Does anyone have a suggestion on a quality inexpensive home phone service. I will be using my phone from home a lot so I cannot use my cell. The best thing I see so far looks to be this ooma Core system (about $200 on Amazon now, no monthly bills).

It seems to me the only other option would be Vonage ($10 for the first 3 months then $25 each month after that).
Please let me know if anyone has another suggestion.

I would say no to Vonage. After the promotion expires the fees goes up a lot
If you have Tmobile, then you can get Tmobile home service for $9.99 a month
I have viatalk for over 2 years now. $200 per year and I get a charge of $3.50 per month. So about $12 a month when you factore in the $200/24 months

Don't you think the ooma Core system would be a better deal? It looks like for $200 you get lifetime service, or maybe I am missing something.
Maybe it is a better deal, Im just giving you a testimonial that Ive had viatalk for 2 years now with no problems and Ive never heard of Ooma and dont really know if either company could be out of business tomorrow.
Im currently looking into this, check out my dilemna, similar to yours.

I see, thank you for the reply and the link. I was going to try Magic Jack because of the price but they have a lot of bad reviews on Amazon so it would probably be a waste of money. I think I will look into Vonage, if they do not have a setup free or a contract I'll use them for 3 months (at $10) until I can find something better.
Sounds like Tmoblie would be a great option but I have a good plan from Verizon (from 1999, 1000 min for $40).

phonepower is great. I paid for two years which worked out to less then $8/mo. Good customer service.. reachable on weekends.

did you ever pick a voip service? I finally found a good one, but not as cheap as some of these 8/month services people are talking about.

just saw a vonage commercial...had NO IDEA it's a 2 year commitment. Mine is no contract, which I love
