The plastic padded ones to me feel like an "ass gasket". The plastic ones seem to be flexible (or maybe I'm too much of a fat ass for them).
Out of the large selection of toilet seats I prefer the wood ones.
If I may input what kind of toilet I like I would say the oval type rather than the standard circle.
Also you can't forget about flushing power. It's not a slickdeal to have to flush more than one time. I need a toilet that can "haul the mail" (reference from Chick McGee on the Bob & Tom Show).

Hubby likes plastic, but I prefer wooden. Since I do the shopping, guess which one we have? :P Wooden ones just seem a little sturdier to me for some reason. Padded ones just 'feel' too weird.

I like the weird exotic ones.. just because they are different.
It really just depends on which one will go with your bathroom.
A friend of mine has a thumbtack one.. it's made of resin and inside there are real thumbtacks.. it really looks like you are about to sit on them.

padded...for my delicate bottom
I was in a bar a couple months ago they had a clear toilet seat. It was actually pretty gross. I didnt need to see how dirty the rim of the toilet underneath was before I sat down. This wont be such a problem at home.
Go with the tried and true plastic.
Didnt see porcelin on your list maybe they dont make those anymore.

waaaaay back when we had cats, we moved to a place that had a padded toilet seat. One morning I was walking past and I saw my cat get ready to jump onto the seat. He touched that pad and when it sqiushed he freaked out and jumped back so fast he slammed into the tub. He was OK but I almost peed myself laughing so hard...
Just thought I'd share that with you ;)

That is too funny. Did your cats ever try to run out of a closed window? On more than one occasion when the windows are crystal clear, the little guy will get a running start and run straight into that window trying to get a bird on the tree outside. I laughed my face off. He's never been hurt, but dang it was funny.

yep, and the jumping straight up a wall for some "unseen to human eyes" threat. That was always good for a laugh. I loved when they'd walk along the back of the couch and fall off... then try to look like they planned it that way and if you laughed to hard you'd get the look of death from them :lmao:

...Didnt see porcelin on your list maybe they dont make those anymore. They still make porcelain toilet seats but they're very expensive ($90-$300) and hard to find (not carried in Lowes', Home Depot, etc.).

I prefer plastic...
Something about wood seems unsanitary what with how porous it is and how many peoples rear ends are going to be around it and such.
I want something that I know when you wipe it with a bleach sponge it's clean, not some wood that has lots of holes and grains that can trap who knows what....

See, I had a wooden one, and after a while it wore out, and wood started coming apart, little cracks. It didn't feel good to sit on it...

Plastic! But try to find a durable one. Don't pick the cheap kinds. They'll break within weeks of usage!
