They aren't holding a gun to your head. The offer IS for smokers. My husband smokes maybe 1 or 2 cigarettes a month at industry parties he attends but that does make him a smoker, so he did the offer and not me.

If you aren't a smoker you might want to pass this info along to somebody who is.


One reason that CIg companies ask people if they are smokers before they let you into their website is due to the massive lawsuits by the various State governments. The tobacco companies cannot risk being seen as trying to lure non-smokers into the habit of smoking. If they do appear to be marketing towards non-smokers, they will get sued again for another gazillion billion dollars but all 50 States. Its just them covering their butts.

That is a good question! I think that anyone who is NOT a smoker should consider that when they consider saying they are just to score a freebie. Insurance companies DO run your name through a general clearinghouse that merges the mailing lists of ALL the tobacco companies. They also cross reference with pharmacological manufacturer mailing lists.

When I bought life insurance my agent explained this all to me because my name came up as being linked to diabetes. I had to explain why I was on those lists and also prove that I wasn't a diabetic. Way back when we bought term insurance for my hubby, he hadn't had a cig in 2 years and so he felt it was OK to say non-smoker. Even so, because he had been a smoker, the agent swabbed his cheek to test for tobacco use (among other things). he explained that if we ever let the policy lapse or wanted to buy a new one, he would have to be tested again if he wanted to assert that he was still a non-smoker or a smoker who had lapsed and then quit again.


Good thing to keep in mind! THis has been discussed in other threads and often ridiculed as Users being paranoid. However, in this day and age where every action on the net leaves a footprint and where all the info you freely give can be collected and merged, it pays to consider your actions before taking them.

If you are going to get the bottle, I imagine it will be shipped separately.

Frankly, the $20 in totally free cigs ain't a bad deal. I got those too and I was one of the first people to do the quiz. I did it minutes after it came in the mail and it was postmarked the day before. If I don't eventually get the bottle, I'd be surprised. Give it a little time. Within 2 days of me posting the offer, the "sorry we have reached our limit message" was coming up. So if you filled the quiz out after 4/20/09, chances are you won't get the bottle.


Remember, the offer was WHILE SUPPLIES LAST. If they are sending out the 2 $10 gift cartificates for free cigs to people who missed the water bottle, that's mighty generous of them.
