Hello, SD'ers! I am looking to buy an affordable, high-quality sewing machine for my girlfriend, but I know nothing about sewing machines (or sewing). I've seen the $50-$100 machines at Target, but I don't know how to pick one out. I do not mind spending a little extra for better quality, but I'm hoping to spend no more than $150-200.
Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

hello, I bought my sewing machine at target, and it has been wonderful. it's a sharp. i bought it last year on clearance. i have made 300 wedding chair covers, and it works like a charm.
i bought a $75 brother from target last year. it's ok for general use (hemming pants, buttons, etc) but i dont think it would hold up to doing 300 wedding chair covers...
