No matter what your monthly payment is, leasing is never a good financial decision.

No matter what your monthly payment is, leasing is never a good financial decision.

This is untrue. BMW lease deals from 1-2 years ago were absolutely amazing deals, and were *much* more competitive than outright buying the cars. Look on bimmerfest.com for some of the deals that people received - absolutely amazing, BMW was "encouraging" leasing to fit with their business model.

If you know what you're doing, and understand the finances behind leasing - it's just an alternative way of paying for your car. There are positives/negatives, as with anything. However, since leases are more complicated - it's easier to get bamboozled by crafty salespeople.

Look at how companies work - some own their office buildings, others lease. There's no one "right" way to do things, it's all about understanding the pros/cons, weighing things out.

Realistically, however, right now the leases are much less competitive than in the past few years, due to the credit problems of companies. So the chances of getting a good deal on a lease are pretty small.

buy ftw!

leasing for business gives you a tax write off. otherwise, buy.

Dodge is offering 0 percent and discounts. Everyone wants you to buy their stuff at this point in the economy.

dodge discounts compared to others are a joke. i would buy. lease only if you want a new car every 2 or 3 years. since the lease rate is based on what the resale value is then, your going to get hosed

BUY... used?

Used car market for newer cards (05+) is crazy right now. Everyone is buying older year cars that are much cheaper... no one wants to spend 15k for a used car.

My fiance and I went to a dealership and purchased a 05 Benz a while back. It's KBB value was $22k... the dealership had the car marked at that price and after being on the lot so long lowered it to $16999... we went and were ready to buy then... but at last minute decided to wait til next day after talking with a friend who worked for dealership. He said the car was purchased by them for $17450 so chances of getting it lower were slim since they already had taking a loss. We went next day to buy, and to our surprise the $16999 was changed to $15999! I called my friend and he said definitly worth the buy now... and told me to try to haggle but its a small chance. I told the salesman I was interested but had a friend in the car business (not a lie right? lol) and he was going to try to check out prices for me so I would be back in a week if I was interested and he offered another $250 off. Walked out with a $21000 benz with low mileage for $15749. Fiance loved the car... never thought I would get a benz but for the price I couldn't pass it up. Felt it was worth buying this car over a brand new focus or something of that nature for same price.
