Well, our insurance company called today and my 17 yo DS's car is going to be totalled. We don't know the settlement yet, but not expecting lots as it was a '93 Lexus ES300. It was a car we saved for him that we bought almost new.
I did a search and am still looking for relevant info here, but if anyone has good tips as to helpful threads or a reliable website on buying used cars, that would be much appreciated.
We live in Texas, he has to drive. But I don't want to spend a fortune given he had only been really driving about 3 months and I still don't understand the judgement he made. He turned left in front of a very nice Mercedes. She creamed the side of the car. She was probably speeding and on a cell phone, but he gets it was his fault. Thankfully no one was hurt including the friend who was on the side that got hit.
Anyway, any ideas on a reliable used car that is fairly safe, could be repaired in most cities, will not cost us a fortune to insure and that would be in the $5-6000 range? Which is better CarFax or AutoCheck?
Thanks for input...
