Yes, it's a decent deal. Macs hold their value very well over time, so finding one cheap isn't easy. It should make you somewhat comfortable that you are buying from Apple however.

The warranty is up to you. I've never bought a refurbed from them. I've bought two new and I've never had any problems. My friend had a hard drive that needed to be replaced in his desktop after about a year, so that's your call. It's risk vs reward on that, as with all warranties.

And you will have to buy a Mac Office disc. It will not be preloaded. If you have to have office, there are other alternatives like openoffice. It's free and very similar to MS Office. Depends on your needs though.

i just got my macbook pro yesterday, but i ordered through amazon..it's not the latest version with the black bezel around the lcd screen and black keyboard, but it does come with os x leopard and the illuminated keyboard..i opted for amazon to avoid paying taxes and shipping, and prices are comparable to apple site except getting new instead of refurbished...the one i got was for $1,599 for a 15" 2.5 ghz c2d w/ 2 gb ram, 250 gb hard dr..the ram i already upgraded by buying the 4gb deal in fry's for $40 (apple was asking $300 for their ram)..i want office 08 but i'm hearing a lot of dissatisfied people with it...you might want to consider iwork 08 instead for cheaper, and almost does everything office does (except i heard excel works a lot better compared to the iworks version)
