I've had good luck with Priceline but you need to do research before bidding.

how many adults, children, seniors over 62yo ?
do you have any memberships? like AAA, military, Veterans or Student Advantage
do you belong to any hotel's membership programs? have elite status?
what is your budget?
what type of accomodations are you looking for?
- a hostel for $20/night
- a motel for $40
- a hotel under $100
- a luxury suite under $400?
What have you found so far?

You can likely get a 4-star in downtown for $100 or less and a 3-star usually cheaper using "name your own price" on priceline. Hotels here are likely to have excess capacity right now, so be a bit flexible and you will save a lot. I guarantee there are no better deals than priceline if you are flexible.
