View Full Version : slickdeals.net = thedailydeals.net ?
I was doing a Google search for something* when I ran into a link for http://www.thedailydeals.net/ , and there were graphics from slickdeals.net!
So what's the deal; was that an old alias for this site? Did you have another set of graphics for the daily deals instead of slick deals? Are there any other aliases we should know about? I also found http://www.thedailydeals.com .
Talk! (please?) :D
Here's a forums search result proving my find:

* The google search was for a way to try and hack the best buy circular so I could see next week's ads early:

OOh, I can see this going places. Only, it just gives me one hit. I can check the google cache, but I don't get anything because it requires cookies for your zip code.
I was hoping to use your suggestion like a grep on deals, but so far, I don't see how. Can you enlighten me as to your exploitations of this link? Thanks.
Edit: for some crazy fun, try this link:

You get to see all of the companies that dailyshopper.com advertises for.

which means google has only indexed one page for them, which is the index.aspx. Which is just modified with the new images for the next circular. You can try checking the images manually for the ads... hard to say really..

Not sure how their indexing works.
There are lots of neat google commands, site: is just one of them. I use it alot when searching for documents and such. You can do, for instance, "nuclear weapons site:.gov ext:pdf"
Can be applied for any number of things, useful for finding coupons from sites, ie: "coupon site:bennigans.com".
The problem I find most often is the fact that old items stay indexed as long as they are on the website they were indexed from (some even if they don't) and therefore you have to sift through stuff which expired back in like 1999 or some ancient date. Makes life hard. Googles ability to search recent items is limited to 3 months, which I guess works ok.. but nothing "up to date"... it doesn't re-index that often.

Same site. Same webserver. There's also slickdeals.org. Slickdeals just sounds more appropriate for this site.
