There are whole websites devoted to this: Mousesavers.com
Stay in the Grand Californian if you can get a deal... Right in the middle between both parks, it's beautiful. Had dinner there a couple weeks ago. Pricey but may have deals.
Stay within walking distance if possible. Pan Pacific, Hilton, Marriot, Quality Inn many others. If you have a car, stay at the beach (Newport, Laguna). Anaheim, other than Disneyland/Cal Adven is not that exciting.
I grew up here.

Thanks a million, Just to clarify since I never been to Disneyland but to Disney world many times.
- Is there a shuttle bus to Disneyland from these hotels or its short walking distances or do i have to drive any pay insane parking tickets?
- Not like Disneyworld, there is only 2 parks, is 2 nights enough at Anaheim then I should head to the beach and Diego area or 2 days at Disneyland is too short?
thanks for all your help.

If you're only doing 2days, then just buy the Southern California 2fer ticket for $69 adult, $59 child at a Ralphs. It allows you to spend one day at disneyland, then one day at California Adventure.
If you're doing more, go with AAA if you have it and you get free parking too. I just bought a 5 day park hopper for adult $161, which includes free parking (which is normally $12/day).

We stayed at Paradise Pier which overlooks California Adventure. The Grand Californian is a bit closer. I remember the parking being included. We stayed Concierge so meals and drinks (happy hour too) were pretty much included and we brought snacks from the lounge into the park with us. One day at each park will give you a nice overview. At night, check out Downtown Disney. If you have never been to Disneyland and only Disney World, you will be SHOCKED at how tiny it is. Especially the Castle. Everything is within easy walking distance. It is similar but very different. I found it very charming after I got over the size difference. I've been to DW hundreds of times. I couldn't believe the hotels are all right there, even the non-Disney hotels. It is like the parks are right in the middle of the city. Very strange. I would definitely hop on over to San Diego just remember it's not really that close. Allow at least 2 hours each way. Have fun!

If you are looking to do cheap, we've had good luck at the Anaheim Plaza Hotel (http://www.anaheimplazahotel.com/). Clean, close, and cheap.
This hotel is within walking distance, although it is a bit of a hike if you are bringing lots of stuff/kids. We've always walked but once Downtown Disney was put in, there is a bit more of a hike due to there being fewer entry points.
Last time I was there a few years ago there was a hotel shuttle that came by. I think it was $3 each way. If you called they could tell you if it still runs by there. I seem to remember that it only came every 45 minutes or so and if it was full, it didn't stop. You'd be better off walking if your feet could handle the extra half mile or whatever it is.
We've also stayed at the Quality Inn. Good if you can get a good price.
We stayed at the Grand Californian once. It was pricey, but soo nice. It connects directly to Disney's California Adventure which was nice to return right back into the hotel if you wanted to take a break during the day, but keep in mind that California Adventure opens later and closes earlier than Disneyland. The days you head to Disneyland or stay late you'll need to go through the front entrance and stand in line with everyone else.
