = good
Sistrunk = bad

as for hotels, on the beach will either be pretty expensive (esp. that time of year) or be disgusting old motels.

Staying southeast FTL is nice, and also closest to the airport. North is kind suburb-ish like wilton manors and oakland park area, but nice.
Definitely stay east of I-95, and the southwest corner of FTL is mostly lower-income residential (i think) so even if they do have some hotels, I'd stay away.

FLL airport is south of FTL, and is the cheapest airport to fly in and out of in this southern half of the state, so you are good there. Kayak.com is my personal fav, they were pulling around 275 per ticket for you.

Kayak is a good place for hotels too. you can filter down by your price range and sort by popularity. the pelican grand is a really nice place, but not sure how much you are looking to spend or how many you are traveling with. its kind of a good deal if you have 4, because they have suites with a queen or two twins, and a separate room with a pullout couch. All suites have a balcony over the beach, and you are at the northern tip of FTL beach so you kinda get it to yourself. any others you are interested in or if you let me know a budget i might be able to help!
I have checked out most of the hotels on the beach in the area because that's where i am having my wedding reception. Spring Break will add a good chunk to most hotel rooms, but it is what it is.

Good luck! post back if you have any other questions!
