since self-promotion is not allowed and we have no way of verifying if it's your auction or not, please do not post any eBay auction links. this is a 4 point warning you do not want. - serra
Here is the link to the original thread (http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?t=678154) - the one that started it all.

Thanks to Dave123999-here is the instructions for a new Walmart tracker
noticed that the Wii & Wii Fit tracker was down for Wal-Mart so here is way to get around that...
go to this link

Then in the address bar paste this for Wii: javascript:openFindInStore(7855161)
or this for Wii Fit: javascript:openFindInStore(9188483)
Then click go and the tracker should pop-up, fyi I am using firefox.

Reseller FAQ (ask these questions in the forum and get smacked around!):
EBay Fees Calculator[I]
www.ebcalc.com
This is how eBay will calculate your Final Value Fee if your item sells for less than $1000 and you do not receive any special discount. Note that the FVF is based on the auction's ending price excluding any S&H Charges:
8.75% of the first $25 + 3.50% of the remaining amount exceeding $25
Example: Sale Price $400
FVF = (.0875 * $25.00) + (.035 * $375.00) = ($2.19) + ( $13.13) = $15.32
[I]Shipping Recommendations
Where can I get boxes to ship stuff on the cheap? Try Walmart (24 hour stores are great for this at 4am)! Go to your local grocery store also and ask them to save boxes for you. You can just buy 18x12x12 boxes for under $3 for your bundle. Packing peanuts are the lightest filler but are hard to find for free. If you want to order 25 or more boxes at a time, you can get them from uline.com for around $1.50 each with shipping.
The Nintendo Wii also fits perfectly into the boxes that hold several reams of paper. These boxes can be found for FREE at any bank, office supply store, library, and any other location that prints paper on a regular basis. These boxes are sturdy but light and also work well in shipping bundled items. Be aware that when claiming damage insurance on shipping, the quality of your packing will come into question - for $400-$500 an inspector will probably come look at the package, so it may be worth both positive feedback and insurance protection to use good boxes.
What size of box to get? Considering that Nintendo ships the Wii with no other padding, you shouldn't need much either. You will want your box to be crush proof which means having packing material fill throughout the empty spaces. The Wii will fit perfectly in a box with 15"Lx10"Hx6"D dimensions with 1" to spare on the depth. If you are going to pack a nunchuk you will need a minimum of 15x10x8, as they are thick. Staples sells a 15x12x10 box that fits the Wii perfect on two sides, or you can use the extra space for padding all around. 15x10x10 gives you lots of bundle space, but these must be ordered, you won't find them at B&M stores.
Which shipper is best FedEx Ground consistently has cheaper rates and faster shipping times in comparison to UPS Ground (however eBay does not automatically calculate rates for FedEx). USPS priority mail is a fast 2-3 days anywhere which will get you glowing feedback, but it does not have tracking. Signature delivery is required for PayPal seller protection on items above $250 (signature is also required for FedEx when it is declared value for $500+) - without signature, a PayPal dispute is ripped out of your account and gone forever. The total shipping price for anywhere in the USA 48 contiguous ranges from $12-$18 FedEx (bundle shipping more), depending on the distance. FedEx insurance has reported to only pay the cost of the items, whereas UPS may pay the full auction value.
When should I list my Wii?
You should use the completed auction search and make up your own mind from past results. The biggest problem is that there are usually are several listings ending every minute and you don't want that much competition, it's better to list at a time when more people might be bidding, and less might be listing new Wiis. Don't use scheduled auctions, list your item at a random time. If we told you when we list, then YOU'D be competition!
For research, www.terapeak.com (http://slickdeals.net/?sduid=305707&t=678154&u2=http://www.terapeak.com) provides the most complete information for FREE on any item on eBay. Be sure to filter out extra items such as accessories or games to more accurately view the data on selling the Nintendo Wii. Timing your listing also makes a large difference on increasing your profit margin, thus it is also important to adjust the website to fit your timezone.
What is the difference between a Dutch Auction and a Multiple Item Auction Listing?
A true Dutch Auction, which gets its name from the Tulip auctions in the Netherlands is an auction that starts with a really high asking price. The price is then lowered incrementally until one person bids to end the auction. These types of auctions are effective for selling high priced items. For eBay purposes, Dutch Auction is used to refer to Multiple Item Ascending Auctions (listings with 2 or more items) in which the price starts low, at say $0.99, and then is bid up incrementally, ending with one winner purchasing multiple units or multiple winners purchasing a single unit each. The term 'Dutch Auction' is used to refer to both the true Dutch auctions as well as Multiple Item Ascending Auctions, thus there is often some confusion amongst individuals when the term is used.
Where do I get Wiis to sell?
You'll be looking hard! Keep these discussions to the Wii availability thread, unless the discussion is reseller-specific for some reason.

