Ok, this is super short notice but I have to go in to brick and mortar Staples tomorrow mid-day and pick up a new computer. I have to have one for work and for sake of sanity. I don't have time to sit and weed through everything before buying because I HAVE to get to bed, I have to take my husband for major surgery tomorrow but with lack of insurance and job insecurity, I can't take any time off. I need to be working but I also will need to be spending quite a bit of time over the next few weeks at the hospital and generally away from home (desktop computer) plus still wrangling the kids. So I am sending out a plea for help and generosity from fellow SlickDealers to help me figure my best bet. Please.
I've had a few minutes to look over the deals listed on SD for various things like Norton/Peachtree/Passport Hard Drive/Camera/Printer/etc things you can get free or super slick with rebates etc. Here's what I'm after in no particular order:
#1 Laptop-- not loyal to any brand or super picky. I had one set aside at the store after a very short and very shaky phone consult with someone working at my local Staples but it isn't set in stone. Cost was $649. I'm NOT a super heavy gamer, I like my music, need atleast 3Gig of storage and decent battery life and must have cd/dvd burning abilities. The larger the screen the better. Must be wireless compatable. Any decent ones out now for $650 or less?
#2 Camera - Had chosen the Kodak EasyShare M1063 in Red based in a deal and that I'd seen it before and like it. Pretty sure its on sale local for $102.xx
#3 Portable hard drive-- looked at a few that were deal inclusive, liked the WD Passport.
#4 Norton Internet Security- Isn't there a deal to make it free right now?
#5 Peachtree Accounting Pro -- Only if it works out to be free.
#6 Wireless Printer/Scanner/Copier - Looked at a HP basic model with the sd card slots. Not sure of the model but it was right about $110/$120
#7 USB Mouse
#8 Bag/ Sleeve/ Protection that will fit new laptop and a few other items (USB mouse, a few notebooks, etc)
#9 Wireless Router that will work with my existing ComCast cable internet service-- Company has been saying they would get me one for a few months now but I've yet to see it and if I'm going to drop the cash on a new laptop, I want to be able to roam the house with it.
#10 Any other goodies/ good-to-haves that can get squeezed in under the wire. ie SD cards, software, hardware, etc.
I know this is asking a lot but if anyone out there has time to figure something up, I'd be ever so greatful. All in all, what matters most to buy tomorrow is the Laptop, Mouse, Printer, Camera, Norton and Router. If there is a way to make it all work, WHOOO HOO! I'm fine with doing rebates but as of tomorrow I have $1100 to spend. Cash. I don't have any coupons and I've checked my Rewards account--- Nil. Do have a few print cartridges to return though, yippee.
One last thing, Staples kept talking about the Staples service plan when I asked about what kind of warranty laptops come with. They told me even if I buy a name brand (like a Dell), that the warranty is only 90 days and then nothing. So I was told to buy the Staples 2 year coverage for about $150. Is this BS or is it something I should get?
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I'll try to return the favor if anyone can help. Again, thank you.
Don't know if location matters, but I'd be going the Sterling, IL Staples.
