Which brand or model would you guys recommend for college?
I plan to major in Advertising so I will need atleast 2GB RAM and a FAST processor.

Should I buy an Apple or just a PC Laptop??
13 inch-14inch laptops are only size laptops i will consider.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Please Find me a deal

As much as I hate them, I'd say an Apple is probably your best bet. And if you do go PC, I'd suggest considering 3-4 GB RAM - 2GB barely cuts it these days; especially with memory intensive apps, like if you're doing graphic design.

As for brands/models, I would suggest ASUS (check prices at your local Best Buy; there are a few 13-14 inch models that I see being marked down to GREAT prices via weekly sales or clearances) - ASUS doesn't make a single poorly configured laptop right now; so just get one that appeals to you.

ASUS's assortment on Newegg is less flashy/garish looking, but for whatever reason the prices there are only mediocre as far as I'm concerned (though most of the ASUS models bought online tend to include a few accessories, like a bad, mouse, etc).

MSI is one other brand to consider for a lot of bang for your book.

Alternatively, if you're just looking for a basic workhorse, there's nothing wrong with the ~$400 HP/Compaq/Acer deals you see every week or so; provided they have a dual core CPU @ 1.83ghz or higher, and 2+ GB RAM.

I got a Dell Vostro 1500 for college, and it's working very well. For about $900, it can even run games decently, and it's been reliable.

EDIT: I didn't see your latest post, sorry that Dell isn't an option. I would say Apple isn't a good idea with that budget, they overcharge for all upgrades, and even their lowest-end stuff is about twice the price of comparable hardware from another company.

Bingo. Hell, if you can wait till mid/late summer, Apple *always* has student deals.

And yes, as far as Apples are concerned, 2GB RAM is fine.

There are student deals out there especially during the summer but it's like a $50 coupon or $75 student discount.

But this above price at Bestbuy is a bit overrated

The best deal would be to wait till the summer for Apple's back to school specials. Last summer they included a free iPod Touch along with the $100 student discount.