I haven't seen the Snowboard game commercial yet but that should certainly get some more sales going. I'm still waiting on some Elmo Live commercials. I've seen the freakin Elmo kitchen commercials a bunch of times but nothing for Elmo Live.

elmo live stands no chance at a turnaround. fisher price (or whoever makes them) will flood the market even more as we get closer to Christmas. That is what they did a couple of years ago with the TMX. It's a sinking ship. Jump while you still can.
Wii Fit can and hopefully will make a turnaroudn though. I have way too many for it not to

Funny thing is he didn't sell any yet. Good thing he only have 8 of them...probably dumping them.
I actually listed a few fits for 129.99 BIN a week ago but none sold(really needed the $$). I have a few bundles that I am making 20 bux off of easily though with BIN so I am going that route for now.
check out his shipping price, it was like $20 to ship USPS... XD

If Elmo goes that way that will suck. It will take me a while to return the ones I have.
Earlier this week the BB closest to my job had stacks of Wiis. Big ones. I went today ready to buy another one only to find out they were sold out. That was sort of good news but I wanted to use my reward coupons. I'm sure there's a BB around that still has Wiis and believe me, I will find it.

I vote for make some cash. Even on this, a not so great selling day, people are still making money. One off day does not mean the profitability has come to an end. Saturday and Sunday's prices will probably not be so great either. In my experience weekends are usually not the best.

The economy usually picks up once a president is chosen. There's too much uncertainty right now because everyone is concerned about the election. It has been like this for the past 16 years, so I'm not panicking right now. I still think the wii fit will be a money maker this year especially with the new snowboarding game coming out. Everyone has to remember that the wii fit will sale after new years too. All the chubby people in the world will make their new year's resolution to lose weight and think the fit will help. =) I'm still buying the fit as I find them.
The wii, on the other hand, is a toss up. I don't know what to think about the resale of the console this year. I'm just going to pass on selling it this year and look for other things to sell.

My thought is that you will be able to make a few bucks on Fit's, but not a lot. Probably not enough to really make it worth your while. I say you sould look for other products so you don't become a one trick pony. By all means, try the Fit's and see what happens. By no means should you stock hundreds, or even dozens of them. Too risky.
Gook Luck to you.

There is no such thing as a sure thing in the business of reselling. I think Wiis and Fits are as safe a bet as any for making some money in November. Like that chart showed, prices spike in mid to late November. There's no way I can quit right now.

I think that's a good perspective. Everyone I know that doesn't already have a Wii (or Fit) wants one, they just don't have the money. Maybe after tax refunds start to come back, early February?

I am starting to think the same thing. I got a few calls today for Wii Fits. I think after this weekend, we'll see a spike. If target and best buy get even CLOSE to a sell out of Wii's by Monday, we'll do fine.
I wonder what those guys with 200 Wiis @ $299 and 200 Wii Fits @ $115 will do when the auctions around them go up? It's going to be an interesting couple of months.

I'm telling it like it is. Most businesses earn their highest profit during this time of the year. It's Christmas, this is when people splurge. It's not like there would be a bounce in prices for February if prices for Christmas aren't any good because that means there's already wiis and fits readily available. By February they would be even more available. ;)

Wow, can't believe I've been missing this very interesting discussion lately...
Well, isn't Nov 1st the day when all stores start shoving Christmas down everyone's throat? I suspect very large loads unleashed from Target and other retailers this Sunday....prices may even get uglier.
However, with prices at their lowest levels since the launch of Wii...things need to start turning around quickly, or we're going to be past the point of no return.
What's particularly concerning is the sheer number of Wii's and Fits people are hoarding right now. Typically, the things turning the best profits are the items that no one thought to resell. I believe that both Wii & Fit have the potential to overcome this general rule with the right advertisement and hype. However, I've seen NO hype or advertisement about Wii or Wii Fit lately...what is going on here?
Last year, I saw article after article about "Wii used for stroke rehabilitation"..."Wii bowling popular Friday activity at local senior centers"..."Wii keeping kids active and redefining video games"....And those "Wii would like to play" commericals seemed to run non-stop for over a year...then, Wii Fit launched and the Wii Fit commercials had everyone talking and hyped up for both Wii and Fit. The last few months though, I've heard or seen NOTHING Wii...it's like both items disappeared from the advertising world. I think that this is one of the biggest reasons why the market is so awful right now. With the kind of supply Nintendo is pumping out currently, I'm shocked that an advertising arsenal isn't coinciding. Just as an example... I had a neighbor, 2 friends, and a mail carrier all debating on purchasing a Wii Fit from me during the Wii Fit advertising push. All 4 of them lost interest after the advertisement stopped and never asked about them again.

