SUPPOSEDLY i am on a mission to get the BEST GPS. :P
Basically we want a GPS that gets signal quickly. Routes very efficiently. Text to speech. Helpful if lane assist.
and just works and does not require complex.
For a rather tech hating person. Easy interface.
supposedly bluetooth is must not. but we can live with it if there is a good deal ;)
I was looking at the Garmin 755t.
Looks good.
Any others units you suggest.
Doesnt really have to be a slick deal but it would help
Order of importance:
1. JUST works
2. Not Complicated
3. Meets above criteria
4. Quality
5. Price
Any help is appreciated
get it? reps for help
<$200 preffered but...
anyhelp whatsoever will get reps

do you mind shelling out the $$ for indash navigation systems? there much better than the portable ones in my opinion

I just picked up the Garmin 750 for $180 from Amazon. I haven't taken it on the road yet, but it's certainly cute! Get the free map upgrade by registering it online within 60 days of satellite lock. Are traffic updates that important to you? I figure anything I need to know about traffic I can get from the radio just as easily. Reviews of the traffic service reflect the same.

My car....I don't really plan on keeping it that long. The $$$ would be a considerable amount compared to what i paid for it new. repped

Yeah , I don't really need traffic. Heard that model is sluggish. I am looking at the 755t for 331. It has lifetime traffic and junction view. Which is a must. Can it have junction view too with the software update? If you can , please post a review  repped

I haven't been anywhere near a major interchange, but I have taken it out on the road. I didn't find in sluggish at all. It let me know in plenty of time that the intersection was coming up and what I was going to do, then it told me again right when I got there. I'll be interested to see how it does at highway speeds.
I don't believe that it has junction view, but again - reviews on that have been spotty at best. It doesn't seem to appear as often as one would expect for the extra cash.

I have a navigon and junction view is plentiful here. Its actually pretty nice. but now i might just spring on the 750 ? supposedly junction view is a must . But ill sacrifice traffic and junction for $180

It did a good job of re-drawing the map when I went off-course (on purpose). I was impressed by my first outing with it!

I think you are definitely looking for a Garmin. Very nice easy to use interface.
If you like the feature set of the 755t, then go for it.
The new 1350 looks pretty cool too.

I too am on a similar mission as my Garmin c320 of 2+ years was just stolen from my car  and it worked pretty good and was very easy to use.
As mentioned before, Garmin sounds like what you're looking for - and most come pre-loaded with the maps so no messing around with downloading maps and such when you get it.
The following sites list Garmin 255W, 750 and 760 as tops for lower priced models and generally good reviews:
http://www.testfreaks.com/gps-navigation-devices/
http://www.consumersearch.com/auto-gps
http://wize.com/gps-devices/t8686-automobiles
...although the 750 has gotten some knocks for being too 'sluggish' at times from what I read on Amazon reviews and here:
http://reviews.cnet.com/car-gps-navigation/garmin-nuvi-750/4505-3430_7-32593887.html?tag=mncol;lst
Hope this helps and good luck!

Ok - I took my 750 out on a road trip this weekend and I am in LOVE! :cloud9:
No sluggishness, no problems finding where we needed to go - it was awesome. It did a great job helping us with tricky highway exchanges (telling us when to veer right or left) and had no problem updating the route if we took a wrong turn because we were talking and not looking for the street we needed.
Awesome awesome awesome!! Worth every penny of the $180 we paid for it.

Generally speaking, here are 2 sites dedicated to GPS. The 1st one I used to research before I bought my GPS and have never been sorry.
