So I've read a bit on them and seen a lot of deals going on from slickdeal forums, but I can't tell what's the right one for me. All I care to use them for is to block out external noise and looking for one that is reasonably priced (below 75 bucks) that will do that and just that. I don't care about how great the sound is from listening to music or the bass quality. Just want to use them as sound filters.
Some would suggest just using ear plugs, but I plan on going outdoors with these and these just will look more casual than going around with colored ear plugs everywhere.
I have been using the RCA HP819's as tentative noise isolating earphones, but they suck. Seems like they only block out up to 10-12 db's and most of all deals on noise isolating earphones I've seen posted block out 40 db's. Also, these silicone earbuds slip out easily and lose grip from even the littlest of moisture.
Can someone point out a current or new deal on noise isolating earphones that are the best low price for just the needs of blocking out the most external noise? Are the foam types more preferable than the silicone types?

I cant speak for the audiophiles who usually slam the Skullcandy earbuds but I know I have to keep warning my daughters not to wear them if they are out at night.
I cant hear a thing with them in and you can get em under $10 most of the time.

Depends, where would you be using these earphones?
I would suggest the Er6i. Good noise isolation, and you can routinely find them on sale for around $50.

I'm using them just to go around since I am out in the open a lot in the downtown city and a lot of my area of residence is industrial. Planes hovering by at low altitudes ,a lot of truckers and taxes (bad sqealing breaks), people honking their horns all the time, those types of areas.
The ones that I've seen like what you mentioned, would they be more gauged for those who care for the noise isolation.
Do you think the RCA HP819's that I have right now are junk? I can't seem to find any reviews on them and they costed 10 bucks like the Skull ones that the previous member mentioned about. Is it really the price that goes to the quality of the sound isolation?
Also, when it comes to releases of models from manufacturers, is there a way to look up the date of their release? I get confused over these model notations and can't tell which one is an older generation than the other. Take for instance the Er6i. When did that come out?