I've been some what hoarding during my down time. I'm up to 25 wiis and 20 wii fits. Glad to see some familiar names still in the game.

I'm telling it like it is. Most businesses earn their highest profit during this time of the year. It's Christmas, this is when people splurge. It's not like there would be a bounce in prices for February if prices for Christmas aren't any good because that means there's already wiis and fits readily available. By February they would be even more available. ;)
and I'm just telling you like I see it...this is a tough crowd. People here get picked on regardless of their opinion. Tough crowd. We are all entitled to speculate, can we just leave it at that? Everyone I talk to wants one but has no money, and they keep saying "maybe tax refund time". That's what I'm hearing...people are broke.

Has anyone else seen their discounts yet?
For the past months, if a DSR was 4.88, it "counted" as 4.9 for the purpose of discount calculation. After all, it shows as 4.9 to buyers. Only a seller can see their own DSR to the hundredth place.
This time round, I had ONE DSR at 4.88 which they took to be less than 4.9 and zapped me back to 15% discount. Given the doubling of PS discounts and the increase in fees, this REALLY hurts.

Its hoarding - perfectly legal, and unquestionably despicable. Just sayin'. I could be wrong. Would love to know your secret on returning Target Bundle pieces, I been shot down EVERY time at Target. They give you the "Whole Bundle needs to be returned" because they say "The receipt is not itemized" . If you have someone working there that you know and somehow bypasses this then great, but I was told it was a Nationwide Target policy to not breakup bundles for returns.

There is a nationwide, no bundle breaking policy. Sooooooo, I returned the bundle. Then rebought the Wii. If I do that in this case I will be paying $215 a wii. Doing this last year netted me a cost just a few cents short of $200. How can you not make profits at these prices?

I went to a lot of Targets yesterday. Didn't get to BB or CC. There was a small line at the first Target I went to. After the store opened a lot of people came in to get Wii stuff. By the time I got to the 3rd Target on my run Wii Fits were sold out. By the end of the day all Targets in my area (East Coast) were close to sold out of consoles and some were sold out.
Even though there was a big release yesterday eBay prices look about the same they did last week. If supply has gone up and prices are staying the same that must mean that demand is increasing right?
Even with more consoles out there I don't see how Nintendo can keep up with console or Fit demand.

I have only been getting Wii's and Wii Fits from amazon.com as of late. The savings on sales tax is the only thing making reselling these worth it at the moment. Hopefully prices go up on ebay, and if they do, I will be back out in thick of it with the rest of you guys.

Kinda, last years bundle was several dumb games. No fit Bundles. But yes I told them before we got started that I wanted to return the whole bundle and repurchase the Wii IN THE SAME TRANSACTION. So they refunded me 423.98 then charged me 264.98 so I received a refund of $159.

Went around closing time Sunday to my local target. There were still 3 wii fits sitting on the shelf with no one looking at them, and a shelf full of wii's with no room left, so some more might be in the back. Also this target is extremely popular with very high traffic and gets picked to the bone on weekends. They even start to run out of socks and t-shirts on the shelves on the weekends.
That fact that they were just sitting there after an entire day and weren't snapped up seemed to provide a very scary sign of things to come.

Yeah, I dunno how popular the Fit will be for Christmas. Fat women is the target market, and a loved one getting their fat wife, girlfriend, etc one of these may be bad class. It's like getting a woman an iron as a gift. It might be an awesome iron, but it's not something women want.

I questioned the promotion and asked at a Target store whether I can buy two higher priced games and get a third under $49 one for free, but they said that all three games have to be under $49. Obviously they set it that way to exclude the popular ones completely, some may always get lucky though unless the registers prevent the discount.. I found some newbies at TRU during the B2G1 deal a couple of weeks ago, got three Wii Fits one being free, although most refused.. transaction went through fine.

