I have Amazon gift certificates to redeem, so it needs to come from Amazon and preferably cheap....LOL

I don't know anything about laptops. I have a desktop that has these specs that I have been very happy with for at least 4 years, so I'm looking for something comparable speed wise to my desk top.

80 gigabye hard drive
512 memory
Asus Motherboard
Pent. 4 Celeron Processor
2.4 gigahertz

I will mostly be using the laptop to surf the internet and check email, but would like to have the option to upload pictures from my camera. I would also like it to have built in wireless if possible.

Take it easy on me, as I'm uneducated when it comes to specs.

Thanks in advance.

Can you tell me few things?

What laptop size are you looking for?

What is your budget (without including the gift certificates)

Probably at least a 15" screen. I have a old IBM thinkpad with a 15" screen and its large enough for me.

My budget is around $4-600 if that's possible.

even the cheapest laptop on amazon, should beat your old system.

if you are still satisfied with your old machine, just get the cheapest from amazon

i'd save that GC and get a $400 laptop else where.

amazon doesn't have good deals on low budget laptops.

add the Core 2 Duo processor to this

then total will be 499 - 7% EPP = 464

save $50 and choose t3400.

you might want to go for 6 cell battery for $30 more though.
