Hey guys,
I've been thinking I want to upgrade from my A100 to the A700, I've been rocking the A100 for about a year and a half and I think I'm ready to step it up a notch. Best deals I have found for body only have been around $900. I only need the body, I have quite a bit of Sony and Minolta glass that I would like to keep using so switching brands is probably out of the question.
At my local CC they had one A700K display model for $840 that I didn't want to mess with, I didn't know how many greasy kids had touched it....
Also, has anyone heard anything about prices dropping on Sony SLR gear since the release of the A900?
TIA

Wait a week :)
Sony's prices have always been the most reactive to new models - while Nikon's and Canon's see slight drops in cost over a 6-12 month period after a new model is released, Sony seems to want to completely dump old stock, offering pretty nice price cuts quickly.
If rumors about an a800 at PMA are true, you could see the a700 start coming down.

Awesome, thanks for the info.
lucky me that PMA would be this week. I didn't even know what it was until just now....

It may not garner anything for you; awhile back Sony said they'd have no new DSLR bodies at PMA, but of course that hasn't stopped the rumor mill.

ugh, I just read some rumors about the A800....now I want that one....hopefully they be true.
New metering system, built-in WIFI connectivity, ISO 12800?!?!?!

One can hope though, right?

i want to upgrade my A200 too..but seriously A700 is not that much of a upgrade (only thing that attract me is the ISO noise improvement)
i would wait a bit more

Yeah, I would get use out of a faster frame rate (5fps vs 3fps in the A100), 0.5 and 0.7 stop EV with +/- 3.0 EV bracketing (versus the 0.3 to +/- 2.0 on the A100), better on-camera dynamic range optimization, and abundance of non photo related items (bigger screen, more hard switches and dials, stronger chassis, etc)

The A700 is showing on Abe's of Maine on clearance at $880 and 2.5% cashback, free ship, and no tax for me. Puts it at $858 for me said and done
I'm wondering if I should jump on this or hold out for a price drop. Anybody have any thoughts????
Also, I haven't had any experience with Abe's, I see them front page a decent amount, so they must be alright, any personal anecdotal experiences would be great.

Abe's is pretty good to order from, they might call you and offer accessories, but it's a low pressure sale, not one of those places that threatens to cancel your order if you don't buy more from them.

Bought my A700!!!
I reluctantly got it off ebay but I had an 8% coupon, 12% cashback, and found a retailer that sells and ships from the US (not China)...
Came out to $641 after coupon and cashback

I hope not, it seemed pretty legit, I guess we'll see here in a few days if anything is awry when I receive it.
