roof top luggage carrier/ box

Going on vacation this summer and I need a roof top carrier. I'm leaning towards the rigid (box type) made of plastic.

1. does anyone have any advice for a brand (reliable for a decent price-- looking at 15-18 CU. FT. ?

2. anyone found any good deals on one?

I've been keeping an eye out myself. The best value (full retail) appears to be the X-Cargo 20 available from Sears at $200. It is much bigger in person than what I expected.

I went to my local sears and there is also a slightly smaller Sears model that was $119. The smaller model is not listed on their website and may be old stock.

I've also watched local craigslist postings and you have to be careful about the attachments if you consider buying something older/used.


If anyone has ideas or knows of a way I could knock some off of the $200 Sears price, it would be greatly appreciated!