From MyRewardZone website: "One Night Only: Exclusive Private Shopping Event
We're hosting a private, member-only shopping event at select Best Buy® stores on Sunday, November 9 - two hours of great offers, giveaways, networking demos and more."
You need to log into your Reward Zone account to see if a store in your area will have this event. Not all do. You need an invitation, which you can print out right away. I went to the last one, and found it an easy way to pick up console or fit. Also, if you stay for the full 2 hours they give away quite a few gift cards, and there's fewer people there at the end.

If the Amazon guys are smart and on the ball (I 'm not saying they are, or that they should be:-), credit card uniqueness checks is one of the most effective ways to enforce limits. Also, not sure how well they recognize VCC (virtual credit cards)..
But it's never seems to be clear what they do, and if they do it consistenly and to everybody!! Whatever they do (even with their recent mass account cancellations etc.) they always seem to put in a randomness factor in there or something to confuse everybody :)

When are we likely to see prices go up for wii fits and wiis? I don't know if it is too early to panic yet. I sold strictly wiis last year and did fairly well during Nov. and Dec. but I'm not sure what to expect this year. I'm strictly planning to sell fits this year or whatever becomes hot. My guess is after black Friday is when sales pick up but would like to know what you guys/gals think.

My thoughts are that the economy is hurting bad this year, and that is affecting things no matter how you cut it. If the economy was in the exact same shape as last year, I feel we would still be turning great profits on Wii & Fit right now.
With an ugly economy, we also have Wii supplies up over 50%, and Wii Fit has been in production for about a year, giving it ample time to ramp up as well.
The Christmas surge for Wii began around October 10th of last year, according to my records, and the values got progressively better as time passed.
This year, values have been declining slowly but steadily since the beginning of October, so it's really a whole different ball game. Things have shockingly gotten worse in November.
It's really hard to call this year...I think it'll be one or the other....big spike in future weeks, or else a crash. It all depends on whether or not Wii Fit & Wii get thrown into the media as hot items that are hard to find. If no frenzy and lines form anymore for Fit, then I'm leaning toward crash (my definition of crash is losing money).
I think another thing to think about is...who will be the core audience of the Wii Fit this Christmas? If my Mom wanted one and I couldn't find one, I'd just buy her some pans or something that she'd like more anyway. If my kid wanted one, I'd make much more effort, as there's that whole pressure of magical Santa, etc. I don't think kids are going to ask for Wii Fit, so another big question mark is formed... Unless Rayman's new Fit game and Shaun White's Snowboarding are quality games that make the balance board cool, then why are kids going to want this?

I still think prices will rise over the next few weeks. As more people start holiday shopping the low priced BINs will sell out and make way for sellers that are trying to make more than $3 per sale. There are no Fits advertised for Sunday that I know of and the only places advertising Wiis are CC and WM and in the past they have both gotten very low quantities.
Even if prices don't rise I can't see how they would go lower than what they are now. Plenty of people wait to the last minute to do thier shopping and by that time eBay will be the only place to get Wiis and Fits.
About the kids, I sold a Wii Fit to my aunt for $100 because my 14 year old cousins wanted it. She loves the thing. My aunt says she is on it everyday for a few hours at least. The youngans like the Wii Fit. How else would it have sold so well thru the year? Also, a lot of people have fat kids in this fat country we live in. Adults like the Wii because it gets thier kids off the couch. The Wii Fit does the same thing.

Kmart usually has coupons for $5 off $50 purchases.
The last time they had a release I got there about 2 hours after opening and there were three left. I asked to buy all three. The cashier called someone else and said it was ok as long as I wasn't putting them in layaway. Of course I wasn't. So I got all three rang up individually and applied the $5 coupon to each one.
I'll be riding this thing out, as well. I'm not buying much unless I can get it at a discount. I had a couple of auctions end last night and I still made a few dollars even with the Amazon release.

In other Nintendo news, the DS-i sold out in Japan in 4 days (http://www.japantoday.com/category/technology/view/nintendo-dsi-sells-out-in-only-4-days) even though only 3.6% of people surveyed (http://kotaku.com/5070262/japan-poll-only-36-percent-will-buy-dsi-soon) before the release said they wanted one.
I see resale potential in the DS-i and in the current DS Lite. When Nintendo starts making plans to release the DS-i here in the states they will inevitably stop making the DS Lite. That is sure to create a time frame when there won’t be any DSs of any kind available anywhere.

