There are currently 18 members and 162 guests on the boards. | Most users ever online was 324 on 08-04-2003 at 10:28 PM.
At 7:33AM, there is 18 members online and 162 guests. 162 people participating as guest.
How about restricting Guest to SlickDeals Thread? or a General Thread?
If they want to dive in further, they have to register. This could encourage more participation. More important, allow the many great deals, freebies etc to people who register to to board.
I just do not want to see some of great deals go to temporarily guest. Sometimes, the deals are limited.

I disagree. Many of the people who register as a guest do post and participate.
We all know how to use bogus info. If you will require people to register instead of having 18 members and 162 guests you will have 180 members, the original 18 plus 162 as qwerty25, anon162, etc....
Its fine the way it is.

I understand what you guys are talking about....the mod team has talked about this before......the best answer will come from Mr.Slickdeals himself....so i'll let him answer this one....:)
but i can say one thing....yes some deals are limited supply, so that means you'll just have to monitor slickdeals more often to make sure you'll take advantage of the great deals!!!:D
well, what is wrong with guests? why turn someone away that is doing no harm?

Some deals are in fact posted by guests (can't remember if they can start threads, but they can reply). So eliminating guests discourages people that might have posted something. Which means fewer deals for everyone. And that's not good.

The way it is setup.. Guests are only allowed to reply in the slickdeals threads. They cannot reply to any other threads but they have full access to view the threads.
I know allowing guest posts increase trolls but most people are generally behaving. I want them to give thier opinions on the deals. Restricting guest posts will just prevent them from posting what could be valuable. Besides, I don't like forcing people to do things.
Also, the highest guest count of 324 is inflated. Clicking on the printable Kenneth Cole coupon counts as a guest because it is a forum attachment. Viewing the comments on a deal counts as a guest also.

I just feel the more people are here, and have as much access as they have will help spread the word about Slickdeals.net.
Its a great design as it is.