On Nov 18 of last year I had some Wii sales of $435 including shipping, right now you can find BUY IT NOWS for under $300 free ship, and that's just the console. Costco's in my area still have 80+, also TRU just received a shipment of 50 today in my area, and every B & M have consoles except CC. We are going to have to see a HUGE jump really soon for all of these to sell out.

I'm panicking. Just glad I have a lot of GH:WT to make up some profit for me! I likely won't come close to the profit levels I saw last year, but I think it'll still be a very good year for me.

How about fits in your area? Here in NY they're still not staying on the shelves for more than a day.

Fits are available at all Gamestops (4 in my area) and gamecrazy. They are also at Bestbuy and TRU.
There are 14 4 bundles ending at $330 - $355 all the time right now. $375 is break even if you bought a Wii for $355 out the door and Wii play and nunchuck without tax. So they are losing between $20 and $45 per auction.
My FedEx driver said last year they had on average 2500 packages a day going out, this year they have on average 1200..... This is all bad newz bears!

Supposedly Nintendo is going to continue producing DS Lites....DSi is a supplmental product for now. Like anything, I imagine you'll see it phased out eventually, but there should be a long transition period.

Anyone selling GHWT on CL ? How are they doing ? I remember when GH came out for the Wii, and were really hard to find, but people didn't want them on CL

Why would they do that? If you have a new product you should stop making the old one to force people to buy the new, more expensive item. Also, the DS-i has some features that prevent people from using existing pirating devices. That's a good thing for Nintendo too.
If they do keep making the DS Lite I would guess that people would rather have a DS-i. If you had a choice between the DS Lite and the DS-i which has a camera and a lot of other features why wouldn't you want to go get the new gadget for a few more dollars?

$330 - $355 for bundles is a big exaggeration. Some auctions are ending in the $350 - 360 range but most are around $375. With some discounts (especially B2G1 free) or reward programs it is easy to be making money at that price range.
I think all this panic is amusing. None of know what's going to happen for sure. You have to have heart to be a reseller. If you don't you are probably in the wrong business.

They're doing this because they feel the U.S. market is not saturated yet:
http://gizmodo.com/5059083/dsi-will-peacefully-coexist-with-the-ds-lite-on-us-store-shelves
Also, DSi isn't a few more dollars...Japanese DSi price translates to $180 here, which is $50 more. Granted, I'll be surprised if Nintendo prices it higher than $150 at launch, but who knows...

That's just marketing for ya. The DSi will replace the DS Lite, just like the DS Lite replaced the original DS. Nintendo wants people to continue to buy the DS Lite until the DSi comes to the US market next year, so of course they are saying the two products will coexist. We all know the DS lite will be phased out when the DSi comes out, that's how product development works...

While I do agree with you that companies typically do this as marketing, I will be shocked if DSi launches, and no more DS Lites are delivered regularly. There will be a transition period. The DS replaced the Game Boy, and they co-existed for a couple years together. The Wii replaced the Gamecube, and they too co-existed for over a year.

I'm just not sure either way. Just ordered 3 Wii Fits on Amazon and left a sticky on my monitor to cancel by Sunday if I think the end has come. Was banking on Fits this season, not Wiis.

What exactly has gotten you to rethink your position on Fits? The Amazon release? The added security measures have definitely made them last longer. It appears that now everyone is getting a chance to get one instead of the few resellers who were buying them all up.

I'm with you...I never expected this to turn out the way it has. The simple problem is the economy and its effect on consumer confidence, etc. I made great profits all year...after the financial meltdown, things really started decaying.
I think Nintendo adjusted the supply to keep better pace with last year's sell-through rate. I think we're seeing all this supply and forgetting last year it was the same way mostly (though 1/3 less)...just the sell-through rate was phenomenal. There were several Tuesday's last season where Walmart got 50 in, but there was a line of 50 people waiting for the chance in the afternoon! This is just not happening this year...they're definitely still selling well, but no where near as fast as last year. When Walmart gets 50 in now, they sit for a whole week...then next week more stack on top of those...and we're in our current situation, where we think Nintendo is unloading hoards non-stop, but it may just be that they're sitting. Sales figures will tell the real story in the coming month.
So while I too am hoping Nintendo is pumping out everything at once right now and things dry up, I don't think it's going to be the case anymore. Who knows though...I hope I'm wrong here, because I have a hoard to sell.
